  1. Very many thanks for your feedback and advice. I, pretty much, don't respond to cultural shock any more. As a "mature" nurse, I've been around that block (too many times). I graduated in NC w/ADN in 1995 after living in big metro areas previously. Definately don't want to be unsafe in our "midlife years" (lets see, that makes me 104 when I "die"). Definitely will take your word and research the area. Looking at Crossville. Any feedback?
  2. Thanks, my nursing colligue. Even though "Danger is my business," I value your feedback, and will heed your recommendation. Violence seems to be everywhere - so do nurses who just want to do his or her job - despite those who will benefit from our care!
  3. Looking at NV (in low violent crime area - rural or suburban near city) to move, work, and play (outside hike, swim, fish, camp - no golf though). We have (physically)grown adult kids. I have 22 years nursing including hospice and palliative care, Home Health, Acute (Medical) Rehab, and Neuro Surg experience. Maybe retire in 10-15 yrs in same area - or maybe a Walmart greeter someday . Any recommendations of areas to stay away from, to check out, and any other input is really appreciated. Pay is no big deal if compared to area cost-of-living. Thanks to you all-TR in Maine

  5. Hello from "The County"- way (but not all the way) up in northern Maine (Aroostook County). It's much more technologically advanced than you may imagine. We moved here from NC 3 yrs ago. Much demand for nurses here (as is the case everywhere); however, hospitals are spread apart by at least 30 miles- if the hospital is where you want to be. Best things to us here are nature everywhere, majestic beauty of the scenery, very friendly and trusting/trustworthy people, very inexpensive real estate, significant family and work values, and overall peace. -TR
  6. Hello readers of this forum. Will you please respond to this question: for those of you working in Acute Rehab Facilities (IRFs), how are you involved in documenting FIM scores and by what method did you learned to assess FIM scores?
