  1. Does anyone have a good shift worksheet for at least 6 med/surg patients? I'd like to be able to carry one simple worksheet throughout the day and then use it during shift report. I am not too computer savvy, and I would really appreciate some examples. Thanks!!
  2. Thank you for sharing all of this information! I start my new job on Monday, and I will definately refer to your advice, and all of the other advice given in this thread. Everyone has been so helpful and willing to offer advice/tips and I just love this site! I am so thankful to have this site and fellow nurses to help answer questions. I've learned so much and have been comforted and educated hearing from other nurses who have contributed their advice, knowledge, etc. Thanks!!!
  3. Thanks. I really enjoy hearing how others do things. I am sure that I will get my own routine when I start working, buti do find it very helpful hearing from experienced nurses. Thank you for sharing.
  4. Hi, I am going to start my first job on a med-surg floor next week. I've been asking fellow nurses for advice regarding the daily routine. Everyone has given me such good advice, but a few nurse friends of mine tend to disagree on the morning assessment. Some say that they do a Complete head-to-toe right assessment after getting report, but others say they basically do a focused assessment after getting report. Those nurses who did a focused assessment each had different techniques. Both were equally impressive to me and made me wonder how other nurses did their focused assessments. So, if any of you med-surg nurses would be willing to share your assessment techniques with me, I would Love to hear all about it. Being new to the nursing field, I love to hear from other nurses whenever I can. Thank you for sharing!! GJ
  5. I live in Texas and graduated from an ADN program in May of this year. I just got my RN license in the mail today. I found a few internships, but they are over an hour and a 1/2 (one way) from me. I would like to find something closer to home since the gas prices are so high these days. I'm thinking about applying anyway. There are hospitals closer to me, but they seem to require at least 1 year experience. I'm considering applying at a skilled nursing home that is close to home. Any thoughts about starting out in a nursing home/skilled nursing unit? Thanks for the advice! Jogi
  6. Have you tried doing the NCSBN online NCLEX review course? I used it for one week before taking my NCLEX, and I found it to be very helpful. You can go to http://www.learningext.com/ to check out the courses they offer. Good Luck! Jogi
  7. Hi, I am a recent grad, and I am having such a hard time finding a job!! I have found a couple of positions that I would really love to have, but they require at least 1 year experience. Where can a new grad with no hospital experience find a job?? Someone recommend starting at a nursing home or skilled nursing unit and then applying for a hospital job. Anyone have any tips for me? I'm ready to start working!! Thanks!!
  8. Hello, I have been doing practice questions and there is one question that my friend and I disagree with each other about.I would like to get your input.. The question is: A nurse is doing triage at a disaster scene. Which client would she treat first? A. A girl with 2 fingers amputated. B. A girl with a closed forearm fracture. C. A man complaining of headache and dizziness. D. A young boy with 3rd degree burns over 98 percent of his body. Which answer would you choose? Just curious, Thanks!!
  9. Thanks! Several people have recommended the NCSBN learningtext.com review course and I am wondering if there is anybody on this site who has used the review course and found it helpful. A 3 weeks subscription is $49. I don't really want to purchase it unless it is worth the price. Any thoughts? Thanks everyone!
  10. Hello Everyone! I have been reading this post and the random facts are really an awesome way to supplement studying! I have been reading that so many people have gotten so many SATA questions on the NCLEX. This really scares me since I usually miss these questions on the practice exams. I am wondering if anyone knows of a website that offers (free, of course) practice SATA questions. I test on the 20th and I am really starting to freak out about it! I have really bad test anxiety, but I am going to try my best to stay calm and stay focused on the big day. Thanks for the info and Congrats to everyone who passed the NCLEX!!
  11. thank you for the great information! :yeah:the websites are very informative, and have helped me a lot.
  12. Hi, I am just wondering if anyone knows of a website that has practice problems for tpa dosages. I know the tpa formula, but want to practice using it. Any and all tips are appreciated!! Thanks!!
  13. Thanks for sharing! I am hoping to have an interview for an internship with a local hospital very soon. I am starting to panic and I am super worried about the interview questions I may be asked. I have been a stay-at-home mom for many years and have no experience with interviews. I'm so worried that I will get to the interview and freeze up or say something crazy because of the nerves. Or, even worse, not answer the scenario questions correctly! I graduated in May and at this moment in time, I feel as though I do not remember anything! I'm sure it has to do with my rattled nerves, but is it normal for a new grad to feel this way? I really want this internship. Any tips to help relieve my stress/anxiety is appreciated. It really helps to read about different interview experiences. Thanks for sharing.
  14. Great! I am available to work now. I just looked at the baylor website and was able to apply online. Has anyone heard anything about Baylor internships? Thanks!!
  15. Thanks. I will look at their websites and will start making calls tomorrow. Hopefully, I will have an internship soon! I'm so excited to start working!! Thanks so much
