  1. Sleazy or not all patients have the same rights when it comes to care...Nursing is a calling..as Nurses we take an oath to help our patients...COMPASSION and empathy is something that you are born with as a person....COMPASSION and empathy cannot be taught in a classroom...if a Nurse feels threatened they can always give care with someone else present for protection or a witness...Don't know if considering yourself "nurturing and kind" makes you Nurse material...not being rude but real....
  2. Amen......God is good all the time....
  3. The most important thing to do is to relax........ Washing hands is VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!!. Make sure that you DO NOT shake your hands when you are finished at the sink. You should sing a full round of HAPPY BIRTHDAY to yourself while washing hands, it should be enough time for complete hand washing. Use paper towel to turn water off, let water drip off the tips of your fingers then use one paper towel for hands and one for your wrists and forearms. Also remember to say that you are washing hands even if you DO NOT TOUCH the patient. Even when you are just counting respirations while patient is sleeping. Also mention that you are washing hands when leaving the "room". You WILL FAIL for not mentioning hand washing. Remember to talk to your patient while in the "room" with them. The skills test is mostly common sense. Think things out step by step. Say all the steps that you are doing and be calm. Mentioning brakes on bed and wheelchair are soooo important too. Good Luck.
  4. CNA's do not make a whole lot of money but..................there is self gratification, that is a large part of the job. Just knowing that you have made a difference in their life should be payment enough. I have been a CNA and I complained everyday about the pay, but I also was aware that I was not going to get rich either. My clients were so grateful for all that I had done for them that at the end of the day it was worth it. The pay was not that great, but I still went home feeling good about a job well done and knowing that I made in their in their life even for one day.
  5. Just be thankful that your in the nursing program and quit your cryin....... Some people would kill, to get to wear that dress. Getting into the nursing program is not easy. Besides, it will only be temporary. And oh.... good job!!!!!!!!! getting into the program.
  6. I am a nursing student also.... Not once have any of you mentioned God, and the plans that he has for us. You may feel that you have lost all of these things, I myself included have "lost"many things along the way. But I also have gained so much along the way. Just think of this as a ministry that has been choosen for you. We are under the impression that this is what WE have choosen but, this has been choosen for us. And consider this a blessing. Just keep keeping on. God is on our side.
  7. it is correct that money would be taken away from you I've had it happen to me I guess those are the rules and they suck for people like us that are working hard towards a goal.I have just learned to make the money work. see if maybe you go on line to textbooksrus.com to find your book used you will need the isbn number. if you don't have it go to the book store and write it down and then go to web site. This site is very reputable I just bought a 50.00 book for 19.00 used took about 5 days to get. good luck
  8. Age is just a number... I am 45 yrs young and I only 5 more classes before i begin nursing school and i cannot wait to start.. Why should you just settle? I believe that if you can dream it you can achieve it!!! You need to really thing about if that is really what is in your heart. i know that for me it is not easy but i continue with my quest and I know that I will achieve my dream of becoming an RN no matter how old I am. This moth makes 3yrs that recieved my ged and for that was a major thing in my life so I know that I can make it..... So can you!!!!!!!! Good Luck
