If you don't mind...
I had a 3.8 when applying to nursing school. Grades are very important, I took Micro over after receiving a C the first time around and then achieved an A. Both are on my transcript. Hence, the point 8.

Anyone else take the long road to your RN?
Thank Goodness for this thread. Do to life circumstances EVERY time I tried to take A and P II I had to stop. Three times I've tried. I've had 2 deaths and I was pregnant the last time. So here I am taking A and P I over, because by now I feel I am not as efficient in knowing the material and I will take A and P II again for 6 weeks in the summer. That's much easier than the longer period of time where I risk something happening. I haven't even finish my applications, because I'm so scared how schools will look at this. I have a 3.8 GPA but that A and P class will really look shotty. Anyone ever go through this? I just want to finish nursing as soon as I can. Finances and life have caused me to take the looongg road.

Seeking advice if nursing is the right path!
No judgement. But, I can say that I started nursing school at least 3 years ago and I just didn't want to do my clinicals because I worked full-time (40 hours) and didn't want to lose the money and lavish lifestyle. I even took classes towards my bachelors. Now, I have a baby and as previously stated it all came down to how bad I wanted it. So yes, I know I have to put my friends, family, even my new son on the back burner in order to get this done. Nursing definately is not a joke and it's not set up as it was years ago when people went to a nursing school and lived there. Married women with children lived in dorms with other women for months just to get a nursing degree or certification. Perhaps it should still be set up that way. I'm not saying what you want is wrong, but good luck getting it. There's a great book out. The Road to Success in Nursing School (something like that). It starts off listing qualities that make a good nurse. If you feel you don't have those qualities and perhaps don't want or cannot obtain them I suggest another career path. Good luck and much success on your journey.

Why yes I LOVE being Screwed over! How did you know?!
First, awesome title. And heck no you have no right to be mad. If there is someone you can contact I'd do it. You should not be penalized for someone else's error.

First day of unemployment
I too would like to know what's going on! It disgusts me sometimes that hospitals in America always concern themselves with making money. It makes me want to work outside of the U.S. I don't like the politics the American hospitals play. Good luck to you!!! :flowersfo

private pratice nurses? help from RN moms
I'm not an RN nurse yet, but I do have a soon to be 7 month old son so I feel your pain. For starters, not all hospitals run 12 hour shifts. You can work on an as needed basis, and there's different shift times. 11 pm- 7 am may work for you. That's the shift my father worked in the hospital to take care of me as a kid since my mother worked days. Also, consider working outside the hospital such as working in a birthing center or doctors office. Generally, its less money but they sometimes are more flexible. Good Luck to you and yours!!!
