  1. Echelon has a course. I know I am way late to respond.
  2. If you live in NY., have you considered NJ? Virtua has plenty of facilites that hires new grads. You can also tell them that you plan on seeking to obtain your BSN. Although you would have a 45minute-1hr commute, you can gain experience. Any new grad whether BSN or ADN is going to have a tough time.
  3. Its okay so far. There are so many schools that offer online FNP programs. You wont be limited
  4. This is great information. I plan on coming to Orlando for the summer. Hopefully I can find a per diem position without having to be a travel nurse.
  5. This is great advice cause I want to travel in june to fl. I currently live in pa. I am afraid to leave my job in pa for a fl job cause pa pays more. What are your thoughts
  6. I am considering travelling as well. However I would never leave a perm job until the contract job is secured with a start date in place. What about a 4 week notice and using pto for 2 weeks?
  7. I am a firm believer that you can do it. I delivered my daughter over springbreak on Saturday...had a Midterm on the following tuesday and kept it moving. I previously had a son who was 3yrs old at the time. I had a job and went to nursing school fulltime. You need a really good support system to back you up and you can do anything if you put your mind to it.
  8. I work in a long term care setting and on a progressive care unit at a hospital. I always check my patients blood pressure prior to given any antihypertensive...especially the powerful vasodilators like Clonidine. If a patients blood pressure is low, you do not want to give someone Clonidine. You may find that individual on the floor. If there are no parameters, i would FYI to the doc and just double check. Some bps meds are more powerful than others. So better safe than sorry.
  9. I absolutely love night shift. Its funny because i cant function on dayshift. My body wont allow me to. But I usually have a cup of coffee prior or in the middle of my 12hr shift and I am usually smooth selling. How do you like the travel nursing job? I am highly considering travel nursing this summer
  10. I dont think you would have a problem getting a job on a least a med surg unit..the hospital enviornment is a lot different than the LTC enviornment. As a nurse that works in both settings, I am more tired after working in a hospital setting vs a LTC setting. Any setting that you work in, will pose problems...good luck
  11. I just started the program actually yesterday. Considering that my BSN education was 30k a year/this school is much more affordable. I am currently taking 2 classes and my bill was 3800. I didnt think that was bad at all. My employer prepays two classes a semester, so it looks like everything will be virtually free.
  12. That is awesome. I wish you the best of luck. Study hard for the boards.I am a currently FNP student and keep hearing a lot about Fitzgerald CD's. I pray that all goes well with your mom. Let us know how the boards was and study tips along the way, etc
  13. Temple is a great place to work for. You will learn a lot working there. I am a native of philly but now live in delaware county. It is not a safe place to be walking around, however neither are any of the other good hospitals such as univ of penn, albert einstein, hahnemann, etc. I personally think you will be just fine. Good luck
  14. Their are plenty of online fnp programs. Duke univ, george washington, albany state, felician college, thomas jefferson, unlv. When i was googling info i was surprised to see how many schools offer online np programs for adults, family, acute care, etc
  15. How many yrs of icu did u guys do before applying to crna school? And were u guys in a level I hospital? And what did ur undergrad grades look like?
