  1. It is the same way in SC. I spoke with a National Gaurd Rec yesterday who told me there are no nursing positions open and he already has a long waiting list. He told me to go and speak with the Army Reserves (which I had already done) and I plan on going that route. BTW I have heard a lot of not so good things about some recruiters but my Army Reserve recruiter was awsome!
  2. :up:Thanks so much for posting this! Can't wait to hear from you next week!
  3. Thanks for the advice! I am also working on my pt goals for officer school. I still have a long time to go so I have plenty of time to work on it but I want to do as good as I can when the time comes. I will def check out the website as my weakness is push ups. I have a long long way to go till I hit the min allowed mark! Anyway thanks for the info!
  4. bvfd 333 i am in this process also. i will graduate from an adn program in may 2010 and was told now to start the process with the reserves (the only one who will take me now) however, i can not get a hold of any recruiters willing to help. the nursing recruiting number rings but no one has ever answered and no machine picks up. can i call another state?
  5. Our NS is very hard.. You have to study, study, study.. At my school we have been told that some of the prereq's are made difficult to weed out students who are thought to not be able to make it completely through. I have seen lot's of students change their major during nursing pre-req's. I agree with the other posters that talk about like of outside life. Between school and family I really have no time for nothing else. Weekends are spent reading chapters to be ready for lecture on Mondays! It is very difficult but if you keep a positive attitude and stick with other nursing students who are positive you can do it! :monkeydance:
  6. i have heard that call centers and hospitals are the worst places as far as gossiping is concerned. i currently work at a bank's call center to pay for my nursing school and i believe every word of it. like everyone else has mentioned, don't give them anything to talk about and kill them with kindness. it works for most people here. also, it seems like all the little gossiping groups also gossip behind each others own backs and seems they would learn there lesson. hopefully dealing with that same stuff here will prepare me for when i reach the hospial i hope! my advice is to find some really good non-gossiping nurses to befriend.
