  1. Thanks guys for the positive feedback. I hope that is what I was answering (higher level, harder questions) because if those were the easy ones...that would be impossible to pass. Is it true that select all that apply questions are higher level questions as well?
  2. I do not feel confident at all after taking the NCLEX this morning. The test was so hard and I don't think there is anything in this world that would have helped me get through it. I had 75 questions...and have no confidence that I passed with 75. I just needed to vent...Thanks.
  3. Gentle bump... Just trying to find out how many questions everybody did a day and for how long. Do you think questions alone prepared you?
  4. Sorry! I have no idea how that thumbs down icon got in there! It should have been nothing at all.
  5. Just a quick poll to see how prepared everyone was before taking the NCLEX. 1. How many questions a day did you do? 2. Did you review content or just do questions? 3. How long did you prepare for the NCLEX? 4. Did you feel ready before you went in to take it? Thanks!
  6. What about Children's Hospital of Philadelphia? They are a level IV NICU with a great transport team.
  7. How many did you do before taking the NCLEX? And...did you do any while in school? Did they help you succeed with nursing tests? Thanks for your input! S
  8. Thee-Thee, When did you graduate from Abington? I currently attend their school and will be graduating next year.
  9. Thee-Thee, How did your interview go with Cooper? I have seriously been considering Cooper. Could you also provide the starting grad rn rate? Thanks! Shahana
  10. I was just wondering if there is anybody here that currently works at Cooper and how they like it. I am currently in school and will be graduating next September with my RN. I have been considering Cooper, as well as Philly's big hospitals, and just wanted to find out if Cooper was a good place to work. Also, does anybody know the rate for a new grad? Thanks for the info! S
  11. Hi... I am currently in Abington's evening/weekend program. Just started our 3rd semester - my user name isn't reflective of when I will be graduating...:) Are you in the day or evening program? All I can say is that it's a tough program...especially for people who work full time. However, you learn alot and there are some awesome instructors!
  12. Thanks daytonite for responding... The pain of the abdomen has decreased. The pt does have a liver problem...it just hasn't been dx yet. Bx will be done once anemia - blood clotting issue is resolved. The enlarged liver & spleen is what the pt came in for. I was actually going to use the Impaired Gas Exchange and Fluid Volume Deficit since the pt has a severe decrease in I/O. Since the dx has not been established of the organ, only guesses right now...I'm assuming I'm going with the pt's current response correct? So confused!
  13. I forgot to mention...pt also has decreased I/O.
  14. I am struggling with a priority nursing dx. Maybe someone out there can help me? Or at least let me know if I am on the right page... Pt has hx of asthma, atelectasis, anemia. Presented with abdominal pain which has been controlled (enlarged liver/spleen). Pt is tachycardia, sob, weak/fatigue. I was going to use Impaired Gas Exchange r/t atelectasis and then Activity intolerance r/t anemia. Or...should I be using deficient fluid volume r/t anemia since their is a risk for bleeding? I am so confused. Any help would be great! Thanks S
  15. Thanks for the great info so far! Please...keep the suggestions coming!!
  16. I have been going through all these posts to find what items are the best things to have for nursing school. The posts are all scattered so I thought I would start a post that will contain all the info for the new incoming students. I would like to know what I should spend my money on when it comes to study guides, NCLEX review books, NET review books, best nursing shoes (without a logo), stethescope, misc nursing items you have to have, etc. Any new students/senior students/graduate nurses have any info they can share? What were the items you couldn't live without??? Thanks for your input!
  17. I am giving serious consideration to an anesthesia technician job and would like to know your thoughts about it. I am wondering what the job entails and if you found that exposure to be very helpful later on when the time came for school. I am assuming it would be on some level - exposure to the OR, anesthesia team, etc. Is this type of position along the same lines as a nurse aide or would there be a higher level of care involved? I am not familiar with what this type of tech does so if anybody has been one...please...let me know what your experience has been. Thanks for your feedback, S
  18. Hi, I was just curious which large teaching hospitals in downtown Philly are unionized? How difficult is it for someone to apply and get in? I just finished a certified nurse aide program and have my CNA and CPR cert. I would like to get into one of the big hospitals downtown (TJU, CHOP, UofP). Does anybody have any info on these hospitals? Insight??? Thanks, S
  19. Hey amatallahk, I am also interested in Jefferson's nursing program. I am applying for admission next fall to their ASN program. Do you know if that Mid January decision date is for the accelerated BSN program only or for all the nursing programs next fall? I was down there yesterday and was so excited from just walking around Jefferson's campus!!! I love that school and hospital! Thanks for any info you can give me! S
  20. Hi, I was just wondering if anybody could tell me if any one of the anesthesia schools in the Philadelphia area is considered "better" over the other. Meaning in terms of the overall approach they have with their students, variety of clinical sites, financing, etc. I am currently working on my BSN and have requested information from the following schools: Villanova, St Joes, LaSalle, and Drexel. Is there anybody currently attending these schools or have any insight into them?? I am curious to find out "inside" information. :) Thanks, S

I was just curious...how does one go about becoming an IV tech? I am currently in a nurse aide training course and someone in my class told me that you have to be a certified nurse aide first and then, through continuing education, you can go on to become an IV tech. Does anybody have any info? Thanks! S
  22. You guys are great! Thank you so much for clarifying! I now understand it much better. I think I can do this!
  23. I need help! I am taking my first A&P class and for some reason...I cannot grasp the directional concepts of distal and proximal! Why am I so confused? How is the hip proximal to the ankle? or proximal to the wrist? Can someone please help me understand these 2 terms??? Thanks in advance for your help!
