  1. Shiamay - what a wonderful and inspiring story. I know you will make a great nurse. Many congratulations to you, and many thanks to you and your husband for so many years of dedicated service to this country. Now, you will begin serving in an entirely different, yet still incredibly important way. My hat goes off to you! :balloons::yelclap::smiley_aa
  2. Yeah, it could be tomorrow morning, or it could actually be Wed. morning. They will not update Sat night or Sun night. So, nothing appears Sun morning or Monday morning usually. There's a two day delay where they don't update. Providing your school submitted your transcripts, and everything is up to date with your application file, you might likely have your name appear early Wed. morning. I know it's confusing. Waiting for the result, even for a few days, is torture.
  3. They keep very odd hours. They will update in about 12 hours. It's usually done in the middle of the night, about 0400. The date posted will be the date of the prior day. It's odd. Tonight when they update, they'll call it Monday, June 25, even though it will technically be Tue, June 26, 0400. I got my results Saturday morning, (June 23rd) but according to them, it was Friday, June 22. Weird, I know. They are a day behind. Good luck!
  4. Best of luck to you!
  5. Packerfan - your test sounds a lot like mine and many others' here - mostly prioritization, some pharm, and little to no med calc, all over in 75 questions. People seem to be passing with that recipe, so you might very well have done great. I had one evil med calc, which I'm usualy good at - but this one... it had two sets of conversions, and three calculations in one problem! It was a little tough, but I got it right. I was nervous about the test in general so this math problem weirded me out. I have no idea why they threw that odd, complex problem at me, but thankfully it was the only one!
  6. My best wishes to you, packerfan18! I had a job offer before I took the test too, and cannot take the job without a license. I found out on Saturday that I passed, so that's a huge relief. I will keep my fingers crossed for you too!
  7. Hahahah...no I'm not a test writer, I've just had so many of those darn questions drilled into my head over the past month, that I swear, I am now thinking like the NCLEX... ...which is frightening. :balloons::monkeydance:Congrats to you too on passing!! YAY!!!:monkeydance::balloons:
  8. Holy Moley, Laura! 25 minutes! I took over an hour to do my 75 questions. I passed too, so it's all good, but wow! Your keyboard must have been on fire! :chuckle:
  9. I understand just wanting to know - it IS nervewracking. If none of your classmates are showing up on the BON site, and you know for a fact that they have tested, then maybe there has been a delay in the school submitting your records. (??) I wish I knew for sure and could help you more, but your guess is as good as mine. If you are brave, you could call the CA BON, and see if they can verify whether or not you have a license over the phone. If you opt not to do that, you may have to wait another week or two to get a letter in the mail with your results. The snail mail notification system can take a while in CA. I'm sorry I can't be of more help. I understand that the wait is extremely frustrating.
  10. I'm so glad to hear it! Woo-hoo! Congratulations! I found out I passed yesterday too.
  11. 1hotrn - did you go to this site and see if you have a nursing license? Just enter your first and last name. http://www2.dca.ca.gov/pls/wllpub/wllqryna$lcev2.startup?p_qte_code=RN&p_qte_pgm_code=7800 Also, are you either foreign born and don't have a Social Security number, or is it possible your School of Nursing had not submitted your transcripts yet when you took your test? Either of those things would cause delays. Also, you can pass or fail at any number - there's really no way to tell. Chances are, if you got one and only one math problem, you probably got it right. I got one, and I got it right. They never asked me another one. If you got it wrong, they'd probably give you more to be sure you can actually do the math.
  12. Tee-hee. Anything I can do to bring some joy and laughter to some very stressed out future nurses. I know laughter helped me A LOT when I was preparing for, and awaiting my NCLEX results. Found out today...I PASSED!
  13. I just took my test on Wed., so I don't have results yet. I can understand about being nervous to call the BON. It's intimidating, huh? If you don't feel comfortable with it, maybe wait out the next week, if you can, and see if anything appears. I've heard that it can take a while sometimes...you might also get something in the US Mail, also.
  14. Otan11 - I might recommend calling the BON? I know it can vary quite a bit as to how quick they get their results up. Reading the posts here, I have seen some people get them in three days, some in three weeks... So, unfortunately, it's hard to say exactly when your name will show. Good luck, and try calling if you don't hear anything.
  15. Congrats to you, babygrl06! You must be feeling quite a bit of relief and happiness right now!
  16. Cress101 - yeah, I'm a nervous wreck too. Waiting, and hoping I'll see my name on the CA BON site.
  17. Cress101 - don't hang yourself out to dry just yet. I think almost everyone walks out feeling like they failed. Seriously - you may very well have done fine. So many people on this site passed with 75 questions, and almost all said "I was certain I failed." I'm waiting for results in CA too. I took mine yesterday. Best of luck to you.
  18. Good luck, studentque! I am in the same boat as you. Took the test yesterday, awaiting results, worrying a lot! Here's one more NCLEX style question for you, if you can stand one more. Vektor has just learned that studentque has recently taken her NCLEX exam. Which of the following statements by Vektor indicates that she understands therapeutic comminucation? 1.) "You should go out and get drunk now." 2.) "What are you worrying about? All people in Augusta pass the NCLEX the first time." 3.) "Congratulations on completeing this milestone in your nursing career. I am wishing you the very best of luck." 4.) "Why do you want to be a nurse? Why not be an airline pilot?" The correct answer is 3. This shows support and encourgement. 1 is incorrect - this promotes hedonism which is only good in small doses. 2 is incorrect - this provides false reassurance, though it would be cool if it were true. 4 is incorrect - this statement asks the candidate "why" and does not address her concern. Good luck to you!!
  19. Congrats, lcbradley, R.N.!!
  20. Sounds like you're on the right track as far as preparation goes! I found the thing that helped me the most was answering a lot of questions, particularly, doing "mixed content" and Med/Surg practice tests. I know there is a lot of debate about "who's the best" - Kaplan, Saunders, Mosby, Davis, Lippincott, etc... I used about four different sources, and I sincerely feel that they are all very similar, and any studying and practice you do is helpful. Use a couple of different sources if you can to get a feel for slightly different types of questions. I tried to "mix it up a bit" and found, lo and behold, that some of the questions I got on NCLEX were almost verbatim ones I had answered in my studies. Just exposing yourself to a lot of questions increases the chance you might see some very similar ones on the boards. Good luck!
  21. Thanks all, for your kind wishes. Congrats to those of you who have passed, and good luck to those still waiting. I am hearing an overwhelming amount of feedback about the recent NCLEX test plan, and yes, it seems like there are a heck of a lot of those "select all that apply" and the prioritization ones. Some of them may be pilots? If so, I hope all my "select all's" were pilots, because I stink at those, I think. I'm glad it's over, and I pray it's for good...I just want to start my career!
  22. Thanks for the well wishes, abundantjoy! 75 questions was nice, but I keep thinking "did I fail that fast?!?!" Ya know, post test jitters. I got a handful of the select all that apply, and they were rough. I hope I got at least ONE of them right. Congratulations on passing!
  23. OMG! I am so sorry that happened to you, but glad you're ok. What a horrible thing to have happen right after an already stressful test! Best of luck as you await your results. I just took mine today. To answer the question of the thread - I got 75 questions today, don't have results yet.
  24. 1. how many questions did you take on nclex? 75 2. what study materials did you use? did you take a test review course? i used saunders comprehensive review, 3rd edition, and strategies for success, plus their accompanying cd roms, kaplan 2007-2008 strategies book and cd rom, ati online test bank, kaplan pharm flash cards, and i took the sally lagerquist san francisco review course, plus used her online question bank. (i like to mix it up!) 3. did your son offer any testing (eri, ati, hesi)? ati 4. how long did you wait for results of the test, or are you still waiting? three agonizing days. took the nclex on a wed., results appeared on the ca bon website saturday morning. 5. what were your thoughts coming out of the test (total disbelief, certainty you had failed, confident you had passed)? a little relieved that the test ended at 75 questions, and that i was at least done with that phase of the agony. i felt fairly confident that i knew some of the material, and scared because some of it i didn't know for sure/couldn't recall. i knew for a fact that i got one really easy question wrong, and that upset me, i thought to myself "the computer shut off at 75 questions because it realized right quick that i'm an idiot." i guess i am now at a moderate level of neurosis. i'm sure i must have gotten some of the easy ones right, because they got hard pretty quickly. 6. was this your first attempt at nclex? yes, and thankfully, last. good luck to those who are waiting and ++++ thoughts for those who are waiting on results!!
  25. Regglyn - that may be one of those nasty rumors. You know how computers are - they can be slow, and they have to process information...that might lead to a lag, but I doubt it is because you have answered worng. I have heard that theory too, but I don't buy it. I have heard "if you got one wrong, it lags as it looks for an easier question." Wouldn't it then stand to reason that if you got one right it would have to search the question bank for a harder question? Either way, the computer has to adapt to your answers, and generate another question. So it would lag on all questions equally. I think the lag is just the machine's quirks. I took NCLEX today, and got 75 questions. I didn't get a lag on any of them, and I KNOW for a fact I got at least one wrong (probably more, (I'm sure!) but I verified this particular question.) Don't let a lagging machine stress you out. I suspect any percieved lags are just due to the individual computer and how slow or fast the electrical components are responding.
