  1. In the packet, the letter from Meridy's said the order/payment deadline was Nov. 14th. That is why I already ordered my uniforms and probably the same for most other people. If I would've known that was an option, I may have chosen that route instead. I'm beginning to worry that my pants will be too small- but hey, it's a good motivation to quickly begin losing some weight!!
  2. yea, that's a good idea..
  3. Any of you for the day program that lives in Orange Park?
  4. Isn't that crazy since there was a big, bold statement across thier page stating that the drawstring's ran very big for females???
  5. School of acceptance: Florida Community College of Jax Science GPA: 3.33 Cumulative GPA: 3.73 Our school does not look at Gpa's (just has to be at least a 2.0) Everything is based on a point system; as a result though, those with a higher gpa have a higher number of points. You must also do well on the NAT as that score can definitely impact your total points.
  6. Which pants are running small- elastic or drawstring?
  7. That's good to know... At least we have a little more time before spending all that money! This whole process is so expensive!!! Apparently, I should've been saving for this, and didn't know it- It's not real good timing, considering Christmas is just around the corner!! At least we're in though- I'm definitely thankful for that!
  8. sorry for so may questions: it's just for me they are 2 diff. sizes, based on which one I go by. I'd like to know which seems to be more accurate
  9. so did you choose according to your current size or your measurements?
  10. did you order your uniforms by the size you wear? I thought the sizes and measurements didn't match... I'm having a hard time deciding what to order: I just had a baby, so I plan on losing weight over the next few months or longer. I don't want to order some pants but have them be too big if I continue to lose my "baby weight"
  11. one more suggestion... try to take the easy classes in 8 wks...it works out much better! then you'd only be taking 2 at a time, but 4 per semester
  12. I am only 21, but a SAHM to 3: ages 5, 14 months, and 10 weeks. I started my prereqs last year, right after I had my son. 4 months after he was born, I got pregnant again. I've been in school full-time ever since, throughout the entire pregnancy, pre-term labor and all. This semester, my classes (on campus) began when my daughter was 4 days old. I have not slept one night in over 14 months (my son had many medical issues also) and have made all A's except one. I just recently got accepted into the Nursing program and will begin in Jan. So, YES! You can do it! If you're unsure, maybe go for only 3. I would not recommend you taking all the "easy" classes up front- I would recommend taking maybe 2 "easy" classes w/ one science. If you take all the "easy" classes up front, you will be left with only the harder sciences to take all together at once, which would be much more difficult! Also, my suggestion is to try to take more online classes- I have taken everything online except all sciences and maths. It lessens the time you must spend away from your children. Just have the determination and tell yourself you're sacrificing now to be able to provide better for them in the future... You will get through it and be just fine! Good luck!
  13. I'll need to use my financial aid vouchers to buy my books, which I was told would be available for orientation... If I had that extra money, I'd definitely buy them via Amazon and then just wait for my check in the mail... Have you guys already ordered your uniforms? The size charts on the website seem a little off to me... ?!
  14. They'll have all our books available to buy at Orientation? Not sure how I'll afford that!!! Financial aid has always taken care of everything for me- I won't have it in time for that though. I was going to try Solantic.. Do you know if Northside Medical Clinic is cheaper than them? Also, do you have to make an appt. there for the physical/shots? I know you don't for the drug test. So far, I have completed the online background check and fingerprinting. Still, a lot to do! It doesn't say specifically in our paperwork: Do our shoes have to be ALL white? And is there a certain type we have to have? Also, I thought I read in another post that we could get our pants from somewhere other than the online compay they provided.. Is that true? It's hard to know which ones to order online, since you can't try them on!! Drawstring or not? Any info. would help....
  15. It's actually called Worksource. The website is www.worksourcefl.com I have an appt. to talk with the lady in Clay County next week. Definitely call them!! And, Congrats!
  16. TDA88- I'd definitely call there. Did you read my earlier post? They sent me a denial letter last Friday, due to a computational mistake. Yesterday, I received my acceptance packet. I do think there's some issues in that Nursing office- and the staff were incredibly rude!! The cut-off was 176.72, so if you had more points than that, you made it. (unless they screwed yours up like they did mine...) I saw a post that mentioned an ins. company that would help pay for shots for nursing students.... do you have any more info on that?
  17. I got a letter in the mail today of rejection- stating the cut off was 176 and I had 170....I HAD 190.24!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I called and they told me I'd have to attend an information session in 2 wks- BS!!! I went down there and FINALLY, after being SOO rude to me, they pulled my file and found the error- said they'd mail my packet! So, I'm in!!!! BUt, how ridiculous!?!?! I was devastated! Anyways, I look forward to meeting all you guys- will be glad to get my info in the mail:)
  18. Sorry, I meant which campus? I've heard the same thing- abt. 5 weeks usually.... I can barely stand it. I find myself running for the mail everyday, even though it's weeks away!!
  19. Congratulations! A bit of encouragement- thanks:) I have three kids under 4 and have just applied to my CC's nursing program. Always nice to hear from other mothers who are succeeding!! Way to go!
  20. It really depends on you! I took A&P I, Chem, and Psych all in one semester, plus worked, was pregnant and had 2 kids at home! A&P is mostly memorization- a LOT of it- But, if you want it bad enough it's definitely possible. I finished that semester w/ all A's, so maybe that will encourage you! Don't take on more than you feel you can handle because you definitely don't want your grades to suffer. My advice would be to find out from others the "good" teachers at your school- I had great teachers- lots of work still, but if they make it interesting, it'll be much easier to understand! You've already had many classes, so it's not like this is your first go at it... Good luck!
  21. blues24, The only classes that MUST be completed before applying are A&P I and II, Chemistry, College Algebra (or higher), and have to at least be enrolled in Microbiology. The other 5 classes can be completed while you're in the program. The only thing is that the more you have done, the more points you will have when applying. I just applied w/ 190 points- but I'm enrolled in Micro and sociology now, so that could've been an extra 28 points if I had those completed. But, why not apply now and see if I could get in w/out those extra points- see what I mean? Another suggestion- make sure you take the NAT early enough to be able to take it again before you apply. Almost always, you will score higher the 2nd time- it's the EXACT same test! But, you must wait 90 days between testing- and can only take it 2x in a year's time... Just keep those things in mind! Where are you taking your classes? Maybe I could recommend some teachers....
  22. I've applied to FCCJ.
  23. I would suggest taking Biochem & A&PII together and taking Micro separate, afterwards. I think you would do better in micro after having a good foundation from the previous classes. A&PII was not as much memorization as I (bones, muscles, etc.)
  24. tbell, Things will work out... I have a similar situation, as I started school last year around this time, after having my 2nd child in Aug. In Jan, found out I was pregnant again. Luckily, I still had many prereqs to complete, but it was rough being pregnant w/2 small kids at home, and working. I just had my daughter 6 weeks ago, and have a 13 month old and a 4 year old. I just applied to my school's RN program, which will start in Jan, and should receive my acceptance/rejection letter the middle of November... I had a 4.0 until this past summer term, my grades dropped some, due to hospitilizations from preterm labor, so I'm hoping to God I'll still make it in!!! I, like you, have no clue right now how I'll afford 3 kids in daycare while in school full-time (I'm home w/them all right now) But, we'll make whatever sacrifices we have to for me to get through- it'll be worth it in the long run! Don't be discouraged- everything will work out! :)
