  1. I mainly miss the camraderie. I had a lot of good times in Smith Hall. We started with a class of 125 and graduated 88, I believe. I don't know how that translates to other schools, though.
  2. Well, to be honest, I transferred into Gordon from a larger state school. There, my GPA was a 2.2. At Gordon, i managed to finagle a 3.8 or somewhere about. But, the NET test and the essay can help you out, too. Good luck to you!
  3. No, not really. But it'll be very easy for you to get a job at Grady's or Southern Regional's ER's. Gordon is a reputable school, and there is a need for us. You really shouldn't have a problem.
  4. I had a female patient the other day, and I was telling her that her Doc had prescribed some new meds for her: Me: Well, I think all you have to take tonight is just one lopressor. Pt: Oh? I thought I was done for the day. I already took a little blue pill. Me ::eyebrow raised:: What are you doing taking little blue pills? ::her friend starts giggling:: Pt: It had an "M" on it. Me: Okay, just as long as it didn't have a "V" on it, we're good.
  5. The cost of attending Emory's Nursing School is only justified if you want to enter into a higher field of nursing, like CRNAs or NPs. I work with an Emory grad and we studied for the NCLEX together. I can't say that she magically knew more than me just because she attended Emory. And I only have my ADN. Emory's name will help you get into great higher-degree programs, there's no doubt about that. But if you want to work on the floor or unit, I don't see a difference.
  6. I really had no trouble finding a job. I really got hired before I graduated and passed the NCLEX. Maybe the fact that my mother worked as an RN there for so long helped out, but I digress, . Henry Medical and Southern Regional are hiring LPNs. I know it's not in downtown Atlanta, but it's something. Wish I could be of more help.
  7. honestly, i thought the pre-reqs at Gordon were a joke. The professors there spoon feed their students. It will not prepare you for what the nursing program is like. I can guarantee that. A&P tests consisted of matching questions in groups of five. if you didn't know one, you could figure it out by figuring out what the first four were. There were a few good professors that actually taught and gave thought-provoking assignments, but they were far and few between. In any case, study hard--the program is extremely competitive nowadays!
  8. Mr. P was the best. I just graduated from Gordon last May. It was two of the best years of my life, not to mention two of the hardest! These professors really care about their students. If it wasn't for Professor Mc. (she recently left) and Ms. C., I probably would have never graduated. Soak in everything you can. These professors are top-notch!
