  1. Thank you both for your comments, they are extremely helpful!
  2. Hello all! I have volunteered to present the importance of accurately recording intake and output at our CNA skills fair. To my dismay, I am having a difficult time coming up with a new and exciting way to present this topic. Wondering if anyone has any input. Thanks in advance!
  3. Hurst review was awesome! Did you try the Person Vue trick? Please let us know when your results are up!
  4. The nursing staff at our facility has decided to put a basket together to give to families of patients who are actively dying. The basket would included a folder with information about the dying process and what they can expect. We thought that it would be a good idea to include some mints, lotion, a pad of paper and a pen (so that they can write down questions that they may have). Just thought that I would solicit the group for any ideas! Thanks :)
  5. You are correct. How about glueteal cleft???
  6. Could you use glueteal fold? Just wondering!
  7. Just wondering if there is anything that you have ever "creatively charted"? I had a pt awhile ago who had a SBO and had a projectile emesis. My charting went something like this... Pt had approx 500cc brown emesis, 200cc of which was collected in the emesis bag and the rest was distributed throughout the room". My coworker heard me chuckle as I was charting... I had to share!
  8. Hello Nurse friends!! I was fortunate enough to be sent to a Nurse Residency Program through the hospital at which I am currently employed. It was there that I learned that other facilities had programs in place that provided pts and their families education, materials and support to help them through the end of life process, grieving and to how to help themselves heal. I have expressed my interest starting such a program, administration thinks that it would be a great idea and would like to hear more about what I have in mind. I was just wondering if anyone out there has had any experience in implementing a Palliative Care Program within their hospital. I am seeking any advice, websites, books or suggestions that have worked for you. I would love to hear from you! Thanks in advance for your input!!!
  9. Right now the two that we have been looking at are Alaris and the Sigma....What is your opinion? Do you currently use one that you absolutely love? If you use the pumps named above can you give some input about how well (or poor) they work?? Thanks in advance for your advice! Shirlee
  10. A colleague and I are interested in starting a new program regarding palliative care at our facility. Just wondering if anyone has any great ideas or resources to offer??? Thanks in advance for your advice!!! Shirlee
  11. Just a quick note to express a sincere "thank you" to all of you who said a prayer for me. I found out yesterday that I passed my NCLEX RN! I am extremely thrilled and relieved. Thanks for the support that I received through this site it was one of the key factors that helped me to survive the "NCLEX experience". Good luck you everyone as you continue on your journey....
  12. Hey just wanted to post a quick reply to verify that the trick does indeed work. I was convinced that they were going to find out about it and change it before I could use it!!! I took my NCLEX yesterday at 0800 and tried the PVT when I got home (got pulled over about 7 miles away from home for speeding... but no ticket!!). I was so anxious to get home and try the trick! I have been checking the pearson vue site, but it says that my results are not available. I have placed numerous calls to the quick results service, but there again it states that my results are still not available. My results are in on the BON before the quick results!!! Who would have known? Just thought that I would give testimony to the fact that it works... Thanks to all who said a prayer for me, it really helped get me through!!!PTL:yeah:
  13. I will give that a whirl... thanks a lot!!!
  14. I was just wondering if anyone out there has any tricks for memorizing lab values. I am studying for the NCLEX and having a hard time making these numbers stick!!! Thanks in advance for your help:wink2:
  15. Just dropping in to request a prayer be sent my way... I am taking the NCLEX on Tuesday, Aug 18 at 0800. I don't think that you will surprised to hear that I am getting a little apprehensive as the date approaches. I have been doing a lot of studying, so sick of looking at my NCLEX books... but also afraid not to look at them! My scores have been all over the place - sometimes I do well sometimes, well not so much. I realize it is all out of my control, if I could get someone to lift me up in prayer - that would be awesome!!!
