Forced overtime
No, I do mon thru Fri, 730 to 430. Then the couple on call shifts each week. Just hate it! And when we have a bad night on call we still have to do our shift the next day. Ugg.

Forced overtime
Mostly the hospice patients with issues or death pronouncements. I rarely will go out for regular home care patients.

Forced overtime
Hi, can anyone tell me if this is legal. I work in Home Health. A case manager, Monday thru Friday 7 to 430. We are short handed and don't have an on call night nurse right now. So we, the day nurses, are forced to take the call shifts. So this means we work all day till 430, then start the call shift at 430 until 730 the following morning. Then begin our next day shift until 430. It works out to be a 36 hr shift. Non stop. We are at home while on call, but at times we are also out seeing patients all night. The last 36hr shift I did, I only got 3 hrs if sleep.I know Massachusetts changed the laws for forced overtime, but does this apply to on call?

Those who failed on Kaplan are scaring many!
I used Kaplan, scored high 50's low 60's on their tests and passed NCLEX in 75 questions. Kaplan was great IMO.

Nclex today, freaking out. Only had 75Q.
ok, I dont know if there is any way to make anyone feel better while they wait for the results.... BUT.... I took my test last week, I had 2 math questions that I had no idea how to do, so we will assume I got those wrong, I had meds I never heard of and 25 SATA questions. The computer shut off at 75! I burst into tears, and continued to cry and throw up for the following 48 hours. I was POSITIVE I failed!!! I didnt answer one question with any confidence.......Guess what.. I passed. You all need to try and think positive (did you read the Secret? (jk) Hang in there..... you will make it, and I bet you passed!!!!

New Grad interview experiences
This was my killer... "You have 2 patients in need of care, which would you see first?" I said "the pt that was the least stable" Her: "They are both exactly the same and critical." Me: "they are both critical?, Then I would ask another nurse to assist me" Her: "there is no one to assist you, which would you see first?" Me: "Well, I would just have to do a quick assessment on each, and based on the pt hx I would see the more critical pt, no two pt are exactly the same at the same time." Her: "OK" Jeeeze, ***, how do you answer that question!!!! Seriously!

Ok, so where is the nursing shortage?
So I have been applying as a new grad RN for a few months and I have had a few interviews... but no offers. They all say that they are only hiring 5 or 1 or 2 new grads.... whats the deal?????? This is mostly west of Worcester, and I have read that Boston is the same!! I hear nothing back from Worcester hospitals. I have not applied at nursing homes yet, but will if I have to. I was wondering how many others were having a hard time??

DHMC/Cheshire Medical Center Keene
Hi, did anyone apply to the new grad intern program here? I had an interview and they said they would call by the end of April with a decision. Its May , I still have not heard back yet. The interview was 3 hrs long, with 3 different people. I thought it went well.... but..... still have not heard.. . I called them and didnt get a call back last week. The only good thing is that I didnt get the famous "Thank you for your intrest, we will keep your application on file" letter. So am I still in the running??? Anyone else that applied get an offer yet?

Out of the mouths of babes
My 6yo daughter fell at school on the playground and scraped her knee. She was sent to the nurse and the nurse squatted down and said "awww you have a boo-boo", my dd said "Nooooo, I have an abrasion". She got such a kick out of it and when she told me about it I told her my profession and she now understood. We always use correct terms, but admit that we both say "vajayjay" as well. I love that word, hahaha, cracks me up.
