Hello everyone here on this forum espescially the march 2008 support group,it's been a while i didn't drop a note on this site.It is because i focus myself in my review for the nclex exam.Anyhow, after the hardships and sacrifices i've went through, eventually it paid off--I PASSED!!! I took the test last march 17,at 9AM in Manila,Philippines.I have a wonderful feelings when the result came out in 2 days.I thank God for being so good.I wish the other test takers all the best!Be hopeful.Just put in your mind that you can do it too.:nuke:

NCLEX Prep Suggestion/Opinion
Nice to hear that,by the way when you'll take the NCLEX test?I have another predictor test with ATI by end of feb.... i already finished my online review with A+nursingtutorial were i completed more than 8th Q/A with rationales. But still i have the feeling of inadequacy of informations,so trying hard to master the concepts of nursing.I'm going to test on march 17.

Attn: RNs! Question and Suggestion Re:NCLEX.
For me the correct answer is letter 'B'...Just analyse the question what is being asked, because the nurse must monitor the s/s after surgery.

Here's the information i got from Barron's nclex-rn book 4th ed.,that says-The cuff on a tracheostomy tube shld be deflated except in the following situations: during and after eating,or during and 1 hour after tube feeding;during IPPB treatment;at anytime when there is increased risk of aspiration.Because you have mentioned to 'prevent aspiration'so this is my rationale for this situation.Another thing i've read, during feeding elevate head of bed or place pt in semi-Fowler's position, inflate cuff during and after 30 minutes after each feeding. The latter rationale i found in the nursing interventions.

I think the answer is,you have to deflate the cuff of the tracheal tube during feeding to prevent aspiration. You 've said,if you inflate the cuff the tracheal opening would be blocked.
