Anyone in Visalia?
I'm totally open to sharing apartment with someone. I like having company, and before meeting my partner, I had always roommates and I like it very much. The thing is you need to find someone you get along with:)

Anyone in Visalia?
2 weeks, 15-31 of Jan, I think. Did you look during the week day or weekend? I know sounds strange, but when I called two building managers, they said they do showings only during week, not on weekends. My boyfriend is also coming on Sat to help me look, so I was hoping to go through most of the search that weekend.

Anyone in Visalia?
Hi ReyaRN! How did your apartment search go? Did you like any place in particular? By the way, did you look anything around the hospital, if you don't mind asking? I'm thinking to find something around the hospital for the beginning, 3 or 6 mo rent, and after buying car to look further. Anyway, enjoy your weekend! Dine about SF is starting on 01/15, if you're interested; I'm not sure whether is offered in Bay area (it was before). We use the promotion to go to new or fancy restaurants where we normally cannot go:)

Anyone in Visalia?
Hi ReyaRN! What a coincidence, indeed! My friend works in Redwood city. How are you doing? I'm preparing for the move and I'm little bit excited, stressed, sad, and anxious at the same time. There are so many things to do and not enough time...When are going to Visalia (to sign the contract, or look for a place)? Where do think to live? Visalia has several new apartment complexes (SW and SE, if I'm not mistaken, very nice, they have websites with pictures), 2-4 miles from the hospital. Also, craigslist is a good resource. Because I don't and won't have car in the next couple of months or so, I'm looking for a place in close proximity to Kaweah Delta. There're not many available though. Take care!

Anyone in Visalia?
Thank you very much for the quick response, NurseAnn! I'm looking to rent an apartment somewhere the hospital. I've have a boyfriend,no children, but he'll be staying in San Francisco (has job there and cannot move) live in Bay area, so it will be only me. I've been looking for a job for some time (about 6 months or so), and I'm very happy to be accepted in the ICU program. But to be honest, I'm little bit scared to move away from him and Bay area-I don't know anything about Visalia (I did research forums and web about the Visalia). People are so friendly though and I love that! Do you live in Visalia? Would you mind to tell me specific neighborhoood/streets(sorry! even with all the info I've gathered about the area, I'm kind of confused) around the hospital (about a mile or so) where would be safe to live for a single girl? down Tulare ave maybe? I'm heading to Visalia next week. Thank you again!!!

Anyone in Visalia?
Hi NurseAnn! Happy New Year! I'm about to start at Kaweah Delta, and I wanted to know about your opinion of the hospital. I'm moving from SF, and honestly, I don't know much about the hospital or area. How is working for the district? And do you have any advice which neighborhood is safe to live for a single woman in Visalia? I don't have a car at the moment (planning to buy later, but I have a bycicle ), so needs to around the hospital. I know SW part is better than N...Thank you so much! Lana

New grad program at Kaweah Delta, Visalia??

Stanford New Grad program
Unpleasant surprise- I'm a MEPN with RN and on my way towards MSN in Acute Care specialty. Well, I found we don't qualify-Stanford takes people with BSN and MSN graduates only, not with RN license (with Master in Biology), even when you're in a Master Entry program. And why would I want to work as a RN after I've have my advanced degree and can work/get paid as a NP? I do need to work for a 1-2 years before I continue with the MSN portion; after so much studying (and accumulated debt), I'd rather work as a NP, not RN... Just my thoughts. Merry Christmas and good luck to all!

USC university hospital NEW grad residency
I find it unprofessional that HR even didn't bother to email applicants to let them know whether they were chosen or not, especially after the interviewers stated so; a simple generic email would suffice. Anyway, again congrats for the selected ones and MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL! Keep applying!

guys, do you remember if usc requires 2 years commitment after the Versant program ends?
-
USC university hospital NEW grad residency
Yes, the interview was more like good conversation, very little stress and they were so friendly. Just wonder what would be the criteria to select people 40 people out of 110...The questions were very standard and I'm sure each applicant is well prepared.

it was easy, actually. very standard behavioral questions, less than 30 min. it wasn't stressful. they said they are going to let us know by email after the 18th. how are you doing?

Thank you, Tristar! your response ease my worries a little. I have problem speaking in front of people, but a group of three interviewers is not bad. Your interview experience sounds almost pleasant:) By the way, if you don't mind sharing were there any clinical knowledge questions, like what would you do if pt stops breathing? Nurse2, I hear you; my clinicals were not nothing close to exceptional, too. just try to remember a pt who made impression on you, so you could discuss the nur diagnosis and your actions.

Hey, Tristar! How was your interview?

USC university hospital NEW grad residency
Mine is for Step down unit. Very nervous here. I've applied to at least ten or so places, this is this the only positive response so far. How many people interviewed with? Do you know how many people were invited for an interview, and how many are accepted in the new grad program? I tried asking the nurse recruiter, but she said she doesn't know.

Just to say good luck to you on your interview and all of you who have one on the Dec. 1st! Mine is the next Monday on the 7th of Dec. I'm getting so anxious, just feeling I'm not prepared enough which I suppose is a normal feeling. Good luck again!!!

Any UCSF Mepn Applicants?
congrats to all accepted! to answer your question: no scrubs in class. i suppose you already know, but to reiterate- first quarter is the busiest and the most stressful, at least for me. prepare to do a lot of studying by yourself (or better, in groups). after the first year, acnp and pacnp need to take step out year and the school sadly does not provide any help in finding you jobs (there are 6 of us). not to discourage you, but do not expect too much- many of us have had high expectations from the program (knowing its reputation) and ended bit disappointed.

Any UCSF Mepn Applicants?
I'm a current MEPN student. Your score sounds great to me, but from my understanding GRE is not so important for acceptance. Personal statement and following interviews are. Be clear about what you want to do and why(reasons that get you to this point). regards!

Do any NP's out there own their practice?
If I'm not mistaken, NP work under MD's supervision in Texas, not in collaboration. I had some thoughts about moving to Austin after graduation(NPs work collaboratively with MDs), but I gave up that option because of that issue. For me independence and being able to open your own practice are very important.

Advice for a foreigner, someone?
Hi Char, I am also a foreigner going into nursing. I am Greek and took me quite some time to move through ESL classes and the nursing prerequisites(4 full years). But my efforts are paid off- I am accepted in one of the best public schools in USA. Furthermore, having a friend who is Swedish, I can say affirmatively that English classes will be breeze for you. My friend has much better English than I would ever have because you study English at school from yearly age and it is spoken in Sweden. Also, Swedish and English have much more in common(Latin alphabet) than Greek and English. Plus, it is great that you do not need to work. I have to work to support myself which makes it hard sometimes. Do not be discourage because of your age. I am also in my thirties, and it will be my second degree. So go ahead! Beginning is always difficult, but it is doable and you are following your dreams(hopefully). Good luck to you!

Any other UIC GEP applicants here?
I just received invitation for an interview for UIC/ACNP specialty. I am going to turn it down because am already accepted in UCSF, so I suppose this will be good for people applying to this specialty(less competition, I guess). I think the interview questions are the standard ones, but why do not you check other threads? Like MEPN/UCSF one has some of the interview questions published. And do not forget to practice in front of the mirror:nuke: Good luck! I know how stressing is this time.

Any UCSF Mepn Applicants?
Count me in! Lets celebrate, fellow ACNP! About housing: check an apartment complex on Funston(13th ave) and Judah. Just after Andronico's store. Decent place for students- prices are cheaper than other places in Inner Sunset, the apartment is huge (for the standards of SF), close yo UCSF and the park. I used to live there and I like it.
