  1. Sometime in September, I think? Before the deadline (October 1?) for spring admission.
  2. I don't think you HAVE to attach the CAS form, it's just there preprinted in case you want to. I didn't use the form and just filled out online requests through my schools and listed the nursing CAS address and my CAS number on the online school-specific request. I feel your pain - I had five different transcripts to send! :)
  3. Check with the schools where you did your undergrad. Several of mine had the option for ordering and paying for transcripts online. I think transcripts must be mailed in order to be considered "official" so unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a way to speed up that process. Good luck.
  4. Here's the group - I titled it "University of South Alabama MSN" but I don't mind if any DNP students want to join as well :) I was going to post a link to the page, but I am afraid that might be against the TOS here? Anyone know? Anyway, if you search for that name you should be able to find it... or I can PM a link to anyone interested.
  5. My husband took 4 classes (14 hours including a&p AND micro) this semester and works full time. Back when I was doing pre-Reqs, the most I ever took was around 14-16 hours while working full time plus two kids. That was all I could handle! :)
  6. I am thinking about starting a Facebook group for those of us on there to "network" about the upcoming semester. If anyone is interested, just let me know.
  7. Weird! Because I got y'all's PMs! :) I'll be in the ACNP program and would love to correspond with anyone starting in the spring, no matter the specialty "track". Thanks for that advice, Rachel!
  8. I'll be starting the ACNP program in the spring and would be happy to keep in touch with anyone starting their grad school journey as well! :)
  9. Yes! I was accepted to the AG-ACNP program. I'm a little excited and a lot nervous! :)
  10. My letter came today! Hoping a everyone else waiting gets theirs soon as well!
  11. I don't know of any online way to check the status of an application. I emailed to ask about letters being sent, but so far haven't received a response.
  12. When I asked, I was told that letters would not be sent out "until the end of the month."
  13. I live in Mississippi and have applied for the online acute care MSN program. I think the waiting to hear is going to drive me crazy! What about you? I tried to send you a PM but it wouldn't let me, for some reason. I don't know if I'm not the correct kind of member or if I just need to someone activate or upgrade my account.
  14. Has anyone applied for any of the USA MSN programs for spring 2013 entry?
  15. I know those aren't east coast-ish, but I think both those programs are distance friendly.
  16. University of South Al has a program that doesn't require the GRE. UAB has a GRE waiver program if your GPA is high enough.
  17. I have no idea, but Mississippi University for Women has a 12 month FNP program (complete MSN). Not online, though. http://www.muw.edu/nursing/gradprog/
  18. And a happy thanksgiving to all of you, too! We have SO much to be thankful for! :)
  19. Pell grants, student loans, a wonderful family (helped pick up the tab on the bills), a great financial aid office that was generous with scholarship money, and a state funded grant-loan program (that I pay back by working within my state - not at any particular facility - 1 year of FT work for each year of monies received).
  20. I'd consider it a privilege to even get OT for working holidays (Christmas, etc)! Anyone else find it unfair that the ERPs get doubletime on holidays... the nurses, plain ole base pay? :angryfire
  21. Left a great office environment (M-F 8-5, no holidays or weekends, flexible schedule-could leave early for kids activities, etc, great coworkers) 4 years ago to become a nurse. Some days I think it's the best decision I ever made. Other days I wonder what the heck I was thinking! One of my major regrets and stressors is that I have assumed a huge level of responsibility/liability yet I get make only a small amount more in pay/benefits than my previous position. I also have two young children so I miss getting to participate in all their activities, etc. I also miss being home with them on the holidays. I do, however, find nursing immensely more interesting and intellectually stimulating - that alone almost makes it worth it. When it all comes down to it, it just depends on what you day you ask me! :)
  22. Gifts... what are those? Seriously, I can't recall ever getting a gift from my hospital. They do have raffles for "Hospital Week," etc., but they're usually held during only day shift hours. (I work nights, obviously). Argh.
