How Bad Is The Charting???
Home health is highly regulated. Charting can be the pits if the agency doesn't have it streamlined. SOC/ ROC oasis does take longer but after doing it for a while just like anything it'll be a breeze. As far as taking work home, that depends on your working style. Be organized and try to finish your charting before you conclude your visit or at least before you drive off to your next one would be really helpful. If you put off finishing ur charts until the end of the day or worse til the next day... it can get overwhelming. Good luck.

The Best Foundation for Home Health
A strong background in med-surg should be sufficient. Specialty in cardiology or oncology is a plus. Either way, as long as you have good assessment skills and a strong advocate for your pt i.e getting to speak to the md if a problem arises before you leave the pt's home would make your day worthwhile.

PDA's in Home Health
I got the palm TX. Based it on the reviews from this forum (it's how I found this site) and it was also editor's pick at cnet. Seems like most of the med, nsg and pharm students in my area use it too. So far, am loving it like the poster above. Thanks for those leads crux1024.

Suspect HH patient is using marijuana!
if agency wants to make an issue, can always prove it thru tox screen for THC or tetrahydrocannibinol, the active ingredient of marijuana. be aware of your surroundings and avoid compromising situations that would only not put you at risk but also the agency you represent.

PDA's in Home Health
Hi guys. I'm looking into getting a palm tx pda to download all those drug books, merck manual, all those medical software at skyscape and also to help me in managing my case load as I will be returning to home health next month after a 17 month lapse into inpt hospice nursing. Calendar, contact list and alerts will definitely be of daily use. Anyone out there who's got one? Any tips? Pros and Cons? I'm tech savvy tho not hacker level and comfortable with gadgets. Anyway, appreciate any thoughts on this. Thanks.

Hospital based agency
When I used to work for hospital based agency, we had continuing care coordinators who does those things. Since you're the only provider in that area, dunno why it would be an issue.
