  1. Students and recent graduates told me the college has had low pass rates for the NCLEX for the past few semesters. If you need more details than that, take a trip to the college and talk to the students in the program that are to soon graduate. The best advice I can give you is to be your own best advocate. Do your research and find out everything you can before enrolling. Once again goodluck:nurse:
  2. :confused:Beware if you are thinking of attending this college. I have heard the same thing from students that are attending and those that have graduated. Just make sure you check your facts before enrolling. Thats a lot of money to waste, especially if the school is in jeopardy. Make sure to find out from a creditable source not by asking the college. Goodluck:nurse:
  3. There is no time committment or penalty. I just don't want to spend the majority of my time on step down.
  4. Hi Guys, I just graduated from an accelerated BSN program in August. I plan to apply to CRNA school after a couple years of ICU experience. I have been interviewing for ICU jobs and have received 2 job offers.:yelclap: The first position is at a level 1 trauma center in Surgical ICU 7pm-7am. The problem: when I applied for the position, it was posted as a Surgical ICU position. Once I went to the interview, the manager explained to me that I would cross train for Intermediate(Step Down, 20 bed unit combined). I am only interested in the Surgical ICU. I do not want to work in Intermedicate or Step Down. They offer 16 weeks of training along with a residency program that last for 12 months. I am afraid that if I take this position, I may end up working a great deal of time in Intermediate which would not help me in getting the ICU experience that I need to prepare for CRNA school. The second job offer is at a smaller hospital, 299 beds to be exact. They have an ICU that consists of 12 beds. If I take the position, I would be an ICU nurse. The manager told me that they are a general ICU and take all types of ICU patients. She says that I would see and experience a great deal. This facility also does not have residents. The training is 12 weeks and if needed I could ask for more training time. The position is also during the day 7am-7pm. I am not sure which position I should take that will help me the most in the long run. I am affraid that if I take the Surgical ICU/cross train Intermediate position that I may not get the experience that I need to go on to CRNA school. If I take the ICU position at the smaller facility, would I still get accepted into a CRNA program? Those of you that are CRNA's, in CRNA school, or ICU nurse's...please provide me with the best advice possible. Thanks.
  5. Hi, Thanks so much for the information. I will live on campus. They do have 24 hr security. The program is 2 nights a week and also weekend classes. I will have to probably get a job. How is the job market in Peoria?
  6. Hi, thanks so much....What is it like living in the peoria area..I am thinking of just staying on campus because I do not know anything about the area.I will be coming from out of state.
  7. Hi guys, Wanted everyone to know that I got my letter in the mail...So excited!! Starting the program in Jan. 2010...What a great way to start off the new year!!!:heartbeat Does anyone know anything about the college and there program? Is anyone planning on going to the Open House at the end of the month??:loveya:
  8. Yes, out of all the nursing programs in the state of GA that give Hesi exit (which are many), this one has the most tries at 10. Most schools in GA only have 2 or 3 tries.
  9. My friend taking hesi in georgia finally passed on the 6th try. They have a total of 10!!
  10. Hi... Did you ever go to the information session at Methodist College of Nursing?
  11. Methodist college of nursing peoria il
  12. Hey, Methodist College of Nursing in Peoria does not require Hesi.
  13. I am going to be an out of state student starting an accelerated BSN program in Il. What exactly is the ACE program offered in Il? What does the ACE stand for and is there a website to get more information? Thanks
  14. Hi just wanted to find out if you went to the information session at Methodist College of Nursing...If so could you email me the information and let me know what was said?? I am so excited. Hate that I was not able to attend this one. Thanks for the info.
  15. Start applying to programs for the spring Jan. 2010. Also look into other BSN programs especially if that is were you started out. Since it is already August, you may not be able to get in for Fall 09. Continue to apply, don't give up... GoodLuck!!
  16. Hi, Just wanted to touch bases with you. Do you still plan to go to the information session on Tuesday Aug. 4th at MCON? I will not be able to attend that one, but if you go I would like to contact you on Tuesday night to get info. and find out what they were talking about. Let me know if you are going? Thanks:lol2:
  17. One more question. When you talked to people at the schools that you applied to, was there any specific person that you talked to about your situation, maybe recruiter, nursing advisor, director of nursing etc.?? I want to get an idea of who exactly I should be trying to speak with about my situation. Thanks
  18. That's true. It is better to start where you plan to finish the program, because nursing credits are unlikely to transfer. And by all means avoid HESI!!
  19. Thank God!! I am very happy for you. I was in a simular situation. I did not pass my last class before graduation senior year and was dismissed from program. I already have a BA so now I am looking for an acelerated program so I can finish sooner. I have applied to one and they are evaluating my previous nursing classes. I have prayed about it, but am still so nervous. If I get in, the program starts in Jan. Do you have any additional advice? Thanks
  20. Hi, Thanks for your info. In the new program, did you have to start over? Are they taking any of your previous nursing classes? What did the nursing school say that you are going to? Thanks.
  21. Hi, I don't know if you are willing to drive, but there is one at Methodist College of Nursing in Peoria IL. It is a Accelerated BSN 5 semester program that starts in Spring. Hope this helps.
  22. do you know anything about Methodist College of Nursing in peoria, or do you know anyone that goes there?
  23. I am so sorry. I was thinking you meant Columbus State University in Columbus GA. But I do know that Clayton State also has an exit program. So I would continue to look for schools that don't.
  24. No I do not have a list. I am from GA, and to my knowledge over 97% of the Nursing Programs have some sort of exit exam. If not Hesi there is one of some other type. Georgia Baptist in Atlanta does not have a exit exam. I would just call around and ask the schools you are interested in. I am in the process of looking into programs and found a BSN program up north that does not require and entrance or an exit exam. Thanks
  25. Wow, thanks so much. What are some of the things you do to prepare for clinicals? Are the instructors big with on the spot calculations during clincals? Do you all have calculations test, and if so how many calculations, how many can you miss, how many times do they give you to pass? What do you do to prepare for test? Thanks so much, you have been a great help. Just wish I could find someone from Methodist also. Thanks:uhoh3:
