Hey Kare, I'm sorry I didn't get back to you, I'm moving so it is kinda crazy here. I do not have my schedule yet, but will get back to you as soon as I do. Any word from school? Jess

    acid-base status question:

That is compensated resp acidosis. If you can find an article call Making ABGs as easy as ABC or Making ABGs childs play. I can not remember the exact name, but it gives a really good break down. It teaches you the tic-tac-toe method. Once you get it. it will all be so much clearer. The PH is on the acid side with the PcO2 and Hco3 is alk because it is compensating. I hope that helps. Jess

    Questions about the Nclex exam

I just took it 6/2/07, and it was not that bad. I would say do as many practice questions you can. I took two review courses before, an on line one and the Don Anderson class ( in MA, don't know where you are). If you see when doing the questions you are having a hard time with ine area, review the content for that area. Good luck.

    Helphelp!!!!

I do not know about CT schools. In MA your best bet is to go to a private school. All the state schools wait list. Private schools are more $$, but the way I look at it time is $$. If you have you pre-reqs done it will be easier to get in. Good luck, and thank your husband for fighting for us, I will pray for him and his men. Jess

Who got hired quickly after grad?

I got a job within a few weeks. I took my boards 1 week after graduation though. I know a lot of my friends are still waiting to take their boards, but have jobs on hold. GET YOUR RESUME OUT NOW, if you have not already done so. There are a lot of new grads right now, so you need to be aggressive. Good luck. jess

We should make it a point. I do not know what shifts I'll be working during training, but after that it will be 715pm-715am. When do you work? Jess

Hi Kare, I had it on Monday, and I think it went well. Just waiting to hear. It was on the second floor, the pcu (telemetry). It is killing me to wait too. I hope we both hear this week! Jess:balloons:

    Any Lawrence Mem./Regis Graduates?

WackyJ- Yes you can work. I worked 60 hrs per week and could still do it. It is a lot of work though. Take Joan B's test taking skills, She helped me so much. Try to be as organized as possible and you will be fine. Jess

Thank you Kare- I lived in the north shore my whole life, then I met this guy and married him. So long story short, I have only lived around here for 8 mths and know no one. Do you like working at St Luke's? Any pros and cons you want to send my way? Are you in nursing school now? Where? Well thanks for your post. Jess

    Any Lawrence Mem./Regis Graduates?

That is so great Wackyj, Are you in days or evening weekend? I was in the evening weekends, the day program is a little different. I was also a lab aide at the nursing arts lab, where you will be spending a bit of time. I think it is great that you are working at Lahey as a CNA!! That will help you soooo much in 101. I am so excited for you. If you are having any trouble with anything, just let me know and I would be happy to help! I was a medical assistant for 10 yrs before this, but 101 is pretty much all of that. Yay for you!

Hi I'm new to this area and also a new grad nurse. I have an interview at St Luke's on Monday. I drove there today to check it out, and it looks like a really nice hospital. All the research I've done looks like it is on the cuting edge with tech. I have worked at the Brigham and Women's Hospital for 10yrs as a medical assistant and a practice manager, and look forward to seeing how other hospitals work. Does anyone know if they are union? Thanks!!! Jess:spin:

    Any Lawrence Mem./Regis Graduates?

Hello. I just graduated in May. It is difficult to get in, so if you are even considering it, get your application in. They do not wait list, and only except 75 students per semester. It was a hard road, but well worth it. I just passed my boards last week and I owe it to them for preparing me so well. Good luck with whatever you choose. I will check in if you have any questions I can help you with. :balloons:
