13yr olds having babies.
I lived in an upper middle class suburb, went to exceptional public schools, and there WERE kids in my middle school having sex, and yes, getting pregnant. This was in the late 70's, early 80's. I am not picking on you or anyone else that mentioned that this is a new problem. It's just not a new problem. That said, it wasn't until fairly recently that anyone was openly discussing incest, pedophilia, rape and the like. I, like SmilingBluEyes, homeschool my kids. It does give a certain margin of control in detering unwanted activites and actions, but as I am all too aware not even that is foolproof. As much as we want to protect our children, and as much as we teach them right from wrong, some kids just do their darndest to rebel, and sometimes in ways that are very self-destructive. I am not saying that the OP's daughter was doing this, just stating what I have found to be true as a mother. And, I certainly think that this situation with the OP's daughter needs further investigation as to what is really going on, if anything.

13yr olds having babies.
bless you, cheerfuldoer, for saying what i was afraid to say. this little girl is a baby herself, with her whole life ahead of her. it would be an option i would consider if it happened to my daughter at that age, regardless of my general feeling about abortion. to the op, you do have support here, whatever the decision. take the advice given here, all sound and good advice. check out the real scoop behind the pregnancy, too, as was first suggested by smilingblueyes. and if this was a boy from school, there should definitely be some accountability.

Heavy menstrual bleeding...
Thanks, Dave. I am old enough to remember horror stories about certain IUD's, and though I realize we've come a long way in medicine it is hard for me not to feel like a guinea pig sometimes! Never hurts to ask. "ILuvNRSKarenRN"...I see you got some help with the all elusive title change!

Oh, my, LilTiger, I am so sorry. As a mother of young teenage daughters you have my heartfelt empathy. Please keep us posted as to how you and your daughter are doing. I don't really know what else to add. I am not sure if it came down to brass tacks I wouldn't go ballistic on my daughter AND the boy if I were in the same position. Bless you for keeping a cool head.

Heavy menstrual bleeding...
COOL! Really, seriously this sounds awesome! Progesterone, huh? That's excellent. That might even help me with PMS! I will definitely discuss this at my appointment. Thank you so much for your post! :kiss

Heavy menstrual bleeding...
thanks for the suggestion, adria. i will discuss this with my doctor. i guess it would depend whether it would be the right thing for a woman my age who never plans on having any more children. hey, if it works, it would beat the heck out of a hysterectomy! dave: has dr. jess had any experience with using these with her patients? (this particular iud?)

Since we have strayed off topic here, I am going to PM you.

If I hear 'C Nurses make the best nurses' one more time I will scream!
Yep, I think so, too. It goes back to my theory of it being "sour grapes." I plan to be a NP someday and I intend to get good grades, period. I am an "A" student, and while I don't discuss my grades with anyone someone always figures it out anyhow. "Oh, that was you that ruined the curve?! I knew it." I DON'T think that getting C's makes anyone a better anything. It's fine, it's passing in most cases, but for me, I will make sure that I am doing the best I can and right now the best I can is an "A". At this point in my schooling, if I were to get a "C" on a test I would figure I didn't know the material very well. JMO.

How do your guys calculate GRE score?
I think it might be a very, very small club Roland. I am sure if my husband could trade his bald head for a head full of hair, he would, but not at the expense of his life in the bedroom. Sufficeth to say, he would not wish to be a card carrying member of your club! I like him just the way he is, bald head and all. Aside from the male pattern baldness, there are some wonderful things about the amount of testosterone in a man's body. Trust me, one might not like the effects of having too much estrogen in the male body (unless of course that person is transgender, but that's another thread!). There are a lot of things in this world that I do not understand, but to each his own! Mine is only one opinion in a virtual sea of opinions.

provocative undergarments
Okay, I must ask...why "white" underwear? What about fleshtone? I personally don't like seeing underwear through pants at all, and those "tighty-whities" show through badly! If pants aren't too tight, and the undies aren't patterned or colored or bright white, they don't show through. I guarantee no one knows if I am wearing a thong or not. Yep, I wear 'em. Can't stand the panty lines. I don't let them peak out over my waistband and they don't have any print on them (at least the ones I wear under whites).

How Long Is This Supposed to Last??
Sounds all too familiar. Definitely get back to Urgent Care. The sooner you get the bacterial stuff treated the better (but I guess I DON'T need to tell you that!). Force those fluids whether you want them or not!!! And, hey, just feel better, okay?

How Long Is This Supposed to Last??
For me I got it the beginning of December, went into secondary bacterial infections (bronchitis and ear infections). I am still battling the ear and sinus stuff...starting my third course of antibiotics today. And yes, it started off with the flu...and I had my flu shot this season. BFD, it didn't help of course. I DO hope you recover sooner than I have. I will keep you in my prayers. :kiss

Heavy menstrual bleeding...
Hi ej, See post #43 in this thread...I did stop bleeding, finally, and will see my doctor March 10th. I will post whatever I find out, when I do. Thanks for your concern, and I do hope things straighten out for you. It's really wild what the low carb diets can do to a woman's menstrual cycle. From what I hear, though, the irregularities caused by the diet do stop after the first month or two. Unfortunately, I can't attribute my problems to either Atkins or SBD, as I was on maintenance and not eating extremely low carb or high protien. I guess it will all get figured out soon (I hope).

Happy Valentines Day

Last chance to pass NLN!!!
Here's a link to a similar thread: https://allnurses.com/forums/showthread.php?t=49241&highlight=PAX-RN Make sure you study basics in A&P, Physics (very basic), Electricity, Chemistry and Biology for the science section. Algebra and geometry for the math section, and understand your word problems. Reading Comprehension and vocabulary, pretty self-explanatory. I passed with the same percentiles as AmyLiz, and at the same school. I thought it was more difficult than Amy thought it was, but then again, I had been out of school for 20 years and had not yet taken A&P. Get a nursing entrance exam study guide. They help. Good luck and happy studying! :)

Heavy menstrual bleeding...
I am feeling better. I can't, however, get into see the doctor until MARCH 10th! :angryfire Which, by the way I figure it, will be right around the time I menstruate again. I'm thinking this is probably fibroids, or perimenopausal stuff. As long as nothing strange happens in the meantime, I guess I'm okay for now. Thanks for asking...and I hope you feel better, too! :kiss

Tucson, Az
I'm with you. Wouldn't want to live there again. But I hear tell there have been some improvments, all be it lots of new buildings and cosmetics and such. I haven't been there since the early 80's but I have some family members there now. But good luck in your endeavors!

Heavy menstrual bleeding...
Thank you! :kiss I doubt I'll get in on Monday, just going to schedule an appointment. We'll see. Glad that the D&C helped. I had a D&C a long time ago, and boy that was uncomfortable. But maybe I'm just a big wuss!

Heavy menstrual bleeding...
Nope, it slowed down on its own. But I am keeping this remedy handy just in case! Hey, it's worth a shot!

Heavy menstrual bleeding...
Thanks! Nope, not having any more kids. I have been pregnant four times, three live births and I am DONE! Not to mention my husband's two are here with us, so we have a house full! It won't be long now (hopefully in at least ten more years) I'll be a grandma and look forward to enjoying that time of my life. I'll wait and see what my doctor says, and go from there. I'm going to TRY not to borrow trouble, but if he recommends a hysterectomy I may do it, as long as he can leave the ovaries, I guess. I just don't know when I'll have the TIME to get it done. School and family is what I eat, live and breathe. I can't afford to be down that long. But then again, this bleeding throws a monkey wrench into things, too. I'm just glad this didn't happen at school! Yeah, these were very painful cramps, and my back is completely out of whack now (can barely function) but I don't know if that's related as it is not my lower back. Don't know what that's about either, but it feels like I had a muscle spasm. I guess we'll see what happens! Thanks for your post and I will see ya around school soon!
