No clinicals in the first year?? That's odd. From my understanding in speaking with someone in the program, and looking at the program schedule, it looks like clinicals should begin Spring Quarter of the first year and then continue on in summer and through the second year.

Just an FYI for all you Facebook users if you search the term "UCLA MECN" there is a group for us UCLA'ers....it looks like it was started by the earlier cohorts.

In regards to Epi, I was looking at an online class through BYU..it's the only one I could find, and it was approved by the dept. Thank you for the info on UCLA's online option...didn't know that exists!

Has everyone already taken the required Epidemiology course? I still have to take it, and I would prefer to take it online...anyone know of any online options? I found one, but wanted to see if anyone else has found others. Thanks!

Same here! Nothing like some $ to sway me, lol. I am deciding between John Hopkins and UCLA right now. I have an interview at CSUF also, but it's pretty much the same program as UCLA , only 3 years long, so I'm doubtful I'll go there. Asherah, thank you :) I think the nominated part just means they nominated me to receive the award. The email pretty much says you will getting x amount spread out over these quarters- that sort of thing. It says in order to accept you have to fill out the FAFSA. It's not the whole tuition- i WISH it was of course. hehe. but every little bit helps.

Was anyone nominated for a UCLA fellowship? I just got an email today saying I was.. very unexpected! It definitely sways my decision towards UCLA more and more.

Hey all! I too received an acceptance packet in the mail. I, for one, was shocked to have gotten in! I applied to so many other schools(out of state) and always thought CA was ultra-competitive. I've already put a deposit down at Johns Hopkins, so I probably won't be attending UCLA(although I always kinda wondered what who have happened if I had made the decision to get my undergrad there!- i chose UCSD instead). So that means one more spot will open on the waitlist for you wait-listers :wink2: Good luck to you.

Thank you! I applied for the BS/MSN program(FNP). I am glad to be in, but it's so hard now because I have to make a decision( I applied to other schools in CA as well that I have upcoming interviews for). eek!

oooh! that makes me nervous. I think last year people found out around different times depending on which cycle their application was in. Just curious, when did you have your interview?

Thank you for that. I was getting confused trying to figure the whole FAFSA thing out as well. I hope Columbia still considers the FAFSA as "valid" even though we'd be filling out in the wrong way according to their email.

According to my friend, last year they had over 300 applicants, around 90 were interviewed, and then they admitted 40( and around 5 people on top of that from the waitlist). So, if you got an interview it's a reason to celebrate knowing you made the first cut! I'm happy to have gotten an interview...anyone else? We have to do 2 interviews! :smackingf

Asherah, I am so sorry to hear you didn't get in I was really rooting for you as a fellow Southern Californian. Don't give up! I had my interview today...most nerve-wracking thing ever. The wonderful lady I interviewed with was so kind and she said she couldn't tell I was nervous which is always good. Now the torturous wait begins...

Congrats utexas!! Hopefully more us will get some good news! I think I personally won't know for awhile though because my interview isn't until next week.

Does JHU interview everybody with a completed application? Just wondering! Just got the email about scheduling my interview..eek!! I have so much stuff going on right now, I hope it's okay to do it in mid December. Definitely going to do the phone interview though.

Oh man , that's horrible. I definitely feel for you..I don't even know how I would go about getting a second copy of recs. So stressful. I'm wondering if I should use FedEx..hmm. Thank you for the information about the supplemental materials. It has been a crazy ride getting these apps together, nice to know I'm almost done with some. I hope it all works out for you.

Quick question about apps- the website states they want all supplemental materials in one packet. I applied online and uploaded my resume and statement there. Do I still have to include this in my supplemental materials? I would say no, but I just thought I'd double check since I'm getting conflicting information! Good luck to you all!

oh I definitely know how you feel! I am currently editing down my personal statement to the required 500 words or less and it's proving to be difficult. I wish we had double that!! Good luck to you too!!
