Just slow down, take a deep breath, and most of all, don't panic. If you can, go into ERI and do any practice tests that you can do. How many chances do you get? Remember, with every question, think about what could go wrong, and if given an age, gender or anything to do with history of patient or family, don't disregard this piece of information. It plays a factor in which answer you pick. But always think worst case scenerio with questions. And read the question very careful, they like to trip you up with the little words that shouldn't really mean anything, but they always do. But the main thing that I did before my ERI exit exam was to pray, and whatever you do, don't forget to breath!!!! You will do great. You didn't get this far without learning enough to make it the rest of the way. God don't bring you to it, if He isn't going to bring you through it!!!! Good Luck!!!!!

Thanks for this chance to vent. I too am a new nurse, I graduated in May, passed boards in June, worked on the Ortho floor, blew out a disk in my neck, had to have surgery, was out of work 3 1/2 months. So, now I feel like a new nurse all over again. I mean, sometimes I look at the patients labs and I don't even know what I'm looking at. I give out my meds, and I don't even know what most of them are for, or how to tell if my patients are having an adverse reaction. I have from 6-8 patients a night, on my own. And heaven help you if you ask a question, because I'm always told, "You should know how to do that, you did pass boards, right". If I knew this is what it was going to be like, I just don't think I would have become a nurse, even though it was a life long dream.

I only meant that you can over study for a particular test, and yes I agree that everything builds on something. And I have never just study what I thought would be on a particular test, I always study all the material, so I just assumed that everyone else did as well. And yes, every semester has been harder than the last, only if you allow everything you have taken away from all the other semesters to carry over into the last semester. You need to be able to apply what you have learned and you can't do that by memorization. Instead of just memorizing lab values or right sided or left sided heart failure, you have to be able to see the effects of the condition in your mind and understand why this is happening to be able to know the proper steps you need to take to try to correct the problem. I study everyday and still have days where I feel like I don't know anything. And getting together in small study groups also helped me, this way everyone can give a different perspective on the subject and maybe if you don't understand something, someone may explain it in a way that makes it stick with you. I'm sorry if I offended anyone, but I'm not interested in joining those ranks either. shir-bur

Yes, I think you can overstudy. I will graduate May 1, ADN, and I feel that I have struggled most of the time, but this semester, I feel somewhat at ease. Just slow down and take your time. And a group of us always go out into the hall before every test and pray. It helps calm the nerves and for me it also clears my mind. So just hang in there, God didn't get you into the program for you to fail out or quit now. Just remember to breath. And going into your final with an 80 something is great. You can do this, I just had to keep telling myself, how bad do I want it? And I'm sure you really want this, besides, you got into the program so you can do this. I'll be praying for you, and keep your head up, your doing great!!!!!!! shir-bur :wink2:

I have to write a paper on the role of the RN in Home Health. Can someone give me any good websites to use, all I have found is just a spill to come to work for a specific company. I need to know the specifics of what an RN does in this type of setting and the variances of the role. I would appreciate any help that I can get. This is my last semester, I will graduate the 1st of May, Praise God!!!!!!!! That is if I can pass our exit exam that they threw on us last semester. But that's neither here nor there, right now I'm just trying to get through my last semester. And let me just say thank's to everyone that uses this site, I think that it is awesome!!!!! shir-bur

But thanks for all your help!!!! I really think that this is a great place to come to for help. I have told all of my friends that are in the nursing program with me that they need to come and register here, because when I have a problem with something that I don't understand very well, I know I can get help here. Most of the time, if I go to one of my instructors for help, they quote me their famous saying, "We are not here to spoon feed you," so needless to say, I don't get a whole lot of help from them, so let me just say once again, thanks so much for all the help!!!! :thankya: shir-bur

I think this semester we will have rotations on the psych ward, which should be very interesting.

I had OB, Peds and Med/Surg my second semester, I not sure what the other class you have is. I got to go in and watch a C-section, help a girl with natural childbirth, and in med surg 1 I got to go into the OR, EGD lab, and do a rotation in the ER. I'm hoping that we will get to do alot more this semester. I only have one class/clinicals this semester. This is my 3rd med/surg class, so I hope we get to see some cool stuff. I am so excited, I made it thru another semester!!!!!! Had my big endo test on tuesday, 8/1, and my final today 8/2/. So now I officially like just 2 semesters till I graduate. Only By the grace of God!!!! :monkeydance:shir-bur

I'm having a hard time understanding the endocrine system. I have a major test next wednesday on eyes, ears and endocrine and a comprehensive final on thursday.
