  1. totally dangerous.not a good habit to get into. starts with normal saline, but once in the habit you could find yourself in big trouble if something more serious is ordered and done in that manner....we all know if there is a bad outcome who would get the blame and the doctor can always deny giving the order at all. answer....get the chart and place it infront of the doctor.
  2. i cannot tell you how many times, as an er nurse, i have had people say, "i am a nurse" and when i question them more it comes out they are cnas or some thing like that. it makes me furious inside, but we end up laughing because they think they know so much when they really know so little. and i hate the internet...too much false information out there that these " nurses" have access to.
  3. spelling can be very important, but like a co-worker of mine pointed out..if i wanted to spell evrything right i would have been an english major not a nurse.
  4. i am looking into getting roux-en-y done. just had the little inservice on what needs to be done to be eligible. and i too have tried and tried to lose. now i also have arthritis in knees, and borderline diabeties as well as hypertension. all can be helped with surgery. the surgeon i want to do mine has had very few bad outcomes as well, and he did my laproscopic gallbladder and i was back to work in 3 days. research what is required and the surgeons too.

Your experience with pediatric pts should come in handy in an ER. And the nurse...Annalee is right ...we like to "Treat em and street em".
