PhD/DNP in Nursing.... what incentives does the State and Federal Gov offer?
Does the HRSA grant for NFLP also require 4 years of a commitment? I mean if you get one years tuition paid, do they still require that you work for 4 years. I went on their website, they don't list this detail. thanks in advance for your reply.

PMHNP Exam
HI gilsam, I been studying on and off since may, but i keep putting this off. I wanted to ask you something that someone had mentioned. is it true that there a lot of primary care questions that are not psych related on this exam? I have been wondering if I should purchase exams that are from primary care to review the parts that are relevant to our exam? This may be just a crazy idea, but I really want to pass the first time I take it. Also if you dont mind me asking what were you getting on the sample ANCC exams before you sat for the exam? I appreciate any advice/information you can give me. Best, Sofia

Yale RN-MSN Fall 2013
hello everyone, I wanted to hear from someone in the psych program at YSN, I decided to go with Stony Brook because their program is online, and I could not move to CT. I wanted to know how the clinical experience is for ysn students. I am in the process of finding a placement and thought may be I could do my clinical portion with ysn affiliated hospitals? any feed back would be appreciated.

Is anyone attending Suffolk Community College
hello Russl i feel your pain, I was there last year!!!. as far as the gpa cut off I did not have all A's in my pre-reqs more like B+'s my situation was different since I had a bachelor from stony brook and a solid science background,,I had chem I, and II, physics I, II, bio I and II , calculus I and II statics, which are the core of the science, there is more i just don't remember right now, but to make a long story short,, I got in not b/c of the pre-req only but over all application. if you read on their web site they even state that ppl with a prev degree are measured differently. as far as hearing from them, their later was dated june 4th,,I was just annoyed b/c their dead line was like dec 31st and that to me was a long wait. not sure of their reason for that was handled. so the only reason I was wait listed was b/c i did not have all the A's in the 4 pre-reqs. hope this helps. again keep your fingers crossed. kamryn

congratulations on getting on the waiting list, that is really good news. as far as all your questions, there really is no way to know about those,,, the pool of applicant varies every year and they are very tight lipped about what your chances are. keep praying and don't give up. Kamryn

thanks russl66, i am not sure of your circumstances as to tell you which is a better option, but as for me, I am older and have had my college degree from stony brook already in pscyh, i thought that it did not matter for me to get a associate vs bachelor, but when it comes down to it, eventually you would want your bachelor or higher. MY grades were average in the pre-reqs I had A in psych, B in english, B in anatomy I and B+ in anatomy II, but suffolk and sb both put me on a waiting list,,, which was strange, b/c they are both so different, and the sb requirement in some ways is stricter, but in some ways are suffulk requirements were strict, anyway, they are both different, sb wants a lot of things, suffolk just wants the best grades in 4 pre-reqs. sb wants overall good applicant,,they are not stuck on the As in the pre-reqs. they want good letters of recommendation, good personal statement, VOLUNTEER WORK, preferably in more then one place,,,,hmm what else,,,oh and grades are also impt, they too like it if all your pre-reqs are DONE you have grades for them, hmm,, and the reality of it these days is that more and more hospitals want bachelor level nurses, the market really is bad right now for associate level, at this time, but this can change by time you and I graduate. I have just finished my first semester at stony brook and will start my second jan 25th,,its a great program, and I dont regret making the choice,,,, but again, I always recommend informations sessions, and stony brook has them every month, we also have a very active pre-nursing society who are very eager to help perspective students, so please head on over to stony brook, get to know the people, join an info session and join the pre-nursing society,,and it will not be a waste of time, I promise. good luck- Is anyone attending Suffolk Community College
All I have to say is take a deep breath and be patient!!!, sometimes they put people on a waiting list which means they wait even longer and you will NOT know when they will get to your application, trust me making yourself crazy is not worth it!!, I went through this last year with suffolk and stony brook, and i regret that was worrying for something that I had no control over. so take it from me, keep yourself busy, have another plan in case you don't get in and do your best in micro, and keep going, don't give up, the beauty of suffolk is they have so many programs and you can keep applying every semester. good luck!!!- Is anyone attending Suffolk Community College
yes from what they told me they only look at the gpa for your 4 pre-reqs, anatomy I and II and english 101, intro to psych. they also like to see you have already completed micro and have a grade, people who have the grade for micro are given prefrence over those who don't. but do to an info session or make an appt with an advisor, b/c things are always changing and you need to know the most up to date info, I applied this past september and got in, but declined it cause i got accepted to Stony brook.- Is anyone attending Suffolk Community College
they will NOT give reason, but they will give you suggestions/recommendation to make your application strong, and if you get a nice person on the phone, they may tell you what the gpa cut off for that semester was.- Is anyone attending Suffolk Community College
if you have the time to take classes over, its always a good idea to try and get an A, from what I understand in the recent years they have been taking ppl with A's but with that said, Even they (advisement office) does not know what YOU would be up against what type of pool of applicant they get at the time one applies, its unpredictable!!! so,,,to raise your chances you always want to have the best grades in their 4 pre-req classes.- Stony Brook vs. Molloy Programs
well the experience is amazing, the professors are great and the fact they are part of a huge health care system and the hospital is a huge plus. as far as getting in, there is no secret, they have information sessions once a month I highly recommend you go to one. also may be trying to becoming the pre-nursing society at stony brook helps. you want to stand out as an applicant, volunteer work is impt even thought not required. good letters of recommendation, impt and a good personal statement is a must. and if they put you on a waiting list, be happy,,,cause I was upset that they did that, but they get last minute funding and they will accept ppl, the last minute. hope this helps,- Stony Brook vs. Molloy Programs
Hello Tee can you elaborate on your comment about molloy grads having a guarantee job placement vs stony brook grads. so far I have been told the opposite, I am currently attending the stony brook nursing program and I know their program was extremely competitive as far as getting in then molloy,, molloy only wanted pre-reqs and a 3.0 gpa and stony brook, well its a very long list of things they look for. so not sure how that plays out once one graduates, being that people have to do a lot more to get into one over the other? - Is anyone attending Suffolk Community College
