  1. I am a credentialed epic trainer who is needing a little help. I am searching for a way to get into Epic for Certification training. From my understanding the only thing that is needed is a sign off from a training manager stating that its fine for me to go. I would cover all my own expenses, literally all I need is the OK to go to this training. I was wondering if there is anyone on this forum who would be willing to just sign off on this. Thanks so much
  2. What is the new procedure? Instead of telling her you cant do it can you come up with another way that lightens the load off of you but still gets the results?
  3. We are using an EMR, it depends on the specific EMR. I LOVE our system. Do you know which system your going to?
  4. Everyone else around us will hear me talking to her, other nurses will watch and look but she still ignores me. (My friend wanted me to clarify - I am actually posting for her - she is a tech/secretary on this unit, not that I think it should make a difference on how someone treats you but maybe it does) I may just address it to her like previously said but I tried befriending her and she will just walk away from a conversation or sometimes she does act friendly. Not trying to start a war (so please dont take offence) but she is asian, would this be a cultural thing?
  5. I was wondering if anyone is working at Lehigh Regional Medical Center? How is it? How is the patient load? What type of charting system are you using? Thanks!
  6. I never talk to her unless its regarding a patient or somehow work related. Usually she is just chit chatting with another nurse. I do not interrupt when its regarding a patient but I can hear when she is just talking about her hair/nails and I feel that the patient question should come before this. I dont think its a lot to ask to have someone make eye contact with me (at the least) so I know they hear me when I am telling them something. I will try some of your suggestions.
  7. I will be standing at the desk. Shes sitting at the nurse station also and is usually speaking with another nurse. Tapping her on the shoulder would be a bit weird and probably not welcome. Any other ideas?
  8. I have tried that, thanks though. I hope someone has something else I can use!
  9. How can I get a nurse to not ignore me. I will say her name and tell her something but she does not acknowledge that I am speaking. I only talk to her about valid work issues, this is not socialization. Thanks!
  10. I have heard of botox as a treatment actually.
  11. The reason that your preceptor knows what is going on all the time is probably because she has been doing it WAY longer then you have. I felt the same way when I started out but I soon started learning what test went with what labs, when patients would usually go for certain tests, and so on. For me it came with time, doing it over and over again, and finding the pattern behind orders, tests, and procedures. If it makes you feel better you can come in early to look at the charts but I bet with time its going to start clicking like it did for me.
  12. i do not have a license in the state but i have already applied. i would start the appilcation process as soon as possible because the first nurse manager that i interview with stated that it could take weeks to go through. thanks for all the replys everyone!
  13. It's Florida. Thanks for the advice guys!
  14. I prefer not to say what state it is. Has anyone actually done that, accepted the first job then got the second job and left the first one? How did it work out?
  15. Thank you for the advice! I do feel really lucky that I have had two call backs so quickly. I don't know if I could accept a job and then leave. I would feel really horrible to tell you the truth. I may call the second job tomorrow and tell them that I have been offered a job but that I would really like to be apart of their team and see if they can bump up the interview. Thanks again!
  16. I am moving to another state and am currently looking for a job. I know that the market is not that great out there so I have been putting out a few applications. I have gotten two calls back so far. One I did an interview with the NM on the spot and she said that they would be calling in a week to formally offer the job (I got that phone call today woo hoo). The other place (which is where I prefer to work) are talking to the NM and are going to fly me out for an interview in two weeks. I was wondering if there is anyway that I can tell that first job that I am still considering other offers but I would like to keep that offer still available? When the lady called today to offer the job to me formally I told her I would have to call her back. The second job (the one I prefer) is offering more money, better location, and better benefits. I have to move in the next coming months and would prefer, somehow, to not burn any bridges. By the way the first job never had me come out for a in person interview should that make me nervous or is that no big deal? Any advice would be extremely helpful! Thanks!

I looked at that website but am still unsure on what steps I need to do.
  18. Can anyone give me some ideas or example of a Process Improvement or Change that they have PERSONALLY been involved with? Was it hard to bring about the change? How did you get the idea that something needed to be changed or improved on? Thanks!

I am moving from South Carolina to Florida. Can someone give me some guidance on what I am supposed to do about my license? I went to the Florida website http://www.doh.state.fl.us/ and tried to figure out what I am supposed to be doing but am confused. If anyone could give me some help I would really appreciate it. Thanks!
  20. Also interested in this information!
  21. But how can there be a decrease in the amount of filling of the ventricles and still be a normal EF?
  22. Can someone explain to me how my patient has diastolic heart failure with an EF of 55%? I understand that the left ventricle is not relaxing properly to allow correct blood flow but how can this occur and still produce a good EF? I have googled this so no answers like that please.
  23. I have a question that I was wondering if someone who works in the United Kingdom could expose more light on this. I heard somewhere that in the UK doctors are the ones that make the decision when to stop treatment on a patient. Is this true? At my hospital in the US its the families who have most of the rights unless there is a problem that is ethically wrong, then there is an ethics committee called. I would love to hear personal stories and to know if someone could tell me the place to find the exact law.
  24. I wonder what would have happened if something wrong went off in surgery and the patient had tried to take the hospital to court? Do you think the court would have sided with the hospital because they tried, this ethics class is really opening my eyes. Very interesting stuff.
