  1. Hi fellow nurses. I'm currently volunteering at a Post Acute Recovery Unit and a Pre-OP unit.....hopefullly i'll be circulating real soon too. My question is. The management took me in as a VOLUNTEER. they got all my info, copies of my certificates, licenses and even took my TB/ X-ray and physical. I'm practically hired working but with NO PAY. .......my question is. If i put in my application my experience as such.......willl the HR department ACCEPT my experience? or will they somehow TRACK my SSN and see if i got PAY from this company (which im not cuz im a volunteer) and thus be denied cuz they might think im a fraud. Any volunteers in my shoes????? who are hoping to use the volunteeer as a stepping stone experience to get into a hospital job.. please anyone.
  2. Fellow OR nurses. I fortunately got hired as a Circulating Nurse in a Ortho Clinic. We do alllll kinds of surgeries from breast implants, facelifts, colonoscopies, etc. I'm volunteering (NO PAY)...for a couple months now. I might be on the salary in a few weeks with 18dollar/hr pay. I don't feel appreciated at my work. They tell me i'm slow, but i do see some improvement over time. Well i just want to know if my experience in a Non-acute hospital be counted in a hospital setting. 2months experience soo far. i hope i can apply to a hospital soon for i wish to earn money for my family.
  3. hi capecod would u be willing to tell me the hospital that was that hired ltc rn's ?

  6. can i ask u guys will it be possible to move from a Long Term Care to a Acute setting?? if not how about a Long Term Care to a Sub Acute to a Acute Setting? (with 1 year in each area)
  7. Hi fellow friends, I'm currently in a Long Term Care Rehabilitation Home . Will my LTC experience as a Supervisor nurse be accepted in a ACUTE Hospital Setting? Can i be considered for positions? Because everytime i read Job POSTS for Hospital Positions more often then not there are requirements " 1 Year Acute Care Experience".... anybody in my shoes? Is it going to be hard for me to enter any Med/surg or Transitional Units in an Acute setting?? please anyone help....i hope im in a good career path. My ultimate dream will be a telemetry unit.
  8. I know this is most likely going to be unanswered cuz of competition, but anyway, where are the New Grad Friendly hospitals?
  9. @ ufblondi are you a New Grad?
  10. Maybe the workplace address would be better than personal home addresses.
  11. I'm sitting here in my California office, it's 2:00 AM! I have been checking every hour for my name to be posted on the verification page (bon-ca). Then, KABOOOOOOOM!! I just saw my official license number and name posted on the permanent verification LINK. Feels great. Pearson-vue trick worked for me the second time around (first time cc page). I was a Friday march 26,2010 taker. And my name was posted Tuesday 2:00AM pacific cali time. I feel like a new man. For my fellow friday nclex takers, your names are likely too be up soon for i was a friday 2pm taker at pasadena branch. goooood luck to u all and god bless. Life begins
  12. ok thanks will give em a try
  13. Thanks shiela but everytime i call a BON-office the one's who answer the phone are not the one's who decide if i'm qualified or not. They are just assistants i guess. They always refer me to download the Application-online. And the information on the applications usually are the requirements without extra details for exempt or extraordianary cases like mines.
  14. alarkins kip us posted on when your status is posted on the BON SITE... I too am waiting in vain. Took it 2 days after you.
  15. I took the exam recently this year, 2010. CA-nclex-rn exam. It was a written explanation. I migrated to US when I was 3 years old. Got Naturalized as a Citizen when i was 8 (thus default lost my Pinas-citizinship).....got my bsn in manila (never did dual citizen) ......prc wouldnt let me sit in for local nle because i only had US passport (no longer pinoy citizen even tho im born in pinas) To that effect.........and the CA BON accepted the letter and issued me an approval to take ........... I'm going to write the same explanation to all these other states here in america. Hoping to get exempted as well with strict requirements. Anybody in my shoes? same experiences? please share.....def. nid some tips.
  16. "im from texas, and i dont have a philippine license. after i graduated, i went back to texas but i didnt take that route for getting texas license 'coz i knew i had to get cgns and texas board of nursing requires 2 years experience when you're a foreign graduate. instead, i applied for california license (the dont require local license), and i was approved and took nclex and got my california RN license. and then, i endorsed my license to texas and already have my texas license.." ... pare ko'y When TEXAS issued you ur Temp License. Did you have to fullfil some requiremnts like CGFNS, Resending OFFICIAl transcripts from philippines to texas, or anything u can think of that was required to fullfilll your requirements and get a PERMENANT license. i can only think of LiveScaning again in texas...any more help would be great. Planning to get outta california. Its impossible to even land a Nursing Home Job wat more a Hospital.....imposible
  17. nada. zip. zilch. not yet....and if there was one who got the good pop up and failed then it would make the pearsonvue trick non reliable..until then....its 100% accurate. 100% accurate on pearson-vue's part that you passed the exam... regarding gettting your license issued to you (card with ur number and name on your states BON weblink verification-permanent license) will all depend if your FILE IS COMPLETE (SSN, Transcripts, fingerprints, no shady develpments, it was actually you taking the test ETC, ETC ETC)...thats why Pearsonvue trick isnt a Guarantee that you are a RN-with license in hand.................... its jaz an indicator that you passed.. Let your board now decide to issue it to u within the nxt few days or weeks. my 2 cents.
  18. Kip us updated shiela for I also have classmates in your situation who are going to the states via K-1 fiance route. Thanks silverdragon for your quick response too.
  19. @Shiela - As a US Citizen since the age 0f 7years old. Originally Filipino citizen i may add. I came to the philippines 2006 and met my future wife. I petitioned her using the K-1 fiance route and brought her to california recently. Her situation is similar to you. When the petition was approved, and after getting married in the states. And being converted to a GREENCARD holder, she applied to the BON-CA. They Required her to have her LOCAL License because she was not yet a CITIZEN when she graduated from college. She eventually took the local boards (in pinas) and passed. and was easily approved to take the CA-BON NCLEX exam here in california. Oh ya I forgot to mention that the BON-CA easily accepted my letter of reconsideration because being a NON-pilipino Citizen + being a US Citizen, I was not allowed to sit for the exam. So i was easily allowed to sit in for the NCLEX-CA exam with jaz my diploma and transcripts from pinas. @everyone else with any info: Being a new grad nclex passer I'm currently having hard time finding a job here in california........and i want to move to another state. For more Strict States that Requires A LOCAL LICENSE (philippines-RN). MY DILEMA is that I was not allowed to take the Local Licensure Exam for RN in the philippines because I was no longer a Pilipino Citizen. I am a U.S. Citizen since 7yrs old (converted). PRC rejected my application to sit for the boards. Anybody here experienced my same problem? will Other States accept my REASONING to forgo the Local-license for foreign trained nurse because I wasn't Eligible to sit in for said reasons. help guys?
  20. @goodstudentnowRN. Just curious if you applied out of state?
  21. Wow you struggled alot more than most here who took the nclex exam. God's good all the time.
