FNP or WHNP?
When I receieved an alert in my e-mail that some had responded to this thread, it was fun for me to look back. I did finish my master's with a WHNP program in 2010 and have been licensed since October 2010 & practicing. I've had two different jobs since, one with a midwifery practice and now a private OBGYN office. If I had to go back and do it all over again, I would have gone for the FNP program do to more opportunity. It was really only by luck that I found my current job. I love women's health, but in my search for NP positions, there were so many more general APN jobs available, at least in my location.

Must know questions before accepting a HH RN Job
Hi Everyone, I'm in the process of applying for a HH job and I was wondering what are a list of "must know" questions before accepting a position. I have never worked HH, but I have worked med-surg for several years. Thanks for your help!

Thank you letter for accepting a job?
Hi Everyone, So I was just offered my first job woo!! The offer was over the telephone and I informed the recruiter that I accepted the position. I am waiting for the actual offer in writing in the mail. Should I send a thank you letter once I receive the offer in the mail? I've heard before that it is proper, but I wasn't sure if people actually did this. If yes, should I send it to both the nurse recruiter and the manager? or just the nurse recruiteR? Thanks for your input!

Should I still follow up with other institutions?
Hi Everyone, I recently had an interview at a hospital that I know I want to work out. I'm not sure if I should wait on the decision from that hospital or follow up and pursue other interviews? Is it improper to cancel other interviews if I am offered a position? Thanks!

Is being a student a disadvantage when getting a job?
I have an interview next week for a gn position and I will be starting grad school part time in the fall. I'm nervous about telling the employer that I will be starting classes and that I will not be able to work probably two days out of the week. The job is in a related field of my MSN program and the hospital and school are affiliated. I feel bad that I'm coming into the interview already with limitations of when I can work in several months. Do you think this hurts my chance of getting the job? Any advice on how to approach the situation? Thanks for your input!

Clinical experience on a resume....
What are the necessary elements to include on a resume when describing clinical experience? I've been told to only include the rotation, location, and time frame of the clinical, but I've also been told to additionally include a brief description of the job that you performed while in that clinical. I have been including a brief description for each clinical, but after 5 clinicals my resume is beginning to looked cluttered and I still have this year of clinicals to go.... Any tips? Thank you!! Katie

Do you think I have a shot of getting in!?
Thanks for the reply! I have considered going to grad school part-time and working as an RN, it's just a tough situation because the town that I plan on living in after graduating with my BSN is very small & the closest university to get my MSN is about 2 hours away. I'd prefer to go right away so hopefully I can complete it within two years then move back home and get settled. I'm also applying to the online Drexel program which I would think would give me more time to work as I go for my masters.. any advice about online programs?

FNP or WHNP?
I'm applying to grad school this fall, but I'm stuck between applying to a FNP program or a WHNP program. I live in PA, does anyone know how I can find information about what field of NP has a larger job market?

What's a good pharmacology review for the NCLEX?
I'm starting to prepare for my NCLEX that I'll be taking this upcomig summer. So far I've purchased the Kaplan, Mosby, Lippincott books & the Mosby review cards. I'm looking for a good pharamacology review book or review cards. Any opinions?
