  1. List yourself with a few companies maybe 4. Check to see how many companies are under the same parent company. That will save you from duplicate forms to fill out. If your Nursing license is in a compact state, you have 24 states to job hunt in. Your license will be verified online. Start looking now so you don't get caught without a job!
  2. Maybe a cheap package offering....Epic is the best out there now, in my opinion.
  3. Worked a contract in Tucson last summer and loved it. Hot, Hot and Hot, love every minute of it and will go back in a heart beat. Years ago I worked in Phoenix, but not the small town atmosphere as Tucson. Tucson is spread out, easy to navigate, friendly people and many "things" to do. Don't hesitate to go there and experience many wonderful nature offerings, they are plentiful.
  4. I did for my 2nd assignment and fell in love with the staff, hospital, snow, moose, sled dogs, you name it I love it and will go back maybe this 2013 winter. More fun than FL, CA, AZ do I need to say more. Yes I love the hot tub, sun bathing and all that hot stuff too! Love the up close and personal Iditaroid and all the events that went with it....God is Good!!!
  5. I love Alaska...Will go back...Providence is awsome and so are the staff..Thought I died and went to heaven. Love the Moose, Sled Dogs, Snow and the beauty GOD made for us to see in Alaska. No I did not see Russia ....Just beautiful everything.....
  6. There are many companies to choose from in any location. Find some in the area you want to work by google search and or yellow pages. Call them or send a message and find out if they have positions for your field. Go from there.
  7. Do all colleges, brick and mortar/on-line require clinicals for ADN to BSN????
  8. Check CA BOA web page for nursing license requirements. Pay specific attention to the finger pring portion. If you travel to CA and get the digital finger prints the license will come quicker. Look up any state you want to get RN license, there is where you get their information and not second hand info.

Go with your gut instinct. If a job doesn't feel right over the telephone it will only be worse when you get there and try to work. Just my 0.2
  10. When my feet hurt I hurt all over....Anyone else expeience this? Love my Skechers!!!
  11. I was not impressed with their web prices as they are similar to store prices. They do look good in many styles. Danskos are too hard with little cushion, never found a comfortable pair that fits.
  12. Sounds like you need to visit a DOCTOR and see whay you have foot pain. Be a good nurse and get the appointment tomorrow!!
  13. I have not heard about this, will look into this now. Thanks for the info.
  14. Sounded like a good deal, the hospital paid out big bucks for you. Sure could have used that myself..but counted my blessings to get a job and experience. My drive was 110 miles to work round trip. Now I'm a Travel Nurse. Get paid experience and spread your wings after the fact. Find the positives in your job, co workers and your personal life.
  15. Hi dcfashionista, What kind of insole? I have worn out at least 2 pairs maybe 3 of skecher's. I have non skid for work and the regular ones for "play". I got skecher sandals last fall and love them!! Their price is going down, which is much appreciated.
  16. Of course the babies are swaddled, with hats on...PP nurses do a head to toe each 8 hrs...in between this we take their vitals, monitor their I&O, feedings, weigh, change their bottoms, yes the blankes and nities come off..They are bathed under a radiant warmer when their temp is stable. It appears many of these comments are from nurses that haven't actually worked in Post Partum/Mother/Baby. Don't forget what may be in the human body secretions, blood, urine and feces, not to mention spit up. To thine own self be true, so you may be true to your patient, family and all you come in contact with. This is for a normal birthing even after stabilization has been acheived....
  17. Do you think all the ADN schools will be closed? Too bad for community colleges and the Nurse instructors...
  18. When ADN schools close, start worrying about hospitals not wanting to hire them. Some won't, (or they claim), stay away from them. Remember it is the same NCLEX for everyone to pass, some need a couple of years to do this some need 4....Working along side ADN, BSN, MSN, is not detectable...same work and usually the same pay....More education only helps advance your career and gives you something to talk about and be proud of too! Getting your foot in the door is the main thing!
  19. Sign up with several companies...Don't limit yourself to just 2. There are too many companies out there willing to work with their nurses. If we aren't working they aren't getting paid either....
  20. I am a surgical technologist..took pretty much the same courses as RN...Worked and traveled as CST/ST. Never getting the same respect as RN's I went back to school and am RN now. also worked in sterile processing, washing, racking and steralizing instruments...steam, gas, specialized washers for instruments such as scopes...Not in the OR now, but sure do miss it and maybe will get the opportunity to return. Moving heavy instruments, equipment, and stretchers is a constant. Thinking on your feet and moving like an assembly line worker is a must...
  21. This post needs to be moved to a different thread. Responding and not having knowledge of compact requirements and union requirements should not happen. Good Bye!
  22. I am a compact RN with multiple license....We are finger printed, back ground check, credit check, child support check...on and on with our CHECKS. Sure some must fall fall thru the crack, but whose fault is that?
  23. I love Epic charting...All the needed information is there, select and click all that applies.
  24. Not knowing the big picture makes all the difference in the world. Maybe they were short in the nursery or the infant needed special care or another infant in the nursery did...unknown factors slow down the process of getting the babies out to parents.
  25. Yes and that is one reason my RV is parked. However I miss not being in my own place with all my own stuff.
