  1. I used Mosby's Pharmacology Memory Notecards: Visual, Mnemonic, and Memory Aids for Nurses written by Zerwekh, Claborn, Gaglione, and Miller. It really helped me a lot! good luck to you!:balloons:
  2. On Oct 1th I got my first job as nurse in a Community Health center in Boston. I was excited, but my excitment did not last long, 3 wks later (Oct 22th) I got fired because according to them I did not have any basic skills on nursing. The pediatric clinic new I was a new grad, but they took me any way. I was crushed and I was feeling like a failure! The next day I went looking for a new Job, printed out my resume, and out I went. Everyday since that awful dayI went to a nursing home, and filled out application, gave my resume. Nov 6th I started my new job in a nursing home. I was so scared that I would go through the same thing I went through my first job, but now I realized that the problem wasn't me but the simple fact that they did not take the time to train me and expected me to know everything. The last 2 weeks I,ve learned so much and I am so happy to have found a place that are new grad friendly. Please share your experience!!!:balloons:
  3. I feel the same way I am working in a community health center in a pediatrics unit. My preceptor stands behind me, she called me a student last week, and I can't seem to be able to take the apical pulse or any vital signs correctly she does not let me breath. I feel stupid and Friday my supervisor told me that I have no basic nursing skills (which I do have skills and I know how to take vital signs) Monday morning I am going to talk with her that I don't want to be trained by that preceptor because she is defaming of my charactor and she is intimidating me (which is a violation of the non-harrassement policy) I hope everything is going to go well and mean while I am going to start looking for another Job.:balloons::monkeydance:
  4. I graduated in May and Just started working in a community health center in a pediatric unit. I am not shore at this point if I really want to become a pediatric nurse in a community health center. I been having a hard time keeping track of a newborn or an infant apical pulse. Nurse that I work with are from old school of nursing, the nurse that is trainning I think she hates me and told my supervisor that I don't know how to take vital signs (which I do), They knew I new grad and that they would have to train me. That is my story! Thanks for reading!
  5. I am from Brazil as well, I was born in sao Paulo, but lived in Jaboticabal I took my NClex in August and passed, but it was a very difficult test. I hope you pass the test. What is cgfns? Is the same thing as the NClex?:balloons:
  6. On Monday I started my first nursing job (pediatrics unit), I am little confused because the nurse I that is training me has been working in that community health center for 30 years. She does not let me do anything on my own. Everytime we have a patient she stands behind me and tells me what to do with the computer. Thursday and Friday we practiced on vital signs which I feel she testing me. While taking the apical pulse I was of 2 beats off and she said something to me. She does not let me give shots and she only let me prepare the vaccines. Monday she is going to quiz me on the vaccine chart and ages and when they should get it. I feel that she thinks I don't know anything. What do you thinK?
  7. I would use layers, with the air conditioner it can get very cold. I went with a shirt, jeans and light sweater that can take it off if you get hot.
  8. luv2shop85, Make sure you rest and do something that can relax you the day before your exam! I think stress can interfere how you perform on the NCLEX. I was told by my professor that 24 hours before your exam you should not study anymore. I know it is very hard not to look at the material, but it can help you to relax and forget about nursing.
  9. You probably know your material really well! I felt the same and wished I could take it early. What day is your exam?
  10. as long You keep getting a 65 and review the wrong question and study what you think you are weak on is all you can do! Make sure you relax before the exam! keep me posted!
  11. ADN mean associated degree in Nursing is We are Registered Nurses, we take the same NCLEX as nurse with a BSN!
  12. congratulations:balloons::yelclap::cheers:
  13. I also graduated in June 2007 from RCC!
  14. stop getting nervous and relax, take deep breath, meditate if u need to. I firmly believe that stress and being nervous like that can influence your performance during the test! u did all could go to the movie and watch a funny movie!
  15. i'm so addicted to this, this like therapeutic comunication for me, when I waited from my nclex exam!
  16. You should take Kaplan than within the month take the NCLEX! But I think before Kaplan you should review using saunders with a CD-ROM. When you feel that you know the content O.K. then take Kaplan! For Kaplan you need to the content and they teach you strageties for taking the NCLEX. Are fluent in English? I degree acquired in U.S. or abroad?
  17. I just graduate from nursing schools and passed the NCLEX. I want to be a peds nurse, but I know I have a long way to go. I currently have ADN in nursing and I know it will be difficult to get a job as pediatric nurse with only an ADN! In 2 years will go back to school and get my BSN and hopefull be a nurse practioner one day!
  18. oops! I posted on the wrong board!
  19. I think a person know that they are ready when you can't wait for the test day to comes up! My test date was July 31(Tuesday), After July 25th I could barrely bring myself to study. I did not know what else to study.
  20. Take kaplan is the best!
  21. congratulations!:balloons::monkeydance:
  22. I want to know how many people that uses the NCLEX discussion forum are actually from Massachusetts? I live in Revere, MA
  23. I hope you pass! Keep me posted
  24. You should do something fun tomorrow before you big day! Try not study if you can tomorrow. I now is a very hard thing to do. I allowed myself 1 hour the day before the exam to review the material. Go to a waterpark, go get your self a massage(which I had). Like my roommate said to me a week ago when I was having a meltdown, "tomorrow will do everything to make yourself calm, if stresses you out DON'T DO IT!" remember your BRAIN has to REST as well!!! Let me know how your day GOES tomorrow? BE CONFIDENT YOU CAN DO IT!
  25. He recovered from traumatic experience with NCLEX! Now he has to get used to the sound of my new sneakers! poor thing!
