Its very strange that they arent sure of the steps to take in situations. It makes me wonder because I know I had a good orientation experience maybe they did not? I def focus on my work I just feel bad basically telling them to ask someone else. However, on a ligher note :) NURSING IS AWESOME, and into my first year it feels great to be a nurse!

Thats a great way to look at it to be a strong link. I dont feel superior though, I feel like the interruptions will make me make an error. I dont feel like I have enough experience or confidence yet.

I thought that was it for awhile. Then I realized that they really just didnt know what to do. Someone isnt voiding. Should we straight cath? well is there an order? do we need to call for order? Did you palpate bladder?. There are steps to go about doing. Its like every little thing is a question and if they cant find me theyll call a supervisor to help them.

Im just frustrated. Like oh you are fall charting? Im not sure how to do that all can I watch? when they are full time. I work all the shifts so Im familiar with how the charting goes, but how do they not know? I stood up and said I dont need an audience you can do the charting. They wanna gossip and mingle while orders need put in because they know I'll do them because theyll say "oh you're faster anyways". COME ON! I def needed to vent today lol. Its like they leave things to the end of the shift because they know I will just end up doing it. The pay is good where I work, I just need to formulate a plan that will allow me to do my work and others to do THEIR work.

Okay I need to vent. I recently graduated nursing school and passed boards. I am an RN. I took a job in a LTC facility in my area so I can do RN to MSN online. I work per diem, but I do work at least 30 hours a week. I am constantly hounded with questions from full time people on how to do things, when to do things, why to do things, I want to say you are full time you should know!!!!!!!!!! It comes to the point where I feel like im being short with people, because sometimes I think they ask me because they want me to do it and they want to "watch". I am newer to the facility and its like some people are just CLUELESS! Its like everything I do they want to know what im doing can they watch me so they can learn? Learn what? Didnt you go to school too? I thought maybe they wanted to make sure I was doing things right because I am new, but no, def not the case. Some people generally just do not know the procedure for how to do things properly. I like helping others out and teaching but when its common nsg practice and its over and over and over again I start to get annoyed. I feel like its the young nurse eatting the older nurse but I cant help it.Okay I needed to vent... THANKS!!!!!!!!

I was not a CNA before nursing school and I did just fine. I didnt have any bad habits to break. Some of my friends were CNAs beforehand and they did fine as well. As long as you do your work and are motivated it wont be a problem! good luck

as a student nurse in my last semester...we were w a preceptor for 6 weeks and the instructor visited each hospital once a shift...mistakes happen...learning how to not make the same one and keepin the patient safe is whats important i work in ltc w 30 residents at once who are skilled i def have methods for ensuring pt safety and u will also develop methods

I had a resident ring her bell and ask me to flush her toilet as she moved her bowels so that when she moved her bowels the water wouldnt splash her rear end....I had to turn my head so she wouldnt see my giggling

If you are having a terrible time in the hospital, maybe try LTC. I graduated took a year off then took my boards then got a job. Yes I def would do it differently if I could do it over. I got hired at an established and respected long term care home as a casual rn. It is a great option because I work three different floors. I have residents with dementia, obesity, and acute pts who will be going home. I have tube feedings, ivs, behaviors and have to have great time management. I dont feel as though I am taking the easy way out by working in a nursing home. I have around 30 residents to tend to and at night the number doubles. I have found everyone to be very helpful and it to be a rewarding experience!

Hey I took my test yesterday came home and got the good pop up.. My name is on my BON website today. I am so happy. Saunders q and a is an excellent book! Also read the entire kaplan review book. Also wrote down 1 2 3 4 on my erase board and drew a line through the number as I ruled the answer out.. Just some tips that really helped me!
