  1. Pitt COUnty---beware, they yse the dreaded PBDS. Also are very iffy about keeping travelers right now.
  2. I worked ICU a Sinai--workd my butt off. It's rare for me to not extend, but I only did one contract there. I was asked to stay, but between the outdated unit and equipment, the lousy schedules, and living at hotel hell, I was out of there. One god thing about Sinai----awesome cafeteria. Now in Greenville, NC
  3. I spent 3 months--very long months---at onnie Ridge when I did a contract at Sinai. If there were no place left on earth I wouldn't stay there again. I grew up in a small town, but I felt like I was out in the middle of nowhere. Air conditioner never worked, despite many phone calls, maintainance men walking into the apt to do a "move out check" the week after I moved in--I was sleeping as I work nights. Not to mention the totally disgusting trash heap they maintain. PLUS--getting overcharged for utilities because they bill the whole building the same.....No thanks.
  4. Absolutely--after 35 years in nursing, 15 in trauma critical care, I hope this will be possible should the time come that I am either so ill or in so much pain that death would be a blessing. Liz
  5. My first day in clinical, I walked in and introduced my self to my patient, proceeded to kick over a completely FULL metal urinal on the floor. I ran down the hall and asked my instructor where the mops were kept--when she asked why, I said don't ask questions! The same day--5 of our students were taken in to watch a paracentesis being done. One threw up, one passed out on the spot, and a third knocked herself out cold when she ran into the door, trying to get out of the room. There were only17 of us total, so I'd say we made quite an impression. Liz
  6. If we are talking about bedside nursing, my answer is no. I'm working right now with a nurse who finished her BSN, went right on to get her NP certification, and can't deal with 2 patients at a time in the ICU. If you want to give a differential to any one in bediside nursing, it should be the diploma grads, or the ADN's who come out after having 4 or 5 years of work experience as LPN's.
