  1. Hello, I was soo.. glad to see this post because I am not 40 but 45 years old pursuing nursing. I am currently enrolled at GSU but I didn't apply with their nursing program because I had one of the instructors to tell me they are strictly GPA basis. There was one girl in my HHS class who got in the program and she told me that her GPA was a 3.80. I agree with everyone else try a two year school or get your CNA but don't give up. I would try Gordon College, GPC, or North Georgia but just know that whatever God has for you is yours and don't let anyone discourage you. I know several people that are 50 years old and are now a RN. I am going to apply with GPC and Gordon College for Spring 2012, because I have completed all of my prerequisites so hang in there and don't get discouraged nor GIVE UP!!!
  2. Thanks everyone for the information!!:) I have noticed where some school give you the score that is needed for their school like Gordon, GSU, and Mercer so I guess the school will let you know what score is proficient for the TEAS. I am not taking the TEAS test until January because I got to study.
  3. Hello, I know there are a lot of posts about the TEAS exam on this website, but I have a question. How do you know if you score is proficient, exemplary, advanced because it did not say on my TEAS test when I had taken it. It just had the National and Mean score for the school and above it stated my ADJUSTED SCORE which was taken at Gordon College. I do have to admit it has been a year now since I have taken the TEAS because I had changed my major to HIM. I have now decided to go back and get my RN degree so this is why I wanted to know about the scores. My score was very low and it was the 4.0 not the 5.0. I have to admit I did not prepare myself for the test. I just wanted to know because I am applying at GPC, Clayton, West Ga for the fall semester. I am scheduled to take the test in November. I hear TEAS 5.0 is hard so I have started studying for the exam so I can get my proficient score. :)
  4. :nurse:I for one was thinking about not pursing nursing because of my grades. I fear I will not get in the nursing program because I am not a straight "A" student. I am more like an average "B" student, so I have been going back and forth about doing nursing. I am currently enrolled at GSU and I had the teacher herself to tell me they take the high GPA's first. I hear that nursing is very stressful and it will take on toll on your health lifting up patients. I talked to my Godmother and she told me that I can't be listening to what everybody has to say about nursing and this is so TRUE. We all get stressed at times and fear things but that is part of life, so I am just going to continue to keep my head up and pray. I have come to far to let go now.:redbeathe
  5. ITA agree about the ATI book being different from the test. I have the 4.0 ATI study guide and I do not have the money to buy the 5.0 study guide. My girlfriend bought the McGraw Hill book for me to study but I am like everyone else.... I am freaking out:eek: I see all of the schools are going to the 5.0 TEAS test and I just want to know what is the score needed because I am not good with MATH!!! I take my test next month so pray for me.:redbeathe
  6. Please apply to more than one school! I realized my mistake for just applying at one school, but I got a lot of advice from this website:nurse: and was told to apply to more than one school. I was told to apply for ASN/BSN schools and whoever accepts me first go for it. The more schools you apply I believe there is a good chance you will get accepted to one or more; you never know.:)
  7. I am going to apply with at least 5 schools. Some of my friends have went to Alabama for their RN because they got so FED up:rolleyes: with GA schools. I will be attending Georgia State in the Fall. I still have other classes to take with them because it is required to be taken at their school only. I think I am going to apply with Mercer, Univ of West Ga, Clayton, GPC, and Emory. I do know one thing.... I AM NOT GIVING UP ON MY DREAM!!!!!
  8. Yes I live in McDonough, GA and I have heard about North Georgia but I am going to apply to several schools instead of applying to just 1 school. Thanks for the info!:)
  9. All that matters is u are in the program now. Your determination and not giving up gives me a lot of inspiration. Good Luck!!!!
  10. :up:Yes, I will not give up. I know if you went through all those schools getting denied and you never gave up; then it can happen to me as well. I glad you shared your story with me because you really have made my day. :redpinkheYou are SO right about me worrying about the competitiveness because that is what I am doing, but not anymore. Thank you for that advice!!
  11. I am going to apply with all schools. I have taken all my perquistes. I made a B in Chem I and Chem II. I would like to take A& P I again because I made a C but I was told by my advisor it would make any difference. My english, math, statistics all transferred from another college. I will apply with Gordon College again. Good Luck to you!!!
  12. I do believe it can happen. I really do not want to do LPN than bridge over for RN. I don't want to take my sciences over again. I guess I will do the BS in Healthcare Management.
  13. Thanks for the advice.:redbeathe I don't see myself going for LPN then bridging over. I am a Registered Medical Assistant and LPN is just as competitive as RN. I am attending Georgia State in the Fall. I am studying hard now for the TEAS exam. I am going to apply with Alabama schools along with Ga schools. I will apply with Gordon College again but I don't see doing LPN when I have completed all of my prequistes. I will just do the BS in HIM then go Nursing later. I was going through a lot during the time I applied with Gordon, because I had two uncles that passed away back to back. Nursing may not be want the Lord has planned. I will try one more time and if I can't get in then I will go for my BS in HIM.
  14. Hello, I have tried three attempts at Gordon College Nursing program and was denied each time. I ended up changing my major to Healthcare Information Management because I was determined to leave there with a degree. Now I have completed all of my sciences, along with all my prequistes for the BSN program. I was so distraught:crying2: by not getting in the ADN that I gave up on nursing when it has always been a DREAM:redbeathe FOR ME TO BE A NURSE. I never made any attempts to apply at other schools because of me being denied at Gordon College, but everyone kept telling me not to give up & keep on trying. I really don't know what my gpa is but when I left there it was a 2.95 gpa. I am not a "A" student but I have taken all my sciences; A&P I&II made a C, B and Micro an A along with Chem I and II which I made a B in those classes. I made a very low score on TEAS exam and now I see it has been changed to the 5.0. What do I need to do to get in the program. I am applying with several schools for Spring 2011 because my sciences expire in 2012. I didn't apply for Fall 2010 because I had gave up!! Please help me in choosing which direction to go. I don't know what to do!! Should I go for my dream which is nursing or get my Bachelor's in Health Information Management and then go back to nursing but I am getting older not younger. Someone help me with some advice, please!!!!
