From Private Practice to Home Health....
Hello Ladies, I needs some advice. I have been a nurse for two years, and have gone from the hospital setting to a private practice. IVF nursing. I find I miss real clinical work and that I have put myself at a disadvantage. I would like to go into home healthcare nursing as I think it would give me an opportunity to become a good practitioner. I dont know that my clinical skills are up to par and you hospital veterans certainly know more than I do. Is this a good idea? Can I have anyones thoughts? Thank you!!

I never imagined...
I feel your pain. I started a job on a peds oncology floor 4 months ago...first job out of nursing school. its been awful. this is all i wanted and i have had no luck. for starters, i had serious issues with administration due to religious observance issues. they have been discriminatory and inappropriate-- everything has made me so nervous. Its a crazy floor to work on and it doesnt help when there are other issues. recently, i have been given the option to transfer to another floor. im looking at antepartum or postpartum because i think they are less acute floors. does anyone have any feedback? I dont want to give up nursing, but this has been a bad, bad start.

75 Questions on NCLEX, pass or fail?
I'm waiting for my test results as I type... I got 96 questions not 75, took the exam on tuesday sept 4th and finished @ 5pm. Apparently they make you wait the FULL 48 hours. Sigh. Guys I need encouragement, this was my second attempt and I keep rationalizing...the first time I had 265 which means I was teeter tottering the whole time. This time i was SOO much more prepared that this HAS to be a good sign right??? uuughh. This waiting periods sucks.
-
2nd attempt how long do you have to wait??????
Hi Ct, I took my nclex yesterday as well. How did you fare ? How many questions? I know waiting is torture,,,but we'll get through this! I had 96 questions and it was the 2nd try for me. The first time I had 265 and failed. I feel good about it, lets see if I'm right.... Hope youre distracting yourself!!!

NCLEX- what if I can't pass? Please! Need Suggestions!!
Analysis and application questions are considered the most difficult. Those are usually the what would you do questions, related to medications, positioning patients, teaching ect. I know its easier said than done...but dont think about it so much. Distract yourself...it'll be over soon! :-)

NCLEX- what if I can't pass? Please! Need Suggestions!!
I agree....putting too much pressure on myself has never worked. When I took the test yesterday I didnt even think what if I fail. I just assumed I'm gonna pass...and I'm keeping that attitude until I find out. Just hope I'm right!

NCLEX- what if I can't pass? Please! Need Suggestions!!
Hi Cutie, Sounds like we have a lot in common. I took the exam yesterday as well so we're both waiting for test results.... I ended with 96 questions- it was the most shocking thing in the world to the computer just shut off. I KNOW I got my first question wrong and I think I got others right. I studied so hard for this thing that it kills me to think I may have failed...I mean, if I failed @ 96 I did REALLY bad. As for your 265, I know tons of people who passed at 265 and I'm really hoping for you its no different. I didnt get chemo drugs on my exam, just as an aside. I did get alot of select all that apply, a few questions on hepatitis which i was surprised about and tons of prioritization questions. Hold on honey we've only got a little while longer till we get our answer!!!!

I passed yayy
I think I'm going to be doing alot of work to distract myself, watch some movies ect. I'm afraid of checking the website.... I got alot of select all that apply, prioritization, and evaluation of teaching. Is this a good thing? I guess I did really good or really bad? Dont worry, I'm breathing- I just dont know if im doing so deeply enough. hehe. I didnt sleep great last night, evded up taking some cough medicine to knowck myself out. Everything went smooth at the test center and stuff though. I didnt feel like the questions were awfully hard...is that bad? sigh. Bless your patience with me Chole! I appreciate it

I passed yayy
Hi There Chloe, I took my exam...it stopped at 95-or 96 questions (i wasnt paying attention to the number)...I really dont know how I did. I'm sure I got number one on the test wrong. I have no idea how I did, I've been studying so hard, I really hope I did ok. I didnt feel awful when I left either, is that a bad sign? Sigh. I'm glad its over, it took me 2.5 hours to answer the questions...I went REALLY slow, but I have no clue. Pray I passed!! :-)

NCLEX- what if I can't pass? Please! Need Suggestions!!
I'm taking the exam tomorrow at 3pm. I'm nervous, but I know I've studied just as hard as I can. I'm still reviewing and will continue the rest of the day (that helps to calm my nerves, though most ppl say dont look at stuff the day before). Hopefully, I'll have good news this week. Thanks for being supportive, I appreciate it :-)

Hi Chole, Just wanted to let you know I took qtrainer #6 and scored @ 68% :-). I excercised RIGHT before sat down and pretended it was the nclex. it worked. today i went to check the exact site of the test (good thing I did, it wasnt as easy to find as they said it would be). I'm staying calm and reviewing...less then two days left till "THE" test. Any words of advice?

I passed yayy
Thank you Chole for being so supportive and helpful. Funny you mentioned excercise....yesterday was the first day in about 2 weeks that I hadnt gone running first thing in the morning. Its amazing how that helps isnt it? after i run I'm calmer, more focused ect. I think more than anything else, I'm worried about properly thinking the q's through...its difficult!! Sigh. I did get into contact with someone from Kaplan and they said that the qbank is supposed to be more difficult then the nclex. i guess I just gotta do the best I can right? I did nothing all day but answer questions....I need to review material though...its just SOO much stuff. Thank G-d for having nice people respond to my posts, otherwise I'd be totally gone by this point! My friends and family are great, but theyve had enough NCLEX. haha. Hope youre doing great!!

Chole, hey I'm having a serious panic attack. My exam is in less than a week and my scores are plummeting. This is what I have so far: Q trainer #1 63% Q trainer #2 66% Q trainer #3 67% Q trainer #4 61% Q trainer #5 57% I scored 62% on the diagnostic and 70% on the readiness test. I've been scoring high 60s/low 70s on qbank. Should I reschedule?!? I'm seriously freaking out. That qtrainer #5 is what did it. dude, i'm SCARED. Thanks for listening (or rather reading).

NCLEX- what if I can't pass? Please! Need Suggestions!!
Thank you honey, I hadnt seen your post till today. Though its only been 10 days since i made my post, im feeling SO much better. My kaplan scores have gotten a heck of alot better. Today I took the readiness test and scored @ 70%. I even scored that high on the qbank. Its really very encouraging. I have one week till the big day and I'm going to review, review, review. A good 12 hours/day if neccesary. This time around, i'm going to do it! I have to prepare myself for the possibility of 265. I hope not to get so many, but if i do-- i can pass, just like you. Ok, thanks for your words, it does help. I hope to post good news soon!

I Passed! I Passed With 245 Questions
Congrats to everyone that passed!! Yes, seeing that someone passed onthe 2nd try is quite helpful, considering I also failed when I took the exam in July. I have been studying my butt off and am taking the test in a little over the week. I need all the encouragement I can get. My kaplan scores are pretty good, but still, untill you see PASS its hard to relax. well, congrats again to all the new RN's out there. I hope to soon join you guys!

Wow Chole! Thats awesome. I have to tell you, I read your post and it made me smile. You see, the first time I took my exam I was in NYC and I took it @9am. I hate rushing in the morning it makes me nervous, so this time, I first scheduled my exam for 11am and then found a 3pm slot for the same day. I switched it to 3pm because I wanted to skip the traffic (I'm in Miami at the moment with family and we have the same awful traffic you mentioned exists in Atlanta). I'm trying to de-stress in anyway possible. The fact that you were able to concentrate after all that is great. I have 15 days left...I'll try to make the most of them :). Did you just take ur exam?
