Great way to start the new year, one more reason to celebrate. Congrats, it is the BEST feeling.

I think most of my class took boards, except for 1 or 2, and only 1 that I know of passed. A couple had 170 (they passed), most had 100 (they passed). a couple are scattered at 130, 158, 168, (passed). 115 was the one I heard didn't. Don't know where the stats for the test are located, but understand completely your feelings. Good luck.

Everyone I know that had the test turn off at 100, passed. However, I heard of 1 w/115 questions that failed. I think it is inherent in the test that we all feel terrible, prepared for the worst. Good luck, no matter what I or anyone else says to you, until you get that envelope, you will be convinced of failing. However, be prepared to wait longer than some for results, you have all the holidays to conted with. My friend took it right before thanksgiving, and waited over a week.

Do any of you CRNA's keep track of your cases, and if so, what program/software are you using. I have a PDA, but recently switched to a Blackberry. Are there any programs out there, which are the best/easiest to use etc. Thanks for any info

I studied Valley, using Morgan and Mikail as reference as needed. I spent about 6 weeks straight, 3x Sweatbook, 3x memory master. I am not familiar w/prodigy software. I've heard some c/o Valley, but I don't know how else you would cover everything, have it in one place. For me, it worked. But I did reference other books as needed.

I studied Valley, and used Morgan and Mikail for further clarification. I've heard c/o that Valley did not prep as well as we were told it would, but I don't know how else all the material would be in one place. I thought it helped. I am not familiar w/Prodigy software. Good luck

Yes, because if you wait to take classes until you are in the CRNA track, you will be swamped with a full time student class load. By going the NP track you can take the core classes-Nsg research, Physiology, Pathphys, etc which are mandatory for all the tracks. Beleive me, you don't want to wait to take them, you don;'t want to make your life any more difficult than it needs to be. If you time it right, you can get 12-16 credits done before you even enter the anesthesia track

First, you need to take the GRE. Then, you can apply to one of Rush's Nurse practioner programs. There is alot of overlap in courses at first between anesthesia and NP.This will allow you to get tuition reimbursement from wherever you are working. Most hospitals require proof of admission, before they pay for it. Anyway, after that, you can apply for anesthesia program. You need to do very well in all of your coursework at Rush, because the admission committee looks at that. They only admit into the anesthesia once a year. Interviews are usually in Sept/Oct for the next class which starts in June of the following year. You also need 1-2 years of ICU experience before you interview. Alot of people apply, you need to make yourself very attractive, ie CCRN, ACLS, PALS, etc. It is a very hard, demanding program, altho I am sure all of the anesthesia programs are. Because, if it was easy, everyone would be doing it. Anyhow, that will start you off. Is it worth it? I think/hope so. There are many days that I wonder what the hell I am doing, my life used to be so easy. But I keep at it. Good Luck

U of C, Rush uses CRNA's. I go to Rush, have 6 months left. Once you are out, contact Rush's nurse anesthetist director, talk to her. She can hook you up with an advisor, and someone to shadow.
