Anatomy/Physiology Coloring Book
i bought my anatomy coloring books a few months before i took A&P1, it helped me tremendously. I used it when taking A&PII. I would highly recommend it if you are a visual learner. one tip though, make copies of the pages you want to color, that way you will always have a clean book and you can transport the page. I sometimes made notes on the pages i colored, this is why i say to make copies. Good Luck!!

Older Nursing Students
Hi Amy, I'm taking pre-reqs too. I started back in the summer of 08. I want you to know you can do this. I wasn't a great student in H.S years ago, but I'm kicking ass now. Just put your mind to it and you'll surpass. The key is not to get lazy and to stay on top of your reading, surround yourself with teachers and people who believe in you as much as you believe in yourself. Welcome!

Older Nursing Students
Hi just read your thread and I feel the same way. I have no social life and my house at times can be messy too. Luckily it's just me here and I can just close doors. But like you all I ever seem to do is study, eat, work p/t and watch the medical shows on cable t/v. I dont even have the energy to gossip anymore because its a waste of my time. So hang in there everyone!!! And keep all the encorageing threads coming!!

Older Nursing Students
I just read your thread and I can identify with you. I am 51 and was downsized after 20 yrs of loyal service. I 've always loved biology but like we all say life gets in the way. I am one of the older students in my pre requic classes, but I love it. Wish I had done this @ least 5yrs ago. The younger students and I get along great and we study together well. Empty nester so I have plenty of time to study. But like another post I'm going to have to look for another p/t job cause classes and books are expensive. Hang in there!!!! and glad for this website, it's great for encouragment.

agism in nursing
Hello to everyone, Have I have been enjoying reading all these threads lately and have been reading alot of good information on becoming a nurse after 45. My question is to all of the nurses that have been in the field for awhile. Do you see new hires at the age of 45 y/o or older? And what is the ratio? I am currently and will be finished my pre/reqs by spring 09 and want to go to nursing school. But not sure if the hospitals are even hiring older new nurses. Can anyone out there give me some insight???? PS the more comments the better:nuke:

CJW and pay, etc...
Hello, I was reading your reply to "intothemon" and I am glad to be able to sw a nurse here in CentVA. I am currently a student @JTyler CC and should be finishing up me pre-req x spring 09 and apply'g for nursing school. I know that I am facing alot of hurdles one especially my age. I'm 50y/o. My question to you is. Do you see new nurses my age being hired and what is the ratio.? It makes me nervous to think that after I go to school and take on this new debt that I may not even be able to get a job because of my age. I have been wanting this opportunity for awhile and waited until kids grew up. If you could give me some insight I would appreciate it greatly. New51 :typing

CNA to Nursing?
Hello everyone!!! I'm happy to have found this thread. I was curious to find out if there is anyone out there that went from CNA to RN. I was working in a business environment for 30 yrs and was recently downsized. So I decided to go into nursing. So now I'm back to working in an office but will be starting my prerequisites this summer and fall in pre nursing. The problem is that I want to at least have the "eyes on experience" working in the hospital setting. Is this a good track to pursue. I'm tired of spinning my wheels:banghead:
