Oh wow. Ya after I posted that I started searching for other people's views and .. Most people said the same thing/ had similiar experiences. That is too bad!! Hopefully someday more local schools will do the bridge online ! Thank you for your input!

Hello. I am a new nurse. Graduated may 2011 and have been working in out patient pediatric/ family practice care since July. I am in the process of testing for NLN and other clep courses for my lpn to rn bridge. I originally have been looking into a local private school. Known to be great but it's expensive. I have heard a few friends look into the college network . I am from NH and my state allows LPNs get their ASN with their Program. So from what I have heard about this college network .. You go at your own pace, test out of each course and then take a one weekend clinical at the end. You also can test from home now w/ a webcam. Has anyone done their LPN to RN through collge network? What are your thoughts .. Opinions .. Advise? Thank you!

Hello. I am in the process of getting my application process done for the LPN to RN bridge program at Rivier in Nashua, NH. Has anyone gone through this? My biggest question is about Clepping out of courses -- I have to take the NLN, and Clep out of One Nursing course and my A&P.. Has anyone gone through this and does anyone have any suggestions/tips. Thank you!

After you take the nclex.. how long does it take for your status to change from "pending" and if you fail does it change to something else or continue to stay pending until you do pass an exam. Also, if i did not pass the nclex.. do i have to wait 45 days before even attempting to sign up for another test ? Thanks for your input!

How can this work if you state doesnt allow quick results.. Like New Hampshire. and on the NH board of nursing website they state "you can reapply to take the test with pearson 45 days from test". That sounds like the trick wouldnt work for NH test takers becase they dont allow you re-apply for 45 days. Am i looking into this too much??

Curious, I did the same thing.. I didnt over stress about time -- Just took the test to my ability and at my normal pace. It was just funny -- this women knows im taking a stressful test and says "WOW that was fast". Of course she probably ment well by it but still. Hah.

What was your time frame for completing the exma. Or when it shut off. I realize numbers of questions you get does not matter. But it took me a little over an hour. And when I completed the women who was monitoring the place.. she says "wow you are a quick test taker" HAH thannnnnkkkksss. I think its just me and how i take tests. But im curious, how long did you take?

Im searching for some information on the affects of nursing approach on patients. How a nurses harsh or nuturing approach can actually change how the patients status may worsen or improve. I've been searching for an article or something talking about this with no luck. Thanks !

I have not everything.. but so far; Really bad cdiff mad me gag (good thing i had a mask on and didnt make any noise) and trach suction is just.. EW. Teeth falling out bothers me.. And Dont even get me started with maggots. IF/when i ever experience a situation with maggots, i might loose it. yikes! Kuddos to everyone for experiencing/dealing with there "heeby geebies"

They will take prior credits. Just have your transcripts, it has to be within a certain amount of time too ( 5 years) that you have taken those course that you wanted credit for.

you make a good point. I often will see people in scrubs at the grocery store.. and i think its "ehh". I mean what if they just got off a shift.. and really, they do daily stuff in their scrubs after patient care, the general sick atmosphere they work in?

I do everytime. Whether I work a 4hr, 8hr, or 12hr shift.. I get home; leave my shoes at the door and take a shower.

Im going into the senior year for LPN. Its a good school, small, which allows you to quickly get comfortable with the teachers and get to know everyone. Good Luck!!

Once you complete the first semester, with a passing grade. You are eligiable for your LNA. All you have to do is have the school send your grade over to the state and then you get your license. thats what I did. And believe LNA experience will be good to have while being in school.

Are you excited to start? Congrats! So far i like the program, there are alot of great teachers in the PN program. Its a small school so once you get adjusted you'll realize how easy it is to get help or support from the staff. I wasnt an LNA before starting school so i remember my biggest fear was clinical. And it is nerve racking at first.. i said alot "they want to do what.. thats a nurses job, LOL. forgetting that hello!!! your going to be a nurse someday" But by 2nd semester i felt alot more comfortable. My biggest advice, remember that its ALOT of work. Keep up with your reading. Ask lots of questions. And dont forget to find time for yourself.

Thanks SJSmith. Its kind of an old post.. But i have an update! I ended up going into St. Joes PN program, Im graduating Aprill 2011. Im still undecided whether or not to do their PN to RN program after working the year or go to Rivier. Are you in the RN or PN program? Good luck to you on your first year!!

i opened it with my eyes closed.. tightly that is.. and was afraid to look for a good five minutes. lol. But then i opened it and realized i was good! And I was very excited, overwelmed, and just happy! And im now just finishing my first year. You have a lot of emotion to look forward to while in NSG school! Enjoy!

ditto. im on the same page as you.. Im completely drained. And on top of it all my clinical teacher is making my last few weeks of clinical a nightmare. ugh. Im just ready for this semester to be done. We just have to "keep swimming" only 4 more weeks.

Hello All! I am too graduating, hope to be :) with class of 2011. I started my program in Sept 2009. I am going through an 18 month course, however we did get a break for christmas, spring break, and will have the summer off. As much as I am ready for April 2011 to be here.. Im glad for the breaks. Its been tough!

Hello. So I want to start by saying when I renewed my license when I was 21, I marked the "check" to become an organ donor. I felt i was doing a positive thing.. and after all if its my time to go then so be it.. and i hope i can help someone along the way. Since then I havent honestly thought much about it.. never really learned about the procedure and such. Well, today in my Nursing Fundamentals course we had a guest speaker who works with families and teaches about organ donating. I must say, I was floored.. unsure.. and kind of confused by the end of the class. I guess what Im mainly confused about is the process of organ donation.. the speaker kept saying.. how the best teaching is done when your in the actual process. Im wondering if anyone can steer me in the right direction of understanding... 1. Can you be a DNR and an organ donor? 2. Do you have to be on ventilaters and such equiptment? 3. Even though im in my mid twenties.. I feel now more then ever I should make a living will out.. Is that weird? 4. Am I over thinking this? I realize that this conversation can be a heated one.. filled with ethical issues and such.. My intentions are to just seek answers & not push the issue of whether its "right, wrong, good, bad, or other wise to donate". Thanks for reading.

Thanks everyone for your encouragement. I realize that Its tough and the first semester is all about me getting my basis for some confidence.. I just hate feeling like.. theres no light at the end of the tunnel. BUT i know i cant thinking "glass is half empty".. Ill be fine. I just am in a funk. Hello, So I am a non-traditional student, I have my Associates Degree In Early Childhood Education and now Im back in school for LPN. I just started, September 2009. My orginal goal has been to eventually continue on to get my BSN. Well, does anyone else get the "I just want to finish this semester or this first" feeling. Half through the first semester and Im feeling a little mopey and tired. I know this is normal from the work load and stressors.. Im just "blahh" and I like school, clinicals, and everything.. But im honest god looking forward to being at a stage where Im more confident and knowledagble. Oh ya, thats another thing.. Im coming in blindsided, no LNA experience here. I dont mean to sound like such a whine bag..Im just in a blue mood i guess. Im doing pretty good in school, aside from the few not so good math quizzes. But I dunno. Has Anyone decided LPN was enough or LPN to ASN? Or what did/do you do when your feeling like this during school. Thanks for listening to my vent. ~Nicole~

:) thanks for your advice. I just assumed because of dealing with Human Resources that they didnt care about you calling them. I figured they would get to me if they were interested. Once hospital told me "we'll call you if we want an interview" and that was with me being persistant.
