AG-ACNP working in primary care or urgent care
Thank you Juan. I'll be honest that I'm glad you responded. You have a lot of information that is very helpful and is presented in an easily digestible manner. I've read your background elsewhere, I think you are an ACNP in California, but I can't remember? Any tips or guides to where you've posted some info would be appreciated. I really enjoy your input.

ACNP vs FNP post-masters
The only difference is in the training and your liability. Technically, you could see the same people in the hospital setting that you see in primary care. But, if a lawyer wanted to get "froggy" they might could cite you on not being "technically" trained as an AG-ACNP. The AG-ACNP program focuses specifically on hospital care with chronic conditions being an obvious overlap. But, no primary training is included, it is all hospital based.

AG-ACNP working in primary care or urgent care
Are there any ACNPs that work in a primary care clinic or Urgent care clinic, as well as the hospital setting? The scope of practice for ACNPs in NC, where I practice, states that we can see patients with acute or chronic conditions in any setting that they may present. All of my training is hospital based but we do train to care for most, if not all, common chronic conditions in adults as well.

Got a Per Diem Hospice position
Yeah, can't be any help with documentation but I can add my congrats! Congratulations!!!

Is there a difference between ACNP and AG-ACNP
The certification and title will be changing to AG-ACNP but there will not be a difference. The program teaches a little extra about Gerentology because they are eliminating the Adult Gerentolgy NP degree so they just combined it. You'll be fine in either program.

quick questing for those with some experience
Yeah, thats pretty much what I think but I would call the universities now and start taking whatever classes are on their pre-req list there at CC so you'll have as many out of the way as possible. Whatever you can do to lighten your load while your in the nursing program will be extremely beneficial.

Advice from experienced RNs please!!!!!
If you are almost finished with your BSN then I would suggest you stick with it and apply for an NP program. It will take less time than going to med school and you can do everything a med degree would allow on a primary level, even specializing(cardiology, GI, OB-GYN, critical care, etc..) without the high malpractice overhead cost. For work experience I would suggest going into an ICU because it will give you the most autonomy outside of home health nursing which you would not be able to do coming straight out of nursing school.

Please Help a Student out with an Assignment - This is actually sort of fun :)
The outside of the envelope should say: ALL THE ANSWERS TO EVERY CLINICAL QUESTION YOU HAVE EVER HAD!!!!!!

quick questing for those with some experience
Go straight into an RN program. If you don't have to work full time then go into a Bachelors of Science in Nursing program and get all 4 years out of the way. I'm not sure I understand what kind of courses you are talking about that they are offering. The only programs I've seen have an RN(ADN) program that have pre-requisites.(A and P1,2-Microbiology-psychology etc..). I worked for the post office for 8 years before applying to nursing school. The key thing is to apply to as many RN programs as u can and then choose from the ones you get accepted in. Until then take only courses that are required as prerequisites for RN programs or bachelor degrees. Trust me. It will save u a lot of headache later. When u get in a program they will teach u and give u the classes you need for an ADN or BSN so I would double check on what the courses you are describing(intro to clinical experience,etc..) are for and if they would apply to your nursing program. Lastly, try to put yourself in a situation where you are not working 50 plus hours a week while you are in school. Nursing will take up all of your time and it is worthless to even attempt it if you have to be distracted with fatigue from working so much. I left a job working 60 hours a week making 60,000 a year in NC, which is great money, to start a 2 year program working part time with no loans or assistance. Had to scrape by but the payoff is worth it and the money I'm making now dwarfs what I gave up. More satisfying too. I apologize if this message rambled or was a bit incoherent so let me know if I can help you or need to clear anything up.

I passed boards today!!!!!!!!
Congratulations!!!!!

How do I pay my bills?
Why would you suggest it a good thing to live off the government while you go to nursing school. Looking for ways to rip off taxpayers to pay for your interest in becominga nurse is not good advice. For shame, Larry77, for suggesting it. Either save up enough to go, find private grants or don't go at all.

Reasons Why YOU Won't Join A Union
Basic Economics: A Citizen's Guide to the Economy by Thomas Sowell is a book every person, ESPECIALLY nurses, should read. It will explain in clear and absolute terms why the individual is better off making his own decisions for himself rather than having an enlightened liberal make decisions for him whether the person likes it or not.

Reasons Why YOU Won't Join A Union
Union ideas come from the great ideology of socialism. H2M has POSITIVE quotes about union's from Big Union websites. SHOCKING! They want everybody to be equal, but guess what? The only way to make everyone absolutely equal is to take everything from everyone so no one has any more than the next. And don't give me the tired rhetoric of "slave labor" and working class. America doesn't have a "working class" and "elites". America has employees and employers. No one has to work for any benefit except for his own. Unless you're in a union and have to do exactly what they want or risk intimidation which I know of personally by the NALC(National Association of Letter Carriers). And their talk and motivation sounds exactly like what the ANA promotes for nurses in hospitals and around the country.

Reasons Why YOU Won't Join A Union
I don't want to get beat up for not staying in lock-step with whatever the union bosses have decided to do. Getting buried under the in-zone of a football field is not the future I want.

Hey, what book did you get all of that info from? Or was it from the net? That is some great detail that Saunders doesn't bother including
