Support Stickie for New nurses who are not coping
Eeek! I feel ya on the confidence thing, for sure, and the clicky unit. I am in a rotation program and move from one unit to another after 8 weeks, which is just about the time that I start to feel like I might be able to fit in, one day. I started working in July and passed my boards on August 1st. I feel that there have been so many things that have happened since right before graduation that have contributed to my lack of confidence. I always thought I was confident and it surprises me that my confidence that I carried all through school has deteriorated so much. I don't see my classmates going through this, which makes it even worse. It sounds like we are having a lot of the same issues. I don't know how to make it better. I just wanted to reply because I could relate. I guess time will help, and finding others who feel the same, definitely makes me feel better. It's nice to have someone to relate too, instead of feeling so alienated. Good luck to you. Hang in there!!

Camp nursing
I also did this over the summer. It was arranged through a friend and I'm not sure that they will need me this year. I would like to do it again. My daughter is 9. Any ideas on how to go about finding a camp to work at? Thanks!

Nurses still paying on their student loans
How exactly do you find out if your hospital is one that participates? It never says how to specifically find your hospital...

What do you think of Tampa General ?
Misty1334, I know it's been awhile, but did Tampa General relocate you to Fl or did you apply once you had moved down there? Just curious. I have a phone interview today and was wondering if they consider relocation...

Confrontational co-workers!!!!!
I think that, no matter what you said to DON, they had no right to corner you like that. That is very unprofessional and should be dealt with accordingly. This is the kind of behavior that needs to be brought to a screeching halt! I hope that you address that aspect of it. It's called Lateral Violence.

Oakwood Hospital-Good or Bad?
I had a clinical there and saw many of the same things! It was horrible. I will hopefully never be a patient there or work there. It was horrible. I would have loved the spy role. I would have done it in a minute. I saw the aides do some nasty stuff to patients and the nurses just allowed it. I spoke up to my instructors and made sure that no other students will be put on that floor. The funniest thing was that the one nurse that was the nastiest to us was another 4th term student's preceptor and acted so sweet to her. We couldn't figure that one out!

Beaumont Hospital
FYI, there is a typo in the post that is referenced above. It states that those things "should be posted here". I think you were going for "should not be".

Everest Institute
My cousin went there and I think she is realizing many of the same things that you stated. In my opinion, I wouldn't trust it. Why go there when you could go to a community college and then if you want to further your education, your credits could count towards your advancement?

Oakwood Hospital-Good or Bad?
I had my first clinicals at Oakwood Main this fall. I can tell you that we did not have a good experience on our floor at all. I have friends whose moms work in the NICU there and say that they love it. It might be a different world in the ICU's than it is on a MedSurg floor. I think the nurses were rude. It took weeks for them to acknowledge our presence and only a very few were nice enough to let us work with them and explain things to us. I think it depends on where you are there. I have friends who do student work at Oakwood Heritage and they love it. I think they are on the Oncology floor. Again, I really think that it depends on what floor you are on. Good Luck.
