  1. The hospital that I applied for a nurse tech job told me that it is around your school scehdule but never told me any set amount of hours. They told me that I could set my own schedule, so I took that as I set how many hours I work as well. If I can get the job I plan to work the 3-11 shift 3 nights a week. That should help me bring in an extra $1200 a month.
  2. I have never worked there. However, my husband was in a very bad motorcycle accident 4 years ago and cut his leg off. They took him to The Med and they did a wonderful job. You would never know it looking at him that he had that wreck. He has a slight scar and if he works to much then his leg does get tired but.... HE IS ALIVE & He has a leg. (As you can tell the alive part means much more to me) :redbeathe But, I do have to say the after care there was horrible and it was so scary being there by ourselves. My poor husband would get in the wheelchair and go with me to the vending machines to get us food because he did not want me going alone. There were cops on each end of the hall we were on because there were convicts in those rooms. There was one really scary one in the room across from the room with the microwave and stuff. I hated going in there because he would stare at me the whole time. FREAKY!!! So the only advise I can give you (which you already know 1) by my message and 2) if you live in Memphis) is to be VERY VERY careful. I have heard that I will be doing some of my clinicals there and my husband has already bought me a taser(sp?) gun. haha
  3. I live in Horn Lake, my mother lives in Southaven MS and my father lives in Collierville TN. All are good areas to live in. We actually live in the older area of Horn Lake but have never had any problems. As far as the hospitals I am not sure because I start school next month. But I have been reading on here that alot of them do offer some kind of relocation asst. I think Methodist does for sure. I had both my children at Methodist Germantown and it was super nice. I loved it. It took about 30 mins to get there, not that bad. As far as the traffic here, its not bad. Everyone that I know that lives in Memphis and comes here complains but everyone that lives here never has any problems. YOu will learn all the roads to get around and avoid the main roads. As far as schools if you live in DeSoto county (MS) I would try to live near DeSoto Central Schools. My niece goes there and it is really nice. I would stay away from Horn Lake schools. We will move once I am out of school (2 yrs) and that is just before my daughter will start school. I have a 2.5 yr old and a 10 mt old.
  4. Congrats on the pregnancy. I think I would send a very heated letter to the birth control company. Haha, just kidding. :chuckle Number 4, wow. I have 2 (2 1/2 yrs and 9 mts) and I was wondering how to go to school and manage kids let alone being pregnant. OMG this sounds like I am totally putting you down and i am NOT. I am very happy for you, I loved being pregnant, all the people waiting on you. As far as what I have heard about nursing school & the 1st semester, it is hard. I figure they are probley hard on you the 1st semester to weed out the people that wont last. I figure if you can make it past the 1st semester you are probley good the rest of the way. Once again, CONGRATS on the baby. Are you wishing for a boy or girl? My husband said no more kids cause we have the perfect balance in the house right now and he is scared that we will have another girl and he will be out numbered. (I wanted to use lots of smily faces today, sorry)
  5. I am starting school full time in August and I have a 2 yr old little girl & a 8 mt old little boy. How do you other mommas out there manage to go to school full time & keep up with the kids & still keep that close personal relationship with them. I am a stay at home mom so its going to be really hard when I start school. I have never been away from my son and it has been a little over a year since I have been away from my daughter. Oh, just for laughs.... yesterday my daughter was in rare form. I layed her down for a nap, well she did not take a nap. Instead she took her diaper off, peed in the floor in 2 different spots & popped in the floor right by the door. Ewww.... Then later when I was laying my son down for his 2nd nap of he day (which took about 30 seconds, he puts himself to sleep, he is wonderful) she grabed the laundry detg. off the dryer and started pouring it down the hallway & into my bedroom. Oh, what a day!!! It was a little of this and a little of this but I could not help but do this :chuckle. Needless to say I was this by the end of the day .
  6. Norhtwest in Senatobia, Ms accepts 70 per class, 1 in spring & 1 in fall. There are like 300 or so that apply each time. You have to have a certain score on your ACT, NET & a GPA for at least 2.5 I think.
  7. I took the NET for the RN program @ Northwest. If you have the ACT score you need (if your school asks for that) for the RN program I would go ahead and do it. I know at Northwest the LPN program is 3 semesters and the RN program is 4 semesters. Just 1 extra semester for the higher title and closer to a higher degree. The NET that I took for Northwest they only look at the Math & Reading part. The Math was alot of fractions & decimals. Adding & the such of fractions, changing them into decimals & vice versa. There was a few factoring questions. the Reading was alot of paragraphs with questions to answer about them. There is a Science section with some stuff that I had no clue about, some was A&P. Then there were sections about how you handle strees, how you test & study & about your life in general. Those were about 50 each and yes/no questions. I dont know what I made. I got into school, so thats all that mattered to me. :nuke: Sorry so long
  8. I filed out the form on the federal website and the MS website. The MS one does not tell you anything at first. I just checked the website for the federal grants and it just shows that my request has been processed but not the result. I am married with 2 kids. I worked most of the year last year, I lost my job while on bed rest w/my 2nd child. So our total adjusted income was around $60k. So I am sure they are looking at that thinking I make enough money. But I am not working now, and will not be while I am going to school. So we will be a family of 4 living on 1 income. I really hope that I get federal aid. Thats the only way I will be able to go to school. I'm going crazy!!!
  9. I went online today and applied for a federal grant & a MS grant. When I filed for the federal grant it said that based on my estimated family contribution that I probley would not received any federal grants. Did anyone else get this answer & then get the grant anyways? I am freaking out. This will be the only way I will be able to afford to go to school. I worked last year but I have not worked since August of last year. So we are a 1 income family of 4 right now till I get out of school. Just wondering if anyone else went thru this issue with the federal grants. Any help?
  10. Hi. I am new to this group. I will be starting the NWCC RN program in Fall 2008 as well. I can't believe I got in on my 1st try. I have heard of so many people that have to try & try. I just have to figure out a babysitter for my 2 babbies (2 yr, 7 mts)
