  1. I just took it May 23, there were a ton of questions about evidenced base practice, HIPPA, nursing research. I was expecting more clinical questions, but those were few and far between. BTW I passed.
  2. I hate to say it, but sex is on the first rung of Maslow's Hierarchy and this woman very obviously needed some needs met. I can't say I would be comfortable buying a sexual assitive device (is that the proper way to say it?) though. Just when you thought nothing could shock you anymore.
  3. Hi new GN here, If anyone has made or knows of anywhere to get a really good report sheet, can you pass it along to me? TIA Steph:nurse:
  4. Oh crap did I just call myself a monster? See what happens when your brain has been in hell for 3 years?
  5. Congratulations!! I'm so happy for you guys. It'll be over before you know it. Celebrate your families this summer and try to regain your sanity before it starts all over . I'M DONE!! CANNOT BELIEVE IT!! SOMEBODY PINCH ME!! 1st part of the NCLEX review was this week and the second part is next week. My next big hurdle is passing the NCLEX and me and the fam are going to Disney World!! BTW I loved s.t. for pharm and MS3. If there was one instructor I'd want to be like it'd be her.
  6. Again, do you get it?, you say you do, but it doesn't seem to be clicking. I'm not saying people should or shouldn't. I just want to let them know what's available. EKG interpretation was covered extensively in our first test. Like I said before, my comments were for the students currently enrolled at WCCCD. And as for the attitude, well, take it how you want. I'm done discussing this. I've got to study. PEACE
  7. You don't get it. I'm not trying to debate whether or not they are worthwhile or not, I'm talking about surviving school, what's the use of trying to look good for an employer, if you don't get through school? I see you've been an RN for 2 years. Good for you. Those of us who are posting in this thread are still students trying to survive school. I lost a lot of classmates in MS2 that would have really benefitted from this type of info. I'm not trying to push extra courses off on anyone, but the point is, that the availability of these Nursing classes are not even made known to us currently enrolled at WCCCD. So I advise people to check out what's available that's all.
  8. I disagree, if you decide you're going to work in critical care EKG interpretation is mandatory and if you haven't taken MS2 yet, it's invaluable and gives you a leg up on that first test, which is a monster. Like I said these classes are outside of the Nursing program so if you don't do well, it's not held against you and plus they are really cheap. I like being proactive. Why wait for ACLS?
  9. Hey guys, You have to score better than the North American Average, which right now is 57. I strongly suggest you do NCLEX questions before you take it, There was a ton of OB, Psych and weird cardiac drugs on there. :zzzzz BTW, I was on Webgate today and I found a WHOLE section of NURSING classes not being offered by the Nursing dept. They're available through Workforce development. A few of the courses are: NCLEX exam prep EKG interpretation Nursing careplans and documentation Nursing student study skills RN First Assist- Theory and clinical So look into it Steph:bugeyes:
  10. I'm taking it this Tuesday, so I'll let you know. Steph
  11. When I was accepted two years ago, they told us in Lottery that they had 100% passage rate. They also had 100% passage rate for the December grads. You can always ask the Nursing Dept. and they'll tell you. We have to take an RN assessment exam, a TOTAL review of all material and a Sylvia Rayfield review before they will even send our info to the state. It's all free and just a little tedious, but well worth it. And by the way, they are moving to the new campus on Outerdrive which should be awesome.
  12. OMG!!! DO NOT BELIEVE THAT CRAP!!!! Ms. Thomas is hard, she makes you think about what you are doing and why. She give WAY more info on most subjects than most other instructors. I had her for pharm and MS3 and I don't regret it for a minute. She is one of the most accomplished instructors in the program. She teaches at OCC, write for the NCLEX and teaches sixclasses/clinicals. People talk crap about her because she doesn't take any crap. She is always professional, which you will come to appreciate. The thing most people have issues with in pharm is that she wants to know what you will do if your patient has an adverse reaction, so she's really big on interventions and patient teaching. Congrats and good luck! Don't get discouraged, you're halfway there!!! This is you in two semesters- Steph:yeah:
  13. :nono:I agree with the other posters. I graduate in May from WCCCD, and I have SIX job offers, I stopped applying because I couldn't keep it all straight. Don't believe everything you hear. The program at WCCCD is just as good as if not better than any other nursing program. Our instructors teach at Wayne State, OU, Davenport and others just to name a few. We get the same quality education as any other nurse, but I think we come out better because we don't pay through the nose to get it. While you're doing your research of nursing programs (which you should be if you haven't been accepted anywhere yet), check out our NCLEX passage rate. Steph
  14. Hi Everyone, As part of an International/Transcultural Nursing trip my school is sending 30 nursing students and three instructors to London to tour hospitals, sit in on lectures and see how things are done on the other side of the pond. So, tell me what is Nursing in the UK really like? What do you love most and what would you change? Thanks in advance, Steph
  15. Hey Missgigi, What unit are you on at Harper?
