  1. GenXnurse, Thanks. Like I said before, I will not be in the nursing program until next fall and yes, of course I look at the money. Who doesnt when they are looking into what career field they would like to pursue. It would be great to do exactly what you love, but in most cases that just isn't an option when you have a family to provide for. I think it would be great to be a nurse on many levels, and with more school and a lot of determination, being a CRNA can provide a great life to my family. It's funny, I have been a member for only a couple of days now and this is the first time I have had a chance to talk to professionals in this field and it sounds like a lot of people judge you and question you when you tell them your goals....CRNA. Maybe its just me. Thanks again for your help.
  2. Hey thanks KCKSTRT! So it sounds like you like Barens?! That is the hospital I really want to work at. We live right out of STL on the IL side. Thats good to hear RN's will be getting a raise. So is it typical to be able to get 4 12's in a week there as a new grad? Just looking to see what kind of pay to expect. Hey, good luck in ATL. Im sure you'll do great.
  3. Wow, that is a lot of very usefull information. As I have stated before, I am seperating from the military and will be in the nursing program next fall. My goal is to become a CRNA and it has been for a long time. It is great that these people will take the time to give people like me advice, encouragement, and not blow us off. I sure do appreciate it guys! Now I have read several different postings and stuff on the internet and want ask whoever really knows what is going on to give me their advice. My question is when will they require a doctorate's degree to become a CRNA? I've heard everything from 2025 to 2015 all the way down to 2011. This will not change my mind about becoming a CRNA but will definitely change the way I go about things. If anyone has any insight to this please let me know. Once again, thanks to all those who take the time for others pursuing this career!
  4. I am not even a nurse yet. I will be in the nursing program next fall. My goal is to be a CRNA but i know it is very competitive. I've been focused on one school for the CRNA program in the midwest. Should i expand that and look at several schools? Does anyone know about or go to SIUE?? Thanks guys
  5. what if your not ready after orientation?
  6. how long is typical orientation?
  7. what can someone expect in orientation? Do they go over everything with you before you start working?? thanks.
