  1. I have a phobia of being a charge nurse.
  2. There is no height requirement. Places where I have worked always had plenty of stepping stools. I'm 4'10. :dncg:
  3. I have attempted to leave nursing a couple times. Entered a teaching program (then thought about the salary), Attempted entering X-ray technician program (didn't make the cut). Now, I am going through orientation at a psych unit. So far, I like it. I think for now I will give this place a try. If, not.......... sonography school, here I come.
  4. Oh, come on! Cut them some slack. Maybe they were playing ATM.
  5. I agree. Healthcare professionals need help too. What I'm really amazed is how more "controlled " we are. Maybe it's our years of training. I'm surprised in these days of people going "postal", we have managed to hold the fort.
  6. Has anyone worked at Lakeside Hospital in Bartlett? It is a psychiatric hospital. I am applying there (interested in going into psych). I'm not interested in the pay, just how well they treat the staff and patients.
  7. I always buy the generic feminine products (budgeting). I wonder why Tampax/Always can't just donate sanitary products to the young ladies? They can always do a tax write off.
  8. GOOD GRIEF!!! A T-Shirt???? That opens up a can of too many jokes (my head's filling up as I type).
  9. I have a feeling a man came up with that slogan. I am having visions of a caped super heroine with a tampon on her chest.:chuckle
  10. Has anyone seen the new Tampax commercial where it tells women to "use your period for good"? If you buy Tampax they will provide young girls in Africa with sanitary products and help them go to school. Where to these marketers come up with these crazy slogans? I thought the Benefiber commercial where it suggests that drinking fiber is sexy was crazy, but this one is a step beyond that. They could have at least said if you buy Tampax we will donate xxxx amt of money to provide young African girls sanitary products so they can go to school.
  11. Hi all! Does anyone work in public health? I used to work in Memphis at the health department, but had to resigned because I changed my residency (live in Desoto County). I applied online for an RN position with the Mississippi Dept of Health. My question is are the benefits good?
  12. This is a late reply. I used to work at Baptist East in Memphis about 5 years ago. I worked 12 hrs shifts (7p-7a). The orientation process was great! After orientation, it all fell apart for me. I came into work one night only to find their was no unit secretary, 1 CNA, and me and another RN. We had 14 patients each. After that shift, I resigned. I have wanted to work at another Baptist Hospital (Desoto), but I am scared that I will go through the same thing all over again. Since then, I have shied away from Med/Surg. Just call me chicken nurse. Nightfall
  13. Hi all! I am applying for a pysch position at a local private facility. I have no experience in psych. I have been an RN for over 12 years and have worked primarily in med/surg, community health (infectious disease), and occupational health. If I am hired, what do I ask regarding orientation? I'm sure I will need 6 weeks to learn the ropes. Is there anything else I need to ask, other length of orientation? Thanks nightfall
