  1. Oh great! We'll be colleagues :) feel free to PM me.. I don't really know how to.. I think I am too new to PM? I was told I need to make 15 posts before I am allowed to personal message anyone.
  2. Thanks, I hope this is true b/c I'd really love to work in the ER.. Do you or anyone happen to know if WMMC requires New Grads to make a 3 year commitment? I know CHOC does.. Help!
  3. Don't give up,l try giving the unit managers a call and telling them your good qualities (GPA, certifications, experience, perceptorship flexibility, etc.) Even leave a message if you have to. I've gotten interviews at places I have left messages to, could be coincidence or voicemails were useful.
  4. Hello everyone I applied to CHOC March 17th and I interviewed April 8th and second interview April 15th and job got offer today. I heard they were hiring for 20 positions total and yes, that over a thousand applicants. The PICU was hiring for only 3 positions and 20 people interviewed. I don't know if they are absolutely done with the hiring process though. I really wish you all the best. I know it's tough, I've been applying since beginning of November myself and definitely began feeling hopeless. Hang in there and do the applications and phone calls to HR at a coffee shop, it cheers me up.
  5. Eun59, Call back for sure and ask for ****. She made the phone calls out. I hat to hear that they don't leave messages, just scares me. We can't leave our phones for a second it seems or our spot will be taken. Call WMMC as soon as you can. Let us know if you make it in for an interview. Good luck everyone!
  6. Thanks for sharing Conure Girl I had a call this morning as well with the same experience as you (only the 6 page questionaire) The lady from HR who called told me the same information. She said that they are hiring for virtually all departments and asked me to pick two. HOWEVER, when I double checked their New Grad Residency website: http://whitememorial.com/careers/versant/index.php It list only a limited number of units, no Emergency residency or ICU but there CCU Hope this is helpful for y'all
  7. Hi Skeen Like many of my fellow unemployed New gradders I'm really grateful for you honest post. Seeing how you grabbed it by the horns is very encouraging. Would you mind PMing me about some of the smaller community hospitals you might recommend calling the unit managers of? Like you, I am not from here and I am currently in the OC but able to move anywhere. I am ACLS and BLS certified and have a 3.8 gpa but no luck thus far (Graduated Dec 2010) THANKS AGAIN for sharing you're story, really goes to show obstacles are only there to weed out those who don't want it bad enough! You did, clearly.
  8. HI KrisGrande Congratulations for escaping the unemployment world and your position at PIH! Thanks for sharing that information for us, would you be able to help me out a bit more with what position you applied for at PIH? I'm on their employment website but do I search "New Grad" specifically or any RN I positions that I see? What did you do? If you wouldn't mind private messaging me I'd be really grateful, I'm a new allnurses user and am not allowed to PM people until I've made 15posts. Thanks in advance!!
  9. Thanks so much for sharing TeleNurse22!!
  10. Hi NurseVN I am a relatively new allnurse.com user and I just applied to WMMC Summer Versant program. Was hoping you could PM me for some guidance. I don't think they let me PM you b/c i havent made 15 posts yet.. I'd appreciate any help you could give! Hope things are still going well over there

  12. Jyaa [i "I know they were setting up interviews for the first 150 calls I called around 2pm what time did you two call? If u don't mind me asking"][/i] Hi I'm rather new to this, what do you mean the first 150 callers? It sounds like a radio station prize. How does this work? Send in applications and then they open up the phonelines on a specific date and wait for the callers to pour in? Please help me understand
  13. Hi I'm pretty new to allnurses.com and need some help! I am from out of state and do not know my hospitals in California! I'm currently a nursing student going for my preceptorship and I have a choice to one of these hospitals. (Ultimately I'd like to work ED or any ICUs). Which Hospital should I request my preceptorship at? Huntington Memorial -Pasadena Arcadia Methodist -Arcadia Hoag- Newport Beach St. Joseph's- Orange Kaiser- Balwin Park Kaiser- Fontana Any guidance would be REALLY appreciated. :heartbeat
  14. Hi Ladies (i'm assuming we are all ladies since the majority of replies are for "women" dress suits), Many of you ahve mentioned dress slacks/pants. Waht about an appropriate length (knee) pencil skirt with a suit jacket and flats? Have you ladies seen any applicants wearing that? Please help! thank you
