  1. Yeah I looked @ Amazon for the Chem book & wasn't ready to pay that much for a book. Send me a PM about were to rent the Chem book if you don't mind. I got the book for English Comp 2 from half.com for $2 + shipping. I hope I can get access today so that I can get started. Maybe in a few weeks I can add Chem. I'll let you know how Comp 2 goes.
  2. That's great. I signed up for English Comp 2 today thorugh Staighterline. Just waiting to get an email from the course advisor with my sign in info. How has Eng Comp 1 been for you so far? I haven't taken English in a long time. I took Eng Comp 1 about 14 years ago. Hoping I can get the hang of it. After this I will be taking Chem 1 w/lab. And hopefully by then the A&P will be available.
  3. Thanks for the info INLPN93. I have been seeing it in the bookstore but I have never heard anyone on here mention them.
  4. The Content Guide I'm referring to is found in the bookstore. When you go to order my books and put in the test you want books for it comes up under that. It's actually called "Course Guide" and it is $24.95.
  5. Thanks for the replies. I am going to try to download it again. I sent an email to EC in the meantime. So hopefully something will work.
  6. I have been trying to download the free content guide for Lifespan Developmental Psychology but I can't get it to download. I have Adobe Reader on my computer and I know it works. I have Health & Safety & Transitions guides downloaded already and I can pull them up. UGHH!! It's when I go to the site I can not get any of them to pull up. Frustrating!!! I was going to start studying for this test this weekend. Is anyone else having trouble downloading the guides. Has anyone used the Content guide that EC sells for aprox $25 for each subject?
  7. I called EC & they sent it through email but then I couldn't view it either. I ended up having to reinstall Adobe Reader. So I have now been able to look at it. Gotta long ways to go but gonna take it one step at a time.
  8. I am having problems viewing my unofficial evaluation for the LPN-RN program through EC. They sent me an email this morning saying that I could view my review after 2 hours of getting the email. Well when I go to look at it, it keeps asking me for a password to be able to view the document. I put in my EC password and it keeps telling me it is the wrong password. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong. I have sent an email to EC but was hoping that someone could help me. Thanks.
  9. How long do you have to do the 4 CSM's in Phase II? Is this covered under student loans?
  10. I have a few questions for those of you who are in Phase II. I know you have to complete the 10 courses before enrolling into Phase II but do you enroll into Phase II at the beginning of a semester or can you enroll at anytime. (hope that makes sense). For Phase II do you pay tuition at ISU or just pay for the test outs? And when do you finish the other general courses needed to finish the degree? Are these done through test outs or do you do them online through ISU. I got a list from ISU regarding all the classed needed and I was wondering what you all used for Lit, Artisitic & Philosophical Studies (6 hours) and the Multicultural Diversity studies. Thanks...and I hope some of this makes sense.
  11. rainingwoman, When you go to ebay, search for "college network". A list of different modules will come up and I just looked at them and actually there is another set that has been added today. The only thing is that the two different sets have other general ed modules with them, but if you can get them at a good price you can always re-list the general ed modules back on ebay. Look for the following listing after you search for "college network": Brand New Excelsior College Network Set (this says Excelsior but the modules needed for ISU is what is in this set) and the other set says something about (LVN-RN Bridge). Hope this helps you better. The names are: Nursing Care of the Child and Family, Nursing Care of the Childbearing Family, Nursing Care of Adults, Mental Health Aspects of Nursing Practice. Hope this helps you better.
  12. raining woman, Look on ebay and search for college network, there has been a whole set on there this week. I'm not at the point of needing the modules just yet. I plan on taking A&P I/II, Chem, Micro through my local CC this next year and then I will be able to apply. I am studying Sociology Clep right now and hope to be testing out this month. Hope this helps with looking for the modules.

  14. I have been an LPN for 12 years and wanting to get started on my BSN through ISU. The questions I have are about the pre-reqs. 1. I need Speech and I was wondering how hard the DANTES Principles of Public Speaking was and what you used to study for the test out. What kind of subjects do they use for the speech? Do you have a quiet place to do the speech or do you do it in front of someone? 2. What did you use to test out the English Composition requirement? 3. Will Introductory Chemistry work to satisfy the Chemistry requirement? I am going to be testing out of Intro to Sociology & Human Growth & Development this fall. In the Spring I will be starting at my local CC to get A&P 1 & 2, Micro, and Chem. If I can test out on Speech and English Comp I will be able to apply to ISU Spring 2011. Will I need to take the TEAS before I enroll? If so what did you use to study for this? Is there anyone who is just starting and want to do this together. Thanks a bunch.
  15. Thanks for sharing your story. The CPNE is the one thing that has me scared to death. This gives me the courage to keep going for my RN through EC.
  16. I haven't posted in a few weeks but I am still interested in the LPN-BSN option through ISU. I have a few questions for some of you who have begun Phase II and III. When do you take the TEAS? Do you take it at the beginning of Phase II? Also the CSMs in Phase II do you have a certain time frame to take them in, ex. first semester of Phase II? I have a long ways to go before I start Phase II. The only pre-reqs I have are English Comp I, College Algerbra and General Psychology. My plans are to take classes during the fall and next spring at my local CC. I want to be able to start Phase II by Fall 09. Is there anyone else here planning on starting Phase II by next fall? I am currently studying A&P because I am going to take the EC exam. I will be doing Micro the same way. There is a lot of information to take in with A&P. I would love to studdy with someone through email or IM. I live in Mississippi so I don't know if anyone else here is from MS or not but I really need some encouragement. I keep telling myself I can do this. I have been an LPN for 10 years. I have a lot of medical knowledge already. Sorry such a long post. Thanks for listening. Dalonda
  17. I haven't posted on here in several weeks but I am still interested in the LPN to BSN program through ISU. I have a question about Phase II and III and the TEAS. When do you take the TEAS? Do you take it before you apply for Phase II or during Phase II. Also the CSMs from TCN when do you take the test on those? Do you have a certain time period to take them in such as the first semester of Phase II. I still have to get my pre-reqs done. My plan is to attend my local CC this fall and next spring to take English Comp II, Speech, Spanish I and II, Pre-Chem & General Chemistry I. I will clep/ECE the following: A&P, Micro, Human Growth and Development and Introductory Sociology. Is there anyone just starting out and have lots of pre-reqs to take that would like to be studdy buddys. I am in Mississippi but would be willing to be someones support to get through this through email & IMs. I am studying for ECE A&P exam right now. I'm finding it very hard to get focused. I have been doing some practice test online and seem to know a good bit but it makes me nervous. I don't want to fail. Sorry such a long post. If you would like to IM me my Yahoo IM ID is fayth_love_expectation Dalonda
  18. I forgot to ask. What about the Foreign Language credit. How are you getting that credit?
  19. Thanks nursepeach. I have been checking out cost of used textbooks online. I am currently studying the clep books for Human Growth and Development and Introductory Sociology. My plans are to apply Fall '09 also. Good luck with your studies. After I clep these two I will move on to A & P, Micro and Chem. I am taking Pre-Chem, English Comp II and Speech this fall at my local CC. I figured if I take Pre-Chem it would help with the Clep Chemistry.
  20. I have been trying to decide between ISU and EC on which school of nursing I want to attend. I really like ISU because of the clinical part over EC. That CPNE that EC does scares me to death. I only have 3 classes that I took 11 years ago at my local cc (Eng Comp I, College Alg and General Psych). When you get into the program, where do you take your test at (nursing and upper gen. ed)? My plans are to start in the fall at my local cc for Eng Comp II, Pre-Chem and Speech. I will be testing-out the rest. Does ISU except A&P and Micro through EC test-outs because it says on the ISU website the A&P and Chem has a lab with it and it's my understanding that EC's test don't. I'm I wrong. Can someone give me some info.
  21. I am thinkning about going through EC for my RN degree. Has anyone from Mississippi gone through EC? Was it hard to get endorsed through MS?
  22. I have been a lurker on here for a while. I am trying to decide if I am gonna go with EC. I know that I can do the exams but it's the CPNE that I'm not so sure about. I have been an LPN for 10 years and will be attending my local CC this fall to take some of the pre-reqs that I have left. I don't plan on enrolling to EC until after I take Health Safety. I keep telling myself "I can do it" but I get so nervous when it comes to thinking about the clinical part. I know this will be my shortest route to obtaining my RN. Can someone calm my fears so that I can make the right decision. Is there anyone from Mississippi that is going through EC. I am in the southern part of Mississippi.
  23. Hello, I have been a lurker on this site for a while now and I have questions about EC. I have been a LPN for 10 years now and I want to get my RN degree. I have been looking at EC to obtain my ADN. I have seen post were you don't have to "enroll" in EC to take the test. How does that work? Also where do you take the exams. I have tried to download the nursing viewbook and the tuition pages but for some reason I can't get them to download. Any suggestions or does anyone have these and can email them to me. Thank you
