Hi all, I have been reading this forum for a while...and wanted to officially join. I have been a LPN for 23 years and have been going back to school that long. In fact, when I started, at the local community college, in VA, they were using the quar...
Just to add my two cents....I am stll at my offie after almost 10 years and each day brings something crazy and new! I do know one thing..........after 10 years, the doc I work for eats horribly! :angryfire
you could try it. Bottom line most schools like it before hand. I have not taken it yet, but my daughter is, and it's A LOT! The school we are in (yes I said we) is very tough in that dept.
Hi, I too want to get my FNP. But for now I am still getting my ADN. (have been an LPN for 23 years.) Look, bottom line, there is no rule that says all new grads have to work nights. Also I will tell you IF the docs. at the office are worth a hoot, y...
:monkeydance:I have been going back to school a little at a time. So long, that they are telling me I have lost some of my credits because of lenth of time, etc. Has this ever happened to anyone else? If so, did you get them back and how did you do i...
So now I am doing a little shopping and such. It seems as though Jtcc has a every other weekend (Fri, SAt and Sun) class set up. Is this staight instruction? Is it with the Commonwealth on line program? Anyone, please let me know. Also would love to h...

I so agree with TeleRNer. Years ago we hung a wreath on the door, stopped our clocks, covered mirrors and wore black for a solid year. There may have been something to that. Today I see people working the day their loved one died. I know, everyone...
A few posts back someone pointed out the fact that we all have bias in our professions. I can give you the opposite of the abortion issue. I know a couple who are having their 11th child. Dad works all the time, mom stays home and "homeschools". Cons...
This is not meant to be anything but what it is; a real question. Maybe a philosophical one at that. Why do I see so many posts with students having NO idea if they passed the NCLEX? Yes, I am just starting my bridge program, yes, it's been a LONG...
UMMMM, I have to agree. Choice or not. I would not call myself safely conscious if I hardly ever wore a seatbelt. It's the same thing I see all the time in the summer......really daily: adults riding kids on lawnmowers. OMG!!!! I have seen two ...
Yea, my hubby and I are friends with another married couple. They are funeral directors, and embalmers. Point being, when ever we go out with them and we see someone on a motorcycle, helmet or NOT, they say "there goes an organ donor. " They see it...
But again, it's about choice. Suppose you don't want to work in LTC? Should you have to get your RN to go into peds or OB? I think it is JACOHA, and politics in general.

PVCC-Piedmont Virginia Community College- is in Charlottesville, Va. Almost exactly in central Va. I guess I got in a huff, because they would not give me credit for some of the classes that I have been taking on and off since, 1982. As they say, lif...
I know I am beating a dead horse here, but it just seems wrong. I wonder if all professions are like that? Is passing the bar the same, in terms of schooling, being testing on your knowledge etc? It's a little bit, actually a lot overwhelming to think...
I hear you sister! It happened here in Virginia. Back when I became an LPN (23 years ago) UVA had LPNs on every floor. ALL floors, L&D, NICU etc. I was hired to work "little peds" 0-6 year olds which I loved. The PICU was litterally right ...
Do you suggest a web site for CLEP info? BTY, did I mention that I fell and broke my fifth metarsal, left foot, and right patella? Right now the computer is my lifelline.
I thought this might help to answer my other post since I don't have a response yet. It would help me to know how far others have driven in time and or distance to school. Thanks in advance.

The main difference that I have found is that some programs require a microbiology class and some don't. Sometimes, also a one credit class here and there. Some will make CPR a credit class, etc. I really need to get out of my own way so to speak and...

:idea:I live in central Va so JTCC is about an hour one way where as Petersburg is just too far. I would like something that would take what credits I have and be student friendly, and I could attend part time. Am I asking too much?!
