Waukesha county technical college(wctc)
I did not get in the first time I petitioned. They give 1St priority to those that are completely finished with pre-reqs. The first time I petitioned I was still in progress and had to wait until the following semester to petition again. I doesn't seem too happen very often but I think pathos gave me an advantage in the program. Learn as much as you can, you will see it all again!

I had to wait a semester between taking the pre-reqs and starting the core classes so I took patho while I waited. The staff being helpful depends on what you are wanting help with. They expect you to know your stuff, come to class prepared and participate. If it is obvious that you studied and have a question they will help you clarify. If you are fishing for answers because you didn't study they won't indulge you. Best advice I can give is come to class prepared, don't cram for tests (you will need the info later), stay organized, sign up for a peer mentor right away (someone currently in the program can help you get situated). Also, keep your eyes on the prize. It took you (because it takes everyone) a long time to get to this point, since you have made this long term goal you need remember that it is only attainable in small bits. Take it as it comes, stay strong, most importantly fake confidence when you need to. You must believe in yourself before anyone else will, don't sell yourself short. Good luck!

Waukesha county technical college(wctc)
I graduated 2 years ago from WCTC. Tough program but I think they all are. You have to be an independent learner to be successful. .there is no spoon-feeding of information from instructors. I am satisfied with my education but felt like I was never going to make it through while I was doing it!

Is WGU just another money muncher?
I am starting in May and will have 17 classes (according to my calculations). I am still waiting for my orientation to open... There was only one class that I thought I should have been given credit for but am figuring that I may learn something so I am not letting it hold me back. I think that getting this education is necessary and I will not let any hiccups along the way get me off track. I wish the best for you and hope you decide to stick with it!

Do your families give you anything for the holidays?
I received a T-shirt with one of the patients favorite characters on it, movie tickets and a box of chocolates and they also had a little gift for my daughter. The best part was the card with nice things written about me.

MATC or WCTC??
I am a current WCTC nursing student and last I heard they are only accepting Waukesha county residents into the nursing program. You have to complete your pre-req's and pass the PAX at either school before you can petition to begin the nursing classes so either way it takes FOREVER, if you are starting from scratch and you may have to wait a semester or two before you can start the actual nursing classes. Good luck :)

How did you get through the waiting?
I was obsessed the first time I applied. At my school students that are not "in progress" with prereq's are taken first. I was not accepted so then I had to wait 6 months to reapply. I was pretty sure I would be accepted the second time, and I was, so I started this Fall. My suggestion to you...get your hands on some nursing books and start reading!! I found that the readings are the most time consuming part and any headstart you give yourself can only help!! Good luck
