  1. Im on the list at newport, well was. I start the program in Jan. VERY NERVOUS!!! i was on for a year and a half.
  2. I need a little advising please. I will make a long story short. I have put 4 years into pre reqs for nursing, all i have left is the program itself. I will be getting accepted in January and in two years I will complete the Associates for RN. Here is my dilemma, I have a bad back, but this all happened in the course of 4 years. Currently I am a CNA and it is hard on me. I am getting advised by my Dr to find a light duty position for now, but there are no guarantees I will be able to handle being an RN either. If you are a Nurse, you probably know that I have completed my anatomy, Phys, Psychs and math and english by now. Can you please help and tell me if I have any other career options from here without throwing away 4 past years with those classes in my background? Or Is there a RN position in the future I could find, that wont be so hard on my back? Thanks so much, I appreciate all the advice!!

does anyone have any input in Bayada? if you have heard of it, of course. I am a FT CNA and was looking into working a few extra hours a week doing home care.
  4. I start my new job on Aug 29th at a local Nursing home as a CNA. This is my first CNA job, I didnt apply to any hospitals for whatever reason. This nurisng home is going to give me a free ride through nursing school as long as I contract for 2 years after i receive my degree. Which means I will be stuck at this nursing home for about 4-5 years. My concern is, should I have applied to hospitals and see what they would have offered me? Or am I just being afraid for no reason?
  5. :balloons:i passed!! im officially licensed!! what a great feeling, a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders!! i was freaking out previously for good reason! i knew i was gonna get peri-care! along with that, i had weight, feeding, teds, and of course washing hands. the examiners were a lot more casual and lenient than i thought they were going to be! good luck to everyone else who are taking there states! and congrats to all those who have passed!
  6. I have my licensure tests coming up and Im, of course, a nervous wreck!!!! Im worried about the "small" stuff that could fail me. I know it varies by state, but no one is ever on the RI page. SO i would appreciate any help you can give me. I was told they provide us with everything we should need for the specific skill. if i am only given 1 wash cloth - the correct way to rinse after washing with it is?? I think it is just rinsing out the wash cloth making sure you dont use the same part of it to rinse? When you have your dirty linens, more specifically, when you are making an occupied bed, if there is no basket close by...what do you do with the dirty linen??? I was told we will have a basket near by to put them in as we are working. However, if not, can i roll them up so the top is rolled in and the bottom was on the outside and place them on the "clean bed" These are just some questions that no matter how many times we asked in class, nothing was ever answered for a speific case. Thanks a bunch!
  7. hey im also going for my RN eventually. unfortuantely in RI there is a waiting list for the program. Anyway, I start at a nursing home/hospice in Sept and they are going to pay my FULL tuition for the RN program as long as i contract for 2 years. Look for nursing homes/asst living that are part of an organization. I know Horizon Bay is located around the country, they offer help as well
  8. Im in Rhode Island, i just got a job in a nursing home making 9.25 an hour FT with fabulous bennies! You get raises frequently i find. they are going to pay my full tuition for my RN associates, i just have to contract with them for 2 yrs. big deal. I will be getting health and dental for about 17 dollars a week! and the best part for me is that its only 3 and 1/2 miles from my home! doesnt get any better than that. I hope he goes through with it. its a tough job but very rewarding (i know its sounds cliche). Good luck!
  9. Hi everyone, Im new to the website, and just been poking around. Saw this post and had to reply! I just finished my CNA course and let me tell you, WHAT AN EXPERIENCE! Ok first i was very overwhelmed and was sick a lot, lol. My instructors kept saying its so rewarding yada yada. I knew it would a great field and very special but I felt rewarding was a cliche. Well I just finsished my clinical and I laugh now, because it is Very REWARDING! It is very difficult at times, but its reat when you see you make a difference in a patients life! I hope you enjoy it, and if you have any questions, you can try and track me down. -Jen[MOUSE][/MOUSE]
