  1. Thanks for that one! If she can make it in nursing school and pass her boards then I know I will be just fine! LOL :chuckle
  2. If a pt is GBS positive are they a just considered "carrier" or are they actually "infected". I had OB last semester and should remember this, but don't!
  3. i am actually considered an employee of the hospital. so far i haven't really preformed cna/tech duties, except for sometimes giving the babies baths. i am able to do many things, (with the exception to drawing blood and meds) but am usually supervised by another nurse. there are still [color=dimgray]some gray areas where i am (not only for me, but for the rn's orienting me too). thank you all for your the input!
  4. I am a student graduating next May. I recently started interning at a Women's hospital. I am loving it! :heartbeatI am curious as to what interns/externs where you work are able to do (mother/baby, L&D) ?? Such as procedures, teachings, etc? Thanks!
  5. Does anyone have experience working at The MED? If so what would you consider the best and worst areas to Extern.
  6. I didnt learn about allnurses until recently. Thanks again :)
  7. You have been so very helpful. I will take your advice and use it as a guide for my future care plans. I wish things had been explained better last semester when we first started doing them --where were you then?! haha Thanks again
  8. WOW!! Thank you thank you thank you. You sure have given me a lot to think about! I probably should not have said that she isn't showing any signs or symptoms, there are some serious ones there, but I am not sure what "I" - as the nurse can do about them Her vitals are normal. The lab abnormalities noted were her Hgb 4.3 and Hct at admission was 9.1. Since then she has had a transfusion, and is within normal ranges. She also has hemoccult positive stool, but no pain discomfort or changes in bowel pattern. Upon admission she complained of dizziness and "rubbery legs". (I know I could always use risk for falls). Anyway, I shall continue to dig deeper. Thanks again for your help!
  9. for the first time, i am truly stumped trying to come up with a care plan. my pt has myelodysplastic syndrome/anemia, and i have read on it, but don't know where to start my plan of care, as she isn't really showing and signs or symptoms. i have 3 care plan books and they aren't helping. any ideas??????
  10. I did Med/Surg clinical there and loved it!! I wouldn't know anything about scheduling issues though.
  11. The program is 2 yrs in length. 4 semesters (no nursing classes in the summer). The night and weekend program begins every January. (The day program begins every August.) What previous thread said about criteria for acceptance is correct...except I there were 60 accepted in my class. The night and weekend program is more competitive than the day. The day program does offer some Sat and Sun Clinicals. Best of luck to you
  12. I am in nursing school at Southwest. I agree that it is very rough and a great portion is self taught, however I have heard this from friends at other local schools as well. My advice is to: 1. study harder than ever before. 2. Avoid the negative people. 3.BE ORGANIZED! Best of Luck
  13. I will graduate in May 09 and will be 29
