  1. I go to Atlantic Union College in Lancaster, MA and it is ugly lol but tradition
  2. today was the day, my last day as a student nurse!!!! i took my awful final today which was full of patho (what???) yeah we weren't prepared for that...but i did well and i cried when i was done. this was a quick 2 years and now on to my bsn although there will be a nice year long break in between. for all of you new students out there, enjoy nursing school, yes you will be stressed beyond belief but you will laugh, cry and make new friends that you could never imagine your lives without. enjoy nursing!
  3. We definately still do the traditional white nurses dress and cap for our pinning ceremony!!! The caps are awful but it is a tradition and yes we have a specially designed cap that is unique to our school.
  4. The fact that a 92 is a B+ does suck! I am totally content with my B...I also am a single mom and work 2 hours aa week at a Hospital so I think I am really fortunate to have mde it with a B lol.
  5. I am actually moving TO Florida for a New Grad training program because of the lack of available jobs for New Grads in MA. I will be graduating with my ASN in May and doing an internship for 12 months then getting my BSN through FCHS. Katie :loveya:
  6. Hey everyone, I passed third semester (Med Surg 2) but I am curious as to how many people actually get A's in nursing school. We only had 2 girls (no guys in our class) get A- (92%). The majority got C's and B- and only 6 (including myself) got B's. I mean honestly I didn't kill myself studying this semester and I managed to pull off an 86% but it seems like even if you do study your butt off we are all gonna end up with B's!!! Any other schools experience this?
  7. EEK!!! My school didn't do too hot in 2007 so they have been kicking the 2008 and 2009 (mine) classes a$$es!! We'll show them!!
  8. I am currently a second year nursing student and I have heard the stories of not being able to find jobs here in Massachusetts. I actually work at a Worcester hospital and know quite a few new grads who also WORK HERE and could not get hired as RN's. We had a recruiter from Florida Hospital system come up to talk to us about their training programs. I am planning on moving to Florida for a few years (with my son) to train in their link to your future program and get my BSN through them as well. After the 2 years of experience (I realize the pay is lower) I plan on moving back to the northeast (unless I fall in love with Florida). And YES, I know about the low pay, and the traffic and the hot weather and all of the negatives but I feel it is worth it to get some great training in to further my career. Katie
  9. I have that book and we all used it, I'm pretty sure it was the signs and symptoms that killed me. The thing is, I know I will use this knowledge for the rest of my career as an RN so I am determined to get it right. I know my ABG's back and forth and everything Chemistry related, it was my application of the signs and symptoms I'm 90% sure
  10. I cannot believe it, I studied so hard and knew so much but not enough. I got a 76 and our passing grade is 77!!! I haven't done this bad on an exam yet and I am devestated :angryfire I need to know what I did wrong so I can fix it but our Prof is out now. Also more that half the class failed (25 people in fact). Please someone tell me that I am not the only one who thought that F&E was sooo hard!!!!!:o:o:o
  11. After I posted I found some great links on here thanks for all of your help! The tic tac toe method? Never heard of it but I would love if you wanted to share
  12. Hi There!!! Does anyone out there have any tricks for interpreting ABG results to determine Resp/Metabolic Acidosis/Alkalosis. We are going to get ABG lab examples on our next exam (Tuesday) and we will need to determine what the labs represent. Example PaO2 90 SaO2 95 pH 7.48 PaCO2 32 HCO3 24 Answer Respiratory alkalosis Are there any "good" ways to remember the ups and downs of these lab values, or am I stuck memorizing? Thanks, Katie
  13. I am taking it now, it's been 2 weeks, and the only side effect I have had was the morning after the first day I took it. I had sever abdominal cramping and radiating pain during a bowel movement. I have not had any oily discharge, diarrhea, gas, leakage NOTHING! I am starting to wonder if the stuff is really working lol
  14. I wouldn't because I know what kind of HIPPA violations happen with a lot of people at the hospital I work for. When I was MUCH younger I went to the ER for drinking too much at a college party and now it lists "alchohol abuse" in my records. We all know we are not supposed to but who is really there to stop a prospective employer from taking a quick peek into anyones files.
