  1. Hello to all! I'm a RN with a BSN and BS in Biology. I've been a nurse for 3 years now; doing home care and ER. I want to get out of the clinical setting and do administrative work. I'm researching in other job alternatives and I came upon a degree: MBA in Healthcare and Life Sciences. Does anyone know what I can do with this degree? Many thanks if you do :)
  2. I haven't checked this thread in a while. So...thanks for those nice nurses out there who understands where I'm coming from. Nursing is not just the bedside... I've met too many nurses who are so negative and I just don't have the time to hear their "b****ing". I'm moving on into another field in nursing that doesn't deal with patients but I'm still able to help people, which is very important to me:up: Kind regards to all!
  3. Hello everyone! I'm from NJ and have been trying to get into the pharmaceutical/biotech industry for time now. I have a BS is Biology and a BSN. I've been a nurse for almost 2 yrs and mostly doing peds homecare and just 9 months of ED. I really want to move away from the bedside...it's killing me softly:crying2: Can anyone give me some info on how to get my foot in the door to clinical trials or regulatory affairs. I was also thinking of working in drug safety but i don't know if I need a degree or certification for that. I need a push, an idea, some suggestions....please. Kind regards!
  4. There are jobs out there for nurses outside the bedside. Look into that if the floor is stressful for you.
  5. I've been a nurse for almost 2 yrs now and I must say that bedside can really burn you. I'm trying to get away from the bedside. I was an ER nurse for 9 months...I had no time to eat, go to the bathroom, and i couldn't sleep thinking that i had to go back to work:eek:. I'm doing home care now but is not very fullfilling to me. I'm looking into coding, drug safety, clincial data analysis, and perhaps MBA in Healthcare/Life Sciences. If anyone has any info on these, please let me know. I would appreciated greatly!
  6. Thanks for your opinion; seriously. I would like to know if anyone can give me any info on MBA in Healthcare and Life Sciences. Much appreciated:)
  7. Hello! I've been in nursing for 2 yrs; mostly in peds home care and 7 months of ED experience. I was recently offered a hospital job in Peds unit but after 2 days I quit. I'm not cut out to work at hospitals and I don't see myself doing bedside for long either. I have a BSN and a BS in Biology (I was a lab tech and cosmetic chemist) and now considering getting an MBA in Healthcare and Life Sciences but I don't know what an MBA can offer me. Any advice; I would truly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
  8. I'm a new staff nurse in the ED and I have a high interest in becoming an NP within 1 or 2 yrs from now. So, does anyone know any Emergency NP or Critical Care NP programs in NYC? Thanks!:)
  9. Hi all! I'm in the process of filling out my endorsement application. My question is: when I'm filling out my blue (FBI history record) and lavendar (state criminial history) cards, do i use my new MD address or the old one from my home state? Thanks in advance!
  10. AHA! Thanks so much for the info..I really appreciated!
  11. Is Holy Cross Hospital north of Silver Spring? Well, I want to settle in a quiet and safe neighborhood in Silver Spring. Can u tell me some of the zip codes that are safe? Hopefully u can help me out Jenny!
  12. Oh! Thanks!
  13. Hi! I'm relocating to Maryland. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Edited to add: What's a safe area in Silver Springs to rent a room?
  14. i applied in feb. and this is part of the e-mail i got from cedars-sinai: [color=white]rn new graduate open house this is an invite event only, walk-ins will not be entertained. □ this event is limited to new or recent rn graduates only . □ you must have already graduated or will be graduating any time in 2009 and only from any us accredited schools. □ rsvp is done only via email. please do not call for confirmation. good luck on the nclex!!
  15. I got that invite! I have to RSVP before May 18th for June 4th interview, but I don't know if i should b/c I was already hired in Maryland for their ER/Critical Care Residency Program in July and ER is where I want to start, but Cedars-Sinai is a Magnet Hospital and I heard is a great hospital to work in. So, I'm still thinking of what to decide on...
  16. There's a job fair coming up from ADVANCE Nurses; taking place at the Javit center (NYC) on May 8th. Good Luck!!
  17. Hey Jaime! If you are willing to move anywhere I suggest you go to www.indeed.com and type in "New RN Grads" and click on "Find Jobs". The site will give u a list of all hospitals nationwide that welcome New grads or lists New Grad RN Residency Programs; and try to apply as many as u can. Make sure you write down the name of the hospital you apply with the date; this is just to keep u organized. I found 2 jobs that hire me and I picked the one closest to my state (3 hrs aways to be exact). Best of luck hon!
  18. Well, from what the recruiter told me, it's a 3 month program in the ER. The first few weeks is in class, then gradually work on the floor. I start in July! I think they are still hiring. I was hired the day after my interview. I know how hard it is to land a job b/c I searched for 6 months. Good luck hon!
  19. Thanks! It's good to read this b/c I was hired() and will soon relocate to Maryland!!
  20. Nope! It doesn't matter. My friend went last November and she's telling me to go today. I txt a couple of people i met at previous open houses, job fairs and they are going too. There are a lot of new grads out there looking for jobs! Nursing shortage ahh....hell it sure doesn't look like it!! Still...don't give up!
  21. Don't give up "flipper628"! U r not the only new grad looking for a job. BTW, there's a job fair today from 1:30pm to 4pm at Rutgers (Newark). Here is the link if ur interested:D http://cdc.newark.rutgers.edu/CDCRUN09/CDC_Fairs.html
  22. Hello everyone! I have an interview next month at Holy Cross Hospital (very nervous about that!). Would someone tell me how their Critical Care/ER training program is like and what's their starting salary? Thanks!
  23. If St. Mary's Hospital does close, then more experienced nurses will be on the loose and that's bad news for the new grads who are still looking for jobs!
  24. I also got the same e-mal from NYP, but I'm only a new grad. I think I probably did not apply correctly. Meaning I didn't attach my transcripts, professonal references, etc. I'm still going to apply again!
