SHewwww, the hated paperwork. It's bad enough to have SO much to do, then to get "audited" on what took so long to begin with. The HH im at now doesnt use computerized cahrting like im used to and there are 2 nurses the "check" our notes and we have to make corrections. All fine and dandy but when you ahve to go find a chart(that only God knows where it might be) then find the dated note that you are being audited on, only to find out that the "audit" is about not drawing a line through something????? VERY frustrating!!

Shewww, AMEN to that, esp if the site is positional. I looked up after 5 min in a patients home where dial a flow was set at 250ml/hr 500ml , and 1/4 of the bag was gone, I about fell over:imbar

My hubby from OZ, I couldnt BELIEVE it when he told me about how much time workes get off there for holiday. When he moved here 6 years ago, he found out the ugly truth, here in the US it's work, work , work, and we (I) feel guilty when I DO take a vacation(for a week) b/c that means the nurses working are having to work harder because of me being off...grrrr

Awww, how thoughtful. I worked for a doc in family practice, where we were both paid by the company. The xmas gift year one was scrubs (which I greatly needed), then went to a gift certificate for a total body massage (which I LOVED), then she started with the money on year 3, was 100 to 200 dollars a year, oh and she gave me 50 on my b0day from the first year we started together...geesh I miss her...I think the thought is what really counts without be cliche'...god bless doctors (and spouses) like you that are concerned with us peon nurses

I had to comment when I saw this post. I came across this in the office I work at. They hired a MA, at an LPN's pay for starters, which in it's own is a slap in the face (once again our education , skills mean nothing more than the next persons). She not only called herself "nurse" she tried telling everyone but the nursing staff (b/c we knew better) that she was higher up than a LPN. I walked up on this conversation, and needless to say, I DID correct her on the matter, and even brought her materials on the matter, she soon left the office. I was in noway trying to belittle her, I was simply not letting her act as if she went to school longer, knew more, could do more, etc. I feel as if I stood up for all of the nurses in our office that day. We DID go to college and earn a LICENSE!! Sorry, had to get that off my chest....lol

If the rest of the nurses out there are like me then they are working 10 hr shifts anyway, even when they are supossed to be 5 8 hr shifts. I used to work 2 16's and an 8 hr shift, then 4 days off, loved that......
